A delegation from the Indonesian Army visited the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School, Vairengte, from 06 to 10 May 2026, as part of ongoing professional military exchanges between India and Indonesia.
During the visit, the delegation was oriented to the training methodology followed at the premier Indian Army institution, which is widely known for preparing personnel for counter-insurgency, jungle warfare and complex operational environments. The visiting officers were introduced to various aspects of the school’s training system, including physical conditioning, tactical exercises and operational training practices.
The delegation was also briefed on the overall training framework of CIJWS and its role in preparing military personnel to meet contemporary operational challenges. The interaction provided an opportunity to understand the standards, procedures and practical orientation followed by the school in developing soldiers capable of operating in difficult terrain and demanding security scenarios.

The visit highlighted the importance of shared learning between friendly nations and offered both sides a platform to exchange professional experiences. Such engagements help enhance mutual understanding, strengthen interoperability and encourage cooperation in areas related to training, operational preparedness and military best practices.

The interaction at Vairengte also reflected the growing spirit of defence cooperation between India and Indonesia. Both countries share close civilisational and maritime links, and military-to-military engagements continue to add depth to their bilateral relationship.
