Are Officers Like Qualities Present In Me

0
Officers Like Qualities

OLQ’s or officers like qualities what are these? Where are they looked and how do they look it? These questions have been raised by many of the aspirants from time and now to me so I thought of answering this on this forum. First let me make very clear what Officers Like Qualities are. Defence forces take entry for their officers through SSB in which these qualities are judged through three rounds namely psychology, PI and GTO. Now SSB is a place where a person is tested for five days in and out and then he is honoured with that coveted title of being an officer and serving the motherland. SSB is all about yourself, your being a person, living life, achievements, academics and what not. You will be forced to revisit your full life in these five days ad whatever you do and say through that your qualities will be assessed.

Are Officers Like Qualities Present In Me

Defence forces look for 15 OLQ’s only which they believe if present in a person are sufficient and he or Officers Like Qualitiesshe then is a trainable material. Rest everything is the responsibility of training academy where they are converted to officers through rigorous schedules and time table. So aspirants don’t worry if you Officers Like Qualities no one will be able to stop you. Now people have been asking me through mails that they don’t have Officers Like Qualities or some even comment that they have introspected and could not find anything. Let me share the research data with you people here that everyone have all the qualities but their degree matters and that depends on their background, upbringing, environment they live life, what type of people they are surrounded with. All these things shape their psychology and this is what we test at SSB.

So the need is just to do proper self-introspection which needs deep study of important life events to gather the qualities and the weakness. In my personal mentorship program that I provide to aspirants personally I utilise certain tools for the same which facilitate easy study. Life events are discussed through counselling sessions and then the psychometric profiling is done. Here only one to one individual guidance becomes handy because these things are not possible in large groups. Once these things are over we have what to improve and what to maintain and then the practice of various rounds begin.

This should be the ideal cycle for any defence aspirant preparation. On contrary I have seen aspirants starting with practice set directly, reading others stories etc. and applying the same in their life. Believe me everyone is different and it can cost you screen out or conference out also. So follow proper steps and only facilitate under experts for individual guidance. Start early so that you have time for improvement. Still If you have any confusion or query drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. It would be a pleasure assess and guide for preparations. You all have chosen the right path so just keep following the right track and earn your uniform to serve the motherland.

This SSB Interview Experience Posted on Quora Will Inspire You To The Core

This SSB Interview Experience Posted on Quora

When someone asked on Quora “What are the most memorable SSB interview moments candidates had?” then Vikram Raj Singh has posted his SSB interview experience and his journey of joining IMA and resigning from it, but this is not the end, read the full experience of Vikram Raj Singh which is surely going to motivate all the aspirants and repeaters who are trying hard to get into forces.

I got recommended by 34 SSB Allahabad for Indian Military Academy. I went to IMA, Dehradun in July 2012. I was a proud person with arrogance having cleared SSB in the first attempt. But life is greatest leveller. All of my arrogance vanished when I was injured during training and prescribed one year bed rest. I had two options either be there for 6 months and start training after that. In this case if injury recurs, there were chances of being kicked out of the academy. Another choice was to resign and again try to get in once fit.

I chose to resign. I was insecure and confused. I did not know what to do because if I would have been in the academy and kicked out after 6 months, it would have been almost impossible to get a job outside.
I came out, got a job in IT industry. As soon I was fit, I started to go to SSBs. I was rejected 4 times by Air Force, once by the army and once by Indian Coast Guard. A major flaw in me was my decision to quit Indian Military Academy. Assessors  were not convinced by my justifications. I lost all hopes of getting recommended. I started to prepare for civil services. But there is something about these SSBs, or will to join the forces, you just think let us try one more time.
I waited for next AFCAT notification after being conferenced out in August 2014. To my horror, EKT was included for technical entry and it was the only entry I was eligible for. I took AFCAT test and EKT. AFCAT test was pretty good, but I was sure that I will not clear EKT. Whole EKT paper was calculated guess. In a month, results were announced. I was drinking that night. My friend told me that results are out. I was sure that I will not clear EKT to such an extent that I did not bother to check the result for next two hours. After two hours and quite a few drinks, I decided to just confirm my failure in EKT. I logged in and my AFCAT marks was 191/300 and EKT was 5/150. Cut off was 123/300 and 45/150. I left the browser open and had some drinks. I informed my friends of the result. They were consoling a drunk person who was abusing everything for the ordeal he went through. Suddenly I heard a shout of my friend. He told,” its 55/150 not 5/150 you asshole”. We confirmed and reconfirmed. I was through for next AFSB on 24th November.
I went to 2AFSB Mysore in November 2014 for July 2015 course. There was a footfall of around 200. Around 50 were screened in. I was screened in and getting ready for next 4 days. My psychological test was same as earlier attempts. I find it ridiculous when someone asks “How was your Psych test/PI?”. It’s not good or bad, it’s just as it is. GTO test was a bad experience, especially in PGT. We were not able to complete the task. Officer shouted at us. Command task was pretty good. I was waiting for the interview and the same devilish question again, ” Why you left IMA?”.
The day came. I was called in the room.

IO(Interviewing Officer) — Tell me about yourself, family, studies etc..
Me — Told

IO- What are you doing?
Me- I work in IT.

IO– Asks about my work ??
Me- Explained him Data warehousing concepts. Explained him the business.

IO– What is your routine?
Me– wake up at 9 am. Go to the office. Be there till 6.
6:30 pm- 7:30 pm — GYM
8 – 10 pm — Sleep
10-11 pm — Dinner
11 pm -3 am — study for civil services
3 am -9 am — sleep.

IO– What is your social life??
Me– No or little social life because of routine.

IO– Do you have a girlfriend?
Me– Yes. But she lives in another city from past 5 months.

IO– Are you virgin?
Me– NO.

IO– What do you think about pre-marital sex?
Me- It is fine if it is consensual and protection is used.

IO– (laughs) So are you loyal to your girl?
Me- yes sir. I will marry her.

IO- What if parents object?
Me- I will convince them.

IO– Ok. If they will not be convinced?
Me- I will still marry her if she would be ready.

IO- (laughs) You are preparing for Civil Services. Tell me 3 international news and 3 national news.
Me– Tells him about Ebola, Falling Crude oil Prices, South China conflict, Make in India, Swachh Bharat and RBI in detail for next half an hour. Counter questioning done. Answered.
He was quite versed with happenings.

IO– What was the cause of the recession?
Me– Explained in detail.

IO- (stops me in between) then came the big question. Why did you leave IMA?
Me– Explains. Sighs at last and for the first time tells him(or anyone) ” It was a bad decision”.

IO– What if injury recur and you leave Air Force Academy again?
Me- Not if I am alive.

IO– What if you are not recommended this time?
Me– Indian Air Force loss would be Indian Police services gain.

IO– Any Questions??
Me– No

The interview got over.
In conference, I was asked normal questions.
Everybody in my batch changed to formal for results. I changed to casuals. I was nearly sure that I will not get in and next time I will go to Varanasi AFSB.
Results were announced after initial address. The officer announced 3 chest numbers. Suddenly he says Chest number 41. I was shell shocked. I did not even had photos and xerox of mark sheet. I went to the podium. I have thought of that moment several times in my head. I use to think I will celebrate like Kohli or I would break down, but nothing happened. I was as still as a statue with gratefulness towards almighty.
The date was 29th November 2014.

Common Mistakes Committed During the SSB Interview

1
common mistakes in ssb interview

We at times keep on discussing the Dos and unwittingly turn a blind eye towards certain things we need to avoid. In this particular article, we would like to point out certain common and avoidable mistakes which the candidates commit when they go for the SSB interview.

Common Mistakes Committed During the SSB Interview

  • Reporting Late: – Though trains get delayed more often than not. The onus of appearing at the correct time and venue lies with the candidate. Plan your journey assiduously. I have seen people so dogged that they book a room in the city two days earlier in order to get acclimatized to the environment and report at the right time. So, if you have come to become an officer in the armed forces, don’t give excuses rather take responsibility for your actions.
  • Not Bringing the Required Things: – I have seen people forgetting their passport sized photograph, important documents and ending up packing their bags. These things are simply unacceptable and inexcusable.
  • Throwing King Like Tantrums: – Those people at the selection boards cater to hundreds of candidates every day. To top it all, you demand king like privileges from them. I have seen people griping about silly issues like not getting to eat enough sweet, T.V not working etc. You are there to get selected as an officer in the feted defense forces of India. This kind of behaviour will only lead to your detriment.
  • Aberrant Behaviour towards Staff and Fellow Mates: – You might be a big hoodlum in your area. Your entire Munna Bhai type attitude will be whipped off once it comes to the notice of the administration. Being a Leader is one thing and being a bully is another. Behave yourself at the SSB. You have to put your ego aside and work towards your goal if you seriously mean to achieve it.
  • Inappropriate Disposition: – Those earrings, long manes, Garish tattoos might fetch you some respect in your college, but these are the Indian Armed Forces dude. You ought to be properly shaven, immaculately dressed before appearing in front of the assessors.
  • Getting Carried Away By the Beauty: – It is indeed true that the cleanliness and palatable environment which you get in the defense establishments is unparalleled, but this doesn’t mean that you start loitering around where ever you please.
  • Getting Swayed Away by Emotions: –No doubt about the fact that you miss your friends, family during your stay at the selection centre. However, it is important to keep the mission in mind. You have come to nail it. Your friends, family, loved ones can wait, your mission cannot. Therefore, think pragmatically before you make any move.
  • Getting Tensed or over excited: – History has it, biggest of battles have been won using balanced and sorted mindset. Therefore, this may be the moment you had been waiting for years but you cannot afford to lose your focus and run away with the moment. There is no rocket science involved in the SSB procedure. Go with a positive cum undeterred outlook and the results will come running towards you!!

With this, we conclude this article. I hope it was worth a read. Your positive responses are thoroughly accepted and suggestions are kept in mind. Keep visiting SSBCRACK. JAI HIND!!!
