The Army Air Defence College (AADC), Gopalpur, successfully conducted the Tri-Services VSHORADS Pilot Course, bringing together trainees from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy for advanced integrated air defence training.
The four-week course marked a significant step towards enhancing joint operational capabilities and strengthening interoperability among the three Services in the employment of Very Short Range Air Defence Systems (VSHORADS).

Designed to promote a common understanding of modern air defence operations, the programme focused on advanced VSHORADS employment, tactical procedures, operational planning and coordinated engagement techniques against evolving aerial threats.
Throughout the course, participants underwent comprehensive training aimed at improving tactical proficiency, decision-making and the effective deployment of VSHORADS in diverse operational scenarios. The training also emphasised joint operational concepts and the importance of seamless coordination among the Services in modern combat environments.
Officials noted that the course provided a valuable platform for personnel from the Army, Air Force and Navy to exchange professional knowledge, share best practices and develop a unified approach towards air defence operations.
The successful culmination of the pilot course represents a major milestone in integrated air defence training and reflects the growing emphasis on jointness and tri-service cooperation within the Armed Forces.

The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to strengthening India’s layered air defence architecture by enhancing tactical synergy, interoperability and operational effectiveness among the three Services.
Senior officers highlighted that integrated training programmes such as the Tri-Services VSHORADS Course are essential for preparing military personnel to address increasingly complex and technology-driven aerial threats in future battlefields.
The course reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to fostering joint operational excellence and developing a cohesive, future-ready force capable of responding effectively to contemporary security challenges.
The successful completion of the programme at the Army Air Defence College further reinforces its role as a premier institution for developing advanced air defence capabilities and promoting tri-service integration across the Indian military.
