List of 103 Gallantry Awards Winners Independence Day 2024

On the eve of India’s Independence Day 2024, President Smt Droupadi Murmu has approved a total of 103 Gallantry awards to honor the bravery and sacrifice of personnel from the Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces. These prestigious awards recognize the extraordinary courage and dedication displayed by these individuals in various operations.

The awards include:

  • Kirti Chakra: Four awards, including three posthumously.
  • Shaurya Chakra: Eighteen awards, including four posthumously.
  • Bar to Sena Medal (Gallantry): One award.
  • Sena Medal (Gallantry): Sixty-three awards, including two posthumously.
  • Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry): Eleven awards.
  • Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry): Six awards.

In addition to these Gallantry awards, the President has also approved 39 Mention-in-Despatches. Among those recognized is Army Dog Kent, who was awarded posthumously for its significant contributions during military operations. These operations include Operation Rakshak, Operation Snow Leopard, Operation Sahayata, Operation Hifazat, Operation Orchid, and Operation Katchal.

These awards serve as a testament to the valor and dedication of India’s Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces, honoring those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in the service of the nation.

On a fateful day in August 2024, Captain Deepak Singh and his team were engaged in a high-intensity operation to flush out a group of Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists who had infiltrated the Assar forest region. As the security forces surrounded the area, a fierce gunfight ensued, with the terrorists putting up a determined resistance.

Undeterred by the hail of bullets, Captain Deepak Singh continued to lead his men from the front, exhibiting a level of courage and tactical acumen that left his adversaries in awe.

Despite sustaining a bullet wound to his chest, Captain Deepak Singh refused to retreat or seek medical attention. With unwavering determination, he kept firing at the terrorists, striking one of them and forcing the others to abandon their weapons and flee the scene.
