Headquarters Western Air Command (WAC) hosted officers of the 55th Higher Command Course, providing the future military leaders with an overview of the operational capabilities and functioning of one of the Indian Air Force’s frontline commands.
During the visit, the officers were briefed on the operational, maintenance and administrative facets of Western Air Command. The interaction offered them insights into the command’s capabilities, responsibilities and role in maintaining operational readiness.
A key focus of the visit was the evolving character of aerospace power and its ability to operate across multiple domains. The officers were exposed to the inherent characteristics of air power as a truly multi-domain force and its growing importance in contemporary military operations.
The visit also highlighted the importance of integration among the Armed Forces for the effective execution of joint operations across different domains. With modern warfare increasingly requiring coordinated employment of air, land, maritime, space, cyber and other capabilities, greater jointness remains central to achieving operational objectives.
The interaction provided the Higher Command Course officers with valuable exposure to the functioning of a frontline IAF command and helped deepen their understanding of the employment of aerospace power within a joint operational environment.
Such visits form an important part of higher military education, enabling officers preparing for senior command and staff responsibilities to gain a broader understanding of the capabilities, operational requirements and perspectives of different services.
