Lieutenant General Mohit Malhotra, Army Commander of Sapta Shakti Command, visited Bathinda Military Station from 4 to 6 August 2026 to review the prevailing operational environment and assess the Indian Army’s combat preparedness along the command’s area of responsibility.
During the three-day visit, the Army Commander held detailed operational discussions with field commanders, focusing on the evolving security landscape, operational readiness and measures required to enhance combat effectiveness in an increasingly complex threat environment.
Senior commanders briefed Lt Gen Malhotra on the current operational situation, preparedness levels and ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening capability across formations. The review also covered the integration of emerging technologies, force modernisation and the refinement of operational concepts to address future battlefield challenges.
Addressing commanders, Lt Gen Malhotra stressed the importance of continuously evolving warfighting skills and refining Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) to keep pace with the rapidly changing character of warfare. He noted that future conflicts would increasingly be shaped by advanced technologies, information dominance and multi-domain operations, requiring forces to remain agile and adaptable.
The Army Commander highlighted the need to incorporate cutting-edge technologies into operational planning and battlefield decision-making to achieve and sustain a decisive combat advantage. He emphasised that modern military operations demand a comprehensive approach that integrates technology, intelligence, mobility and joint operational capabilities.
Lt Gen Malhotra also underlined the importance of agile, informed and adaptive planning, encouraging commanders to anticipate emerging threats and respond with innovation and flexibility. He called for continuous professional development, realistic training and the adoption of advanced operational practices to ensure formations remain prepared for the demands of 21st-century warfare.
The visit reaffirmed Sapta Shakti Command’s commitment to transforming warfighting capabilities through technological advancement, operational innovation and enhanced combat readiness. It also reflected the Indian Army’s broader vision of building a future-ready force capable of responding decisively across the full spectrum of military operations in an evolving strategic environment.
