Heading to the analysis of the exam, the time was sufficient to cover the entire paper easily. For Maths and Reasoning, the time management was must, while for 2nd paper, 2 hours were more than sufficient for covering the questions. Section wise analysis of T.A. 2 2016 is as follows.

  1. Reasoning (Easy) – The reasoning section was absolutely easy. It can be termed as the scoring part of paper 1. Toughness level was low and was easiest part of the exam. The Entire reasoning part can be attempted in 30-45 minutes. 10 questions Nonverbal were asked and left 40 were from verbal. Nonverbal questions were easily solved by having a casual observation, while verbal questions were not too hard.
  2. Maths (Average) – Maths was average and constituted diverse questions form trigonometry, a bit geometry, mensuration, simple interest etc. Calculation level was average and most of the questions can be solved effortlessly. Few questions of trigonometry were with the high toughness level, while one of the questions of geometry was found without a diagram. Mensuration, number system, profit loss and ratio and proportion were easily attempt-able.Territorial Army Online Coaching
  3. G.K. (Average) – G.K. was average and constitute questions formal wide range. General science has got significant part in the exam. Current affairs has got low coverage. Just 2 questions were from the sports section linked to the current news. History, geography and economics were in a limited quality, while physics, chemistry and biology questions were asked in medium level.
  4. English (Tough) – English is the toughest section of the entire exam. The level was high and deep knowledge was required to cross the hurdle. Synonyms needed more than average knowledge to solve. While antonyms were average. While sentence sequencing and jumble words were average with moderate difficulty. Idioms and one word substitutions had a high level and the passage need deep observation and deep analysis for solving them. This section was compiled to crack the competition among the aspirant.

Conclusion – Concluding the entire exam, the overall level of the exam was average. An average student can easily crack the exam. The point of concern is the 40% sectional cut-off that a candidate has to score in each section and aggregate of 50% is needed to clear the exam. The determined cut-off criteria is a good approach. The results of this exam will be declared by 18th of August and selected candidates will be further called for a short interview. The SSB will be the next step after that interview. So, all aspirants should stay ready and keep in touch for further updates in T.A. examination.

These Little Tales of Young Vikram Batra Will Make You Emotional As Well As Proud

0
Viram Batra

On July 7, 1999, in the early hours, Kargil war hero Vikram Batra was commanding a mission to rescue an injured officer during an enemy counter-attack. He was killed in action while clearing enemy positions making the supreme sacrifice for the country. This Kargil Diwas, we remember the memories of a Young Vikram Batra through the words of his teachers and parents.

Vikram Batra is remembered for his bravery and sacrifice by every Indian. His family, friends and teachers have different tales of his student days which he spent in Chandigarh to share as reported by Tribune India.

Ranging from his daily life to NCC days, here it goes:

I scolded him in 1995 when he did not return the NCC uniform which is mandatory for every cadet after finishing the studies to get the no dues certificate for getting his degree,” former NCC in-charge of DAV College Prof RP Singh recalled this incident when he was asked about Vikram who was a BSc student of the college.

The otherwise calm and quiet Vikram told the professor: “I had gone to my native place in Himachal Pradesh, which is why I could not return the uniform on time.” The professor said he was frank and truthful. In the first year of college, Vikram was in the NCC Air Wing, but for the next two years, he remained a cadet of the Army Wing, said Professor Singh.

Vikram, who was fond of adventure, was the president of the youth service club of the college. He organised a Kasauli trekking trip for the club members, recalled his sports lecturer Ravinder Chaudhary. In 1994, Vikram participated in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi.

Vikram, who is remembered in the Army for the war slogan ‘Yeh Dil Maange More’, is missed by his father for his words “Bas do minute papa” (two minutes dad).

Sharing memories, Vikram’s father GL Batra said during his first visit to Hostel No. 1 of Panjab University, where he took admission in MA English for preparing for his Combined Defence Services exam, Vikram asked me: “Papa aap kya khaoge” (Dad, what will you have). To which, he said: “No mess or canteen is open in the university. Don’t bother yourself.” Vikram promptly responded: “Arre bas do minute” and he came back with a bowl of noodles and on top of it was an omelette for his father.Viram Batra

This dish has become part of our family meal and whenever I miss him, I ask my wife to prepare it for me,” GL Batra said.

He further said Vikram was “yaro ka yaar” (true friend). His friendly nature endeared him to mess staff which used to borrow his bike and in return bestowed their bounties by making everything available to him on demand in the hostel. Vikram, who was honoured with the Param Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra, during his university days, did a part-time job as the branch manager of a travelling agency in Chandigarh. “I do not want to be a burden on you, dad,” Vikram told his father.

These little tales of young Vikram fills every reader with emotion and pride at the same time. We are so honoured that India got such a hero who will be remembered by the nation.

10 Things to Know About India-US P-8I Poseidon Aircraft Deal

0
P-8I Poseidon

US Company Boeing on 27th July signed a contract with India for four more P-8I Poseidon Aircraft for Indian Navy. The contract was inked during the ongoing visit of US under Secretary for Defence on Acquisition Frank Kendall, and is seen as a sign of growing Indo-US defence ties.

This came at a time when Chinese nuclear and conventional submarines are making frequent forays in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

Here are 10 features and facts about the P-8I Poseidon aircraft:P-8I Poseidon

  1. The P-8I is an “anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft.”
  2. The P-8I is the Indian Navy variant of the P-8A Poseidon that Boeing has developed for the US Navy. The Indian Navy is the first international customer for the P-8I aircraft.
  3. The twin-engine jet has a range of about 2,222 kilometres, or more than 1,200 nautical miles, which allows the Indian navy to monitor the country’s vast coastline.
  4. It has a maximum speed of 907 kmph and an operating range of 1,200 nautical miles, “with four hours on station”.
  5. The P-8Is provide the reach and flexibility to undertake extensive maritime surveillance and intelligence-gathering missions.
  6. The planes will provide strategic blue water and littoral undersea warfare capabilities as well as armed intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance to the navy.
  7. The planes, a replacement for the Soviet-era Tu-142 fleet, are expected to be in naval service not before 2050.
  8. The underbelly of the dual-cockpit plane, capable of high rates of descent and short-field landings, has a bomb bay for torpedoes and launching tubes for sonar listening buoys. It can carry missiles, bombs and mines.
  9. The Navy is already using the eight P-8Is, armed with deadly Harpoon Block-II missiles, MK-54 lightweight torpedoes, rockets and depth charges, to keep an “intelligent hawk-eye” over the entire IOR.
  10. Based at the naval airbase INS Rajali at Arakkonam (Tamil Nadu), the P-8Is are also been extensively used in the ongoing search operation for the missing AN-32 aircraft.

Apart from the 12 P-8Is, the major deals inked with the US previously include ones for 13 C-130J Super Hercules aircraft ($2.1 billion), 10 C-17 Globemaster-III giant strategic airlift aircraft ($4.1 billion) as well as 22 Apache attack and 15 Chinook heavy-lift helicopters ($3.1 billion) and the $737 million 145 M-777 ultra-light howitzers deal under the Pentagon’s foreign military sales programme.
