Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh flew a MiG-29 UPG multi-role fighter aircraft on a solo sortie from one of India’s frontline fighter bases on Thursday, reaffirming the Indian Air Force’s emphasis on operational readiness and leadership engagement.
During the visit, the Air Chief also reviewed the operational preparedness of the air base under the Western Air Command, assessing the readiness levels of personnel, aircraft and support infrastructure.
Emphasis on Combat Readiness
The sortie demonstrated the IAF leadership’s direct involvement in frontline operational activities, ensuring that combat units remain fully prepared to respond to emerging security challenges.
The MiG-29 UPG, an upgraded variant of the MiG-29 fighter jet, forms a key component of the IAF’s air defence and multi-role combat capabilities.
