Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Command, visited the 39 Gorkha Training Centre to review its evolving training ecosystem and operational preparedness, reaffirming the Indian Armyโs unwavering focus on capability building during the Decade of Transformation.

During the visit, the Army Commander observed demonstrations highlighting the Centreโs technological integration, where Agniveers showcased live drone flying and handling skills, reflecting growing proficiency in niche and emerging domains. Lt Gen Sengupta commended their agility in absorbing modern technologies, emphasising that such competencies are critical for success on contemporary and future battlefields.

Stressing that training remains the bedrock of combat readiness, the Army Commander noted that progressive, technology-driven grooming prepares Agniveers not only for current responsibilities but also for the complex operational challenges they will face upon induction into frontline units, particularly in forward and high-intensity operational areas.

As part of the visit, Lt Gen Sengupta inaugurated the Multi Skill Training Centre, a forward-looking initiative aimed at equipping prospective retirees with industry-relevant skills in electricals and electronics. The initiative is designed to enable a smooth transition from uniformed service to meaningful nation-building roles in civil life, underscoring the Armyโs holistic approach to training, welfare and long-term empowerment.
