The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for the procurement of 200 Light Helicopters, designated as Reconnaissance & Surveillance Helicopters (RSH), to boost the operational capabilities of the Indian Army and Air Force.
According to the RFI, 120 helicopters are intended for the Army and 80 for the Air Force. The move is aimed at finalising the Services Qualitative Requirements (SQRs), determining the procurement category, and shortlisting potential vendors.
The RFI also encourages Indian companies to collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) through joint ventures or production partnerships, fostering indigenous defence manufacturing.
A vendor interaction will take place on 22 August 2025 at 10:30 hrs, and responses to the RFI must be submitted by 18 October 2025.
The procurement is expected to strengthen India’s reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities, a key component in modern military operations.
