GD At Screening Round of SSB : This has been shared before that GD at SSB is primarily different from those happening at campuses for corporate jobs in college or at any other level. At Corporate GD people are interested to look for fit by few qualities while at SSB assessors look for 15 OLQ’s along with the psychological mindset of the candidate so one has to prepare accordingly. I have been hearing myths in and around the web space for GD so thought of addressing the same here on a common platform. The following myths came to my ear:

  • I spoke a lot in GD still I was not selected in screening.

  • I initiated and even my story was selected in the group still I could not make in other rounds.

  • There was a fish market situation and people were fighting and I controlled the group

  • People who were shouting were screened in while others were not taken

  • I did well in GD still not selected in screening.

ssb screening gdNow I will try to analyse certain things here to make things clear to my aspirants. First of All selection in screening is primarily based on many things and not on GD, but aspirants pay full emphasis on GD only. It depends on Individual narration, story quality also and then comes priority for GD, so there have been cases where aspirants who have good narration, and a wonderful story revealing qualities had been selected even though they could not get chance to speak a single word at GD because of fish market situation. The following ways are good pointers that can help you in GD at SSB and save you, thus moving you ahead in the next round:

  • Listening skill is a quality also and helps a lot in GD where the goal is for the conclusion so listen to each and every story carefully so that you have a lot of data to speak on.
  • Keeping a positive body language is a must to show the assessors that you are not afraid of any situation come whatever may be and you have the courage to face them boldly.
  • Listening to the rules of the GD as told by assessors carefully as at some point of time important instructions can be given.
  • Be calm while speaking and keep aggression aside as such things give a negative mark in GD.
  • There should be voice modulations in GD as monotonous tone does not suit the audience and they can lose interest.

Body language in such an exercise is very important and I would deal it in a separate article. We all know how difficult is to handle word association test while psychological testing at SSB. Word association test is a set of 60 words with a mix of easy and difficult words. Things which make word association test difficult is the time limit which is 15 secs for each word and type of words which might be out of your vocabulary. 2. The best practice is to take sentence from real life example or may be a sentence from your own life.

3. Do not write sentences which show pessimism or a bad habit.

4. If you are not sure, you may leave that words instead of writing something negative.

5. If you have time, come back and write a sentence of the left out word with peaceful mind.

Indian Navy UES Entry

Applications are invited from unmarried candidates who fulfil eligibility condition of Nationality as laid down by the Government of India for entry as Permanent Commission (PC) officers in Executive (GS) branch and Short Service Commission (SSC) officers in Executive and Technical Branches of the Indian Navy under University Entry Scheme (UES), for course commencing June 2017.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
Educational Qualifications: Applicant should be in the final year (4th / 5th year) in an AICTE recognised university with one of the following disciplines and should have obtained a minimum of 60 % aggregate marks till pre final year (till V semester for BE/B Tech and. VII Semester for 5 year integrated degree course): –

Indian Navy UES 2017

Note:-
(i) Candidate must have minimum of 60% marks in overall aggregate on completion of BE/B Tech. The candidate failing to meet minimum cut off percentage will not be permitted to join INA Ezhimala.
(ii) Candidates who have FAILED in PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test) earlier are not eligible for the Pilot entry.
(iii) Candidates are not eligible for UES entry if they have not studied Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics at Intermediate (10+2) level. (iv)Technical Branch candidates as mentioned above at Ser. No. (e) & (f) can also be allotted Air Technical Specialisation and will be appointed as Air Technical Officers by IHQ MoD(Navy).
(v) Candidates with BE/B.Tech degree in ‘avionics’ will be eligible for Air Technical branch only.
(vi) Candidates having backlog in any semester at the time of Campus interview are not allowed to attend the interview.
(vii) Candidates with less than 60% marks in overall aggregate till fifth semester/seventh semester (B.Tech/integrated degree course) are not permitted to appear for campus interview.

Selection Procedure: The eligible candidates applying for entry will have to appear before a Naval Campus Selection Team for interview. The Candidates qualifying the campus interview will be shortlisted for SSB interview on the basis of his/ her preference for the entry, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria for particular entry. The final selection of Branch/ Cadre will be decided by IHQ-MoD (Navy) depending on number of vacancies in particular Branch/ Cadre. The Candidates shortlisted during campus interview will be called for SSB interview at Bangalore /Bhopal/ Coimbatore/ Visakhapatnam between December 2016 to April 2017.

(a) Conduct of SSB -> Stage I test consisting of Officer Intelligence Rating(OIR) Test, Picture Perception and Discussion test(PPDT) will be conducted on the first day. Candidate who fails to qualify in Stage I will be routed back home on the same day. Stage II tests will comprise of Psychological testing, Group Task, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. No compensation will be paid in case of any injury sustained as a result of tests. The duration of SSB will be 05 days Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Special Medical Examination for approximate duration of 05 days at nearest military hospital. Successful candidates of Pilot & Observer entry will undergo following on qualifying SSB:- (i)    Pilot Entry – PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test) followed by Aviation Medicals. (ii) Observer Entry – Aviation Medicals.
(b) Change of SSB centre is not permissible. Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates is to be addressed to the Call-up Officer of the concerned SSB. Award of fresh dates, would be subject to availability of date and batches at SSB centre.
(c) Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit, will be appointed for training in order of All India Merit depending on the number of vacancies.
(d) Return 3 tier AC rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for the entry.

How Failures can be your best friends at SSB Interview : Experts say failure is integral part of life. Life doesn’t seem to be moving if failure does not touch you. It is necessary to avoid life stagnation. But does life end there. Do we need to leave all things because of failure? Should we leave all hopes and leave dreaming. If we do not get success should be not try again. Failure is a simple part of life where we do not get the desired results. This is the simple definition where hope word is not there. We should not leave hope of winning, we should constantly desire for achieving our goals, dream badly seeing what we want to achieve then only it could be converted in reality. Getting back to the right track after getting taste of failure just requires a bit of courage, because there will be people who will try to close all doors for you, but there will be few who will be constantly motivating you to move ahead and achieve our desired state. Being surrounded by such people can make you lucky. Few people get friends, relatives who are the constant source of motivation for many while few lack them in their life.

Failure is the best time for a person according to me because it gives the real picture of who are your close ones, who are your real friends and who thinks good for you. Apart from all this you get to know about your flaws and could improve your personality. No one is perfect in this world. You have to constantly evolve from the difficulties and learn a lot. Watch Apache AH-64 Attack Helicopter in Action. The Boeing AH-64 Apache is a four-blade, twin-turboshaft attack helicopter with a tail wheel-type landing gear arrangement, and a tandem cockpit for a two-man crew. It features a nose-mounted sensor suite for target acquisition and night vision systems. It is armed with a 30 mm (1.18 in) M230 chain gun carried between the main landing gear, under the aircraft’s forward fuselage. It has four hardpoints mounted on stub-wing pylons, typically carrying a mixture of AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and Hydra 70 rocket pods. The AH-64 has plenty of systems redundancy to improve combat survivability.
