Vacancies Reserved For NCC Cadets in Armed Forces

Vacancies Reserved For NCC Cadets In Armed Forces. We get many emails from candidates asking us about NCC (National Cadet Corps) and its advantage in ssb interview. Remember that having an NCC C certificate is definitely a plus point for the candidate but it doesn’t mean that this is the only factor for your selection.

Candidates with good performance in SSB and having a NCC C  certificate would always keep them ahead of non-NCC candidates.

There are limited number of seats reserved for NCC candidates which again improve their chances of selection because SSB has to fill these NCC reserved seats from NCC candidates only.Vacancies Reserved For NCC Cadets in Armed Forces

Got Recommended For Indian Army – AIR 126

SSB Allahabad Batch

Got Recommended For Indian Army – AIR 126. I am Avinash Ranjan, 23 a biotechnology post graduate. Being done with my dissertation with JNU on human genomics, I cleared UPSC CDS II 2014 and was called Allahabad for my 1st SSB. Right from the MCO at the station I came across various views and “expert” advices on Do’s and Dont’s at the centre while and outside the tests. The very moment we arrived the Selection Center East, I was packed with diverse direction of actions for various tests by candidates around me which I honestly speaking didn’t bothered paying attention to. I got acquainted to some boys at station only and luckily got some of them at the same barrack after document verification, 19 SSB.

Screening went smooth as I framed a positive story providing ample details and projecting required OLQs, narration was even better and with the help of fellow gonna be FAUJIs concluded it nicely. I felt blessed being screened in and wished luck to my friends who couldn’t make it up this time.
Psychologist officer instructed quite informatively which helped me frame quality stories in the given time. A nice approach as per me is to write a concise, well-groomed, action-oriented story with a confined goal. I wrote about my presentation at a recent International conference on Climate Change in the blank slide. WAT and SRT were something which 1st came in my mind and describing me the same as my PIQ did.

GTO was the most interesting part of my SSB being a Basketball player.
Please don’t overspeak while GD and GTO, listen properly think and then speak as long as you have  valid points to put, don’t repeat or try to overpower somebody,s idea or suggestion. Keep Calm and talk sense. Stay polite, active and helpful throughout the group tasks, act wisely while command task, fast and brave during the Individual Obstacles. It will be more than enough to sail you swiftly.SSB Allahabad Batch
I was interviewed for around 1 hr 50 mins on the very 1st GTO day and in my views was the most significant reason behind my recommendation. It was a formal questionnaire about my personal and professional life which soon transformed into a casual talk seeking answers for the steep fall in my graduation marks, switching from research career, my engagements during graduation such as Social Work, Basketball, teaching and the two of us talked endlessly smiling over my personal affairs like the distinct ways of passing my day while graduation in Delhi University and back home, the fun in my college lives bot B.Sc(Hons.) Botany and M.sc Biotechnology for more than an hour. I think talking truly & confidently about things you know and admitting your shortcomings will take you through.
My conference took longer than usual (~ 10 mins) because I was asked a lot of questions relating to my friends and family and my academics. It’s a “Make it or break it’ situation and I made it.
I got recommended and was feeling bestowed with happiness, I had an immensely good time with my fellow mates in lines. I thanked them for their support and wished them luck.
Medicals were over after a small hurdle of a TR for Overweight and now I am merit in with AIR 126.
I wish all the gonna be FAUJIs best of luck and advice them to act a bit judicially throughout SSB.

8 Smart Tips To Attempt Situation Reaction Test (SRT)

8 Smart Tips To Attempt Situation Reaction Test (SRT)

Hello, Warriors! Clearing SSB is a big achievement for defence aspirants. The five day selection procedure consists of various stages and tests. Situation reaction test is conducted on Day-2, second stage of SSB selection. It is the third test in the series of psychological tests, after TAT and WAT. It is important to know that SRT is conducted immediately after the WAT. There is a gap of only 10 minutes between the two tests.

In SRT, candidates responds according to the daily life problem which he/she may encounter. The way the response comes from a candidate shows his common sense, time sense, reasoning ability, maturity and empathy. The major quality assessed here is the decision making ability.

Before passing on the tips on how to attempt the SRT ideally, here’s what SRT is:

SRT consists of 60 routine life situations regarding day to day situations. All the 60 day to day situations/activities are printed in a booklet which are distributed to the candidates before the test commences. The candidates are asked to write his reaction by completing the sentences, as to how they would feel, think and act in these situations.

The responses are supposed to be written in a separate answer sheet provided by the SSB for the same purpose. Total of 30 minutes are allotted to write the responses for 60 situations, i.e., around 30 seconds for every situation.

Here are the tips which could prove to be very useful in clearing all the 60 situations easily within 30 minutes:

  1. Practising lot and with a focus is the foremost essence of this test.
  2. When you see the situation on the paper, write whatever comes to mind, but it should make sense.
  3. Do not make a long explanation because it is time consuming.8 Smart Tips To Attempt Situation Reaction Test (SRT)

Remember, you have only 30 seconds; write short and to the point. e.g. for SRT ‘He saw a snake entering into someone’s house. He…’ you can write ‘divert its attention with a stick and alarm the people inside the house’ instead of ‘He took a stick and started to beat it to divert its attention and alarmed the people inside the house.’

  1. Give a positive and a meaningful reaction.
  2. Though uncommon situations are presented, try to make a meaningful conclusion/reaction because it reveals that you are capable of handling any situation.
  3. If you find that a situation is repeated in another form, then give the reaction differently but see it is not contradictory to the previous reaction.
  4. Do not make a irresponsible reaction, in other words, do not merely react to the situation. Let your reactions be filled with responsibility.
  5. Do not make the sentences incomplete; at the same time the sentence preferably should be short to manage time.

Practise with these tips handy and SRT will become a child’s play. Hope these tips would help you to prepare for the SRT in upcoming SSBs. If you have any queries or doubts, message me on fb through the link below.

Some Manners And Morals To Enhance Personality

2
OTA Training picture

Personality is not just about your physical appearance, it takes a long time to make you content. For say if you look at any well-groomed plant, then its colour, its strength, its content in every consideration is not possible without a rich fertile soil, habitual environment etc…so it not just about the water and the sun, it’s about minute things that make it contended. Same goes with personality, its somewhere dependent upon our psychology and mentality.

Here I have enlisted and briefly explained some of the etiquettes that an aspirant should develop in order to create a better impression in SSB Interviews.

  1. POSITIVE PERCEPTION: Analyze your life with a positive perception. Don’t just start blaming God, parents, system etc for your current situation. Though it is possible that sometimes we are not responsible for our condition, but that doesn’t mean we are going to get stucked there forever. Analyze the situation, and approach positively and then implement smartly. Remember, its about how you end it.
  2. CONTROL YOUR TEMPER: Master your aggression. You must know when, where and how to apply your aggression. Teenagers and youths like us often boast off their anger, with a myth in mind that they would be considered strong by others but unfortunately ends up loosing their own dignity.
  3. EMPATHETIC WORDS: Empathy Is the “ability to understand the feeling of others”.The meaning says it all.”I can understand” is never going to satisfy the chaos of emotion in the person on the other side. You ought to think of te scenario from their perception. One of the OLQ is Group Influencing Abilty ,which is a must quality of an officer.
  4. RESPECT FOR YOUR TEACHERS: Do thank your teachers if you are able to read this blog. Always remember that no matter if you are in 1st standard 12th standard or a graduate with gold medal in academics, you are near above your teachers.
  5. RESPECT YOUR PARENTS: No education system can teach you manners and develop Moral values in you more than your parents can. You are having internet connection, clothes to wear and above all patience…and sense of what you need to improve as you are going through this blog :p They made the foundation of your education, etiquettes ,career and almost everything that matters in our life. A true example of selfless love. Like sun  and water, your father and mother are much needed support your growth. Show them your respect ,love and care the way they do for you.
  6. LEARN FROM EVERYTHING: Nature is full of inspiration. What you need to have is attitude to learn something good from what you see. Look at the efforts made by ants to fulfill their needs, learn from the enthusiasm of kids…they are always excited to learn something new. And there are infinite no of experience shared by professionals over different issues of our life. Take experience from the experience of others.
  7. TREAT OTHERS THE WAY YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET TREATED: Enough has been said about this, Newton’s 3rd law states that “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction “ Your behavior towards others will boomerang you someday, even if not, assume it would….in order to make yourself a better human.
  8. LOVE AND RESPECT FOR OPPOSITE GENDER: None among us is superior by birth on the basis of gender. HE should be man-ly enough that she feel safe and strengthened around him and she should be resolute enough to make him feel her presence to calm down a bit frightened child in him which is overshadowed by his tough outdoors. So, looking for an answer for who is superior is nothing less than counting stars.
  9. KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING HONEST AND BEING BLUNT: There is a thin line between being honest and being blunt that we often cross. “you are not correct, according to me “ is an honest reply… “ you are wrong” is being blunt. Give honest reply but don’t hit too hard. Share your views but don’t impose them on others.
  10. DISCIPLINE YOUR MIND, BODY AND SOUL: Discipline is not just about walking in line and reaching on time. Discipline is when your mind directs your body to walk on wrong lane, its when you stand straight in assembly when a long speech is being delivered from stage, its when you attentively listen to others without showing negative gesture indicating lack of interest. It should be in your conscience. You can observe an officer for better understanding. OTA Training picture

“Fake it till you make it”, I’ve read these words in an old post of SSBCRACK only. Which exactly describes what you are supposed to do. Portrait yourself as an officer in your mind and you’ll naturally develop most of the OLQs. But on the other hand, don’t forget that you are still not an officer, So keep your feet on ground and surely one day WE will be able to held our head high.

One Day My Men Will Be Ready To Die For Me

NDA cadet life

Twenty years from now, men will be ready to die for me, but not for you.’This is what a cadet at the National Defence Academy in Khadakvasla, Pune, tells his friends pursuing engineering when they discuss how much money they will make in their careers compared to him.

It is an explosive response for someone who is just 21 but that is not what makes it so staggeringly impressive. It is the belief with which it is said that gives it gravitas.

In a country bankrupt of many new heroes and an army of youngsters focused on campus placements and pay packages, the conviction of these young men is truly heartening. To hear them speak convincingly about country and duty when nationalism is often restricted to tokenism.NDA cadet life

The Indian Army confronts a worrying shortage of 11,200 officers. At the NDA — the premier training institute for future officers of the army, navy and air force — the first term cadets number 197, its lowest intake in many years; the NDA’s average capacity is 300 per course.

In spite of that, there are young men who think of the armed forces as their true calling. Some have spurned other lucrative jobs, others have defied their parents to undergo three years of training at the NDA to become fine officers and gentlemen.

Naib Subedar Chuni Lal Is Amongst The Most Highly Decorated Soldiers Of The Indian Army

0
Naib Subedar Chuni Lal

Before he turned 20, Naib Subedar Chuni Lal had already won a Sena Medal for bravery on the icy heights of the Siachen glacier. At 21,153 feet, the Siachen glacier is the world’s highest and toughest battlefield. To get a sense of the height and what super human effort it must take to fight a battle there, the post that he fought to recapture was just 7,875 feet lower than Mount Everest, which is 29,000 feet tall.

The young sepoy, just two years into the army, had volunteered to be a part of the operation led by the indomitable Naib Subedar Bana Singh, one of India’s greatest living heroes, who himself won the Param Vir Chakra, the country’s highest gallantry award for that operation.

Naib Subedar Chuni Lal was a member of Bana Singh’s team, which had the task of clearing Pakistani intruders from the post, which was almost an unbreachable glacier fortress with 1,500 feet high walls of ice on both sides. In extremely difficult circumstances, the men led by Bana Singh crawled from trench to trench and cleared the post of all infiltrators.Naib Subedar Chuni Lal

Twenty years after that feat of courage, by June 2007, Naib Subedar Chuni Lal had won three gallantry awards and was amongst the most highly decorated soldiers of the Indian Army. Lal was martyred on 24 June 2007 in a militant flush-out operation in Kashmir’s Kupwara sector.

The published details of the Ashoka Chakra Award:

JC-NYA-9088705 NAIB SUBEDAR CHUNNI LAL, 8 JAMMU & KASHMIR LIGHT INFANTRY (POSTHUMOUS)

Naib Subedar Chunni Lal who belonged to Bhaderwah (J&K) killed three terrorists on 24 June, 2007 before laying down his life in countering an infiltration bid by terrorists in Kupwara sector of J&K. This courageous junior commissioned officer was decorated twice for bravery on earlier occasions. As a young soldier he had taken part in the capture of Bana Top in Siachen Glacier in 1987 for which he was awarded a Sena Medal. He was also awarded Vir Chakra for beating back an attempted intrusion in Poonch sector in 1999.

Even Though It Is Short Of 11000 Officers We Should Be Proud Of Our Army

indian army story

I cleared both the engineering and medical entrance tests, I could have got admission to very good colleges but this was what I opted for. I will never leave the army. This is the life I want. I have a younger brother who is in the Merchant Navy.

When I go back home, I am made to feel like a hero. The respect that you get in the forces, you get nowhere else. There is also a lack of knowledge — when you say ‘defence’ people usually think you hold a rifle and go to the border. It is much more than that.

I want to join the infantry — like the Maratha Light Infantry. I have seen good officers from this regiment and would like to learn from them. My first posting will be in the field area. I would also like to serve on the Rajasthan border and in Siachen. Few know what soldiers go through in Saichen. It is a very tough tenure.indian army story

If you think about the dangers in this profession, I believe that there is risk everywhere. It is better to take risks here than anywhere else.

I like officers who can convince you with the power of their words. I am in my final term at the Academy and will miss my instructors when I leave after my passing out parade in May.

I will miss my squadron most. My squadron is called Mike. When I arrived here, I was told there are 15 squadrons in the academy and ‘one is Mike.’ I will remember that with a smile.

The Indian Army is the second largest army in the world. Even though it is short of 11,000 officers, we should be proud of it. We have every reason to be.
