Cracked SSB Interview To Join The OTA Chennai

I Pardeep Singh Bali got recommended for SSC Tech 56 course from 19 SSB Allahabad commencing in June/July at the prestigious OFFICERS TRAINING ACADEMY Chennai. Yes, guys, I cracked SSB which is termed as the hardest interview to crack in India, but guys it’s just a myth, if one works on his/her personality, even an average candidate can get a recommendation.

It was an emotional moment for me when I heard my chest no, somehow I controlled my emotions and replied with my name and roll number in a clear and loud voice.

In my last attempt at 4 AFSB where I got conferenced out, DSO told us that gentlemen if you are a good human, you are 90% a good Officer, the rest 10% are your weaknesses and how you work on them. I worked on them and got a recommendation in the next attempt.

Day 1:-

OIR- 2 booklets with 40 questions each and 21 minutes were given to solve each booklet. I solved each booklet within 15 minutes. I think the SSBCRACK OIR booklet is enough especially for SSB Allahabad and SSB Bangalore.

PPDT- A picture with 4 people sitting on sofa and discussing something.

I made a story about a birthday party. I narrated the story within 40 seconds by speaking confidently and making proper eye contact with each group member. Coming to the discussion part it was a fish market like situation, somehow I controlled the group and gave a logical point that gentlemen there are two themes coming up and we can make a common story on one of them. Guys, good listening skills are a must for getting screened in.

After PPDT, I was damm sure that I am going to get screened in. After an hour the results were announced, and I got screened in with 28 other candidates out of 327.

Day 2- Psychological tests-

TAT– Attempted all the 12 pictures. On positive and neutral pictures, I wrote stories on motivational topics and topics related to social awareness. On negative pictures, I tried to include more possible action in the stories and how to solve the problem. I had already prepared a blank story based on my life experience.

WAT– Attempted 58/60. Gave positive and crisp responses. On negative words, I made sentences on how to solve the problem or what will be the outcome of the problem.

SRT– Attempted 57/60. Wrote crisp responses by imagining myself in the situation.

SDT- Already prepared and wrote actually what I am.

DAY 3 – GTO – It’s all about cooperation and how you act in a group.

GD- A fish market situation where most members were not giving others a chance to speak

I just asked them politely that gentlemen let me speak a point. Spoke twice in both GDs and gave facts and valid points.

GPE- Wrote the solution within 5 minutes. However one of the members fucked up by nominating himself to tell the group plan and gave his plan rather than the group plan.

GOR- the funniest and enjoyable group task.

After completing the group obstacle race, the GTO asked us that if anyone of us touched the unbound area, most of the members shook their heads, but I came forward and accepted my mistake. I think it created a good impact on the GTO as honest and truthful people are required in the armed forces.

PGT- I gave no idea but helped the other group members in implementing their ideas.

HGT – Gave an idea and implemented it myself.

Lecturette- made a blunder. Most of the members spoke on a high-level topic like BRICS ASEAN BIMSTEC etc and it was like they were prepared like book worms. Chose the last topic My favourite book. Spoke on UNDAUNTED the biography of Lt Ummer Fayaz whom I consider as my role model. I got too much involved in the narration that I wasn’t able to hear the bell and spoke for more than 4 minutes.

Day 4-

Individual obstacles- Completed 9/10.

Wasn’t able to complete the balancing beam as no strength was left in my legs.

Command task- Briefed the subordinates, gave an idea, implemented it. The GTO changed the colour to make it difficult. Became completely blank at that moment, he gave a hint and we Cleared successfully

FGT- a formality task.

Interview- A 35 minutes interview. I went inside like Rishabh Pant and almost hit every ball out of the park. Gave full justifications to the questions based on my piq. Answered every gk question except one and kept a smile throughout the interview. Actually, the charm on IO’s face made me comfortable.

Day 5-

Conference- It was a 2-minute discussion as they were sure shot about my selection.

An officer from the special forces came and announced the results and only I got recommended from the 29 candidates.

Cleared the medicals and soon gonna join the OFFICER’S TRAINING ACADEMY.

My Journey Towards Indian Naval Academy

Hello everyone, my name is Ayush Sharma and I got recommended for Indian Navy (SSC GS/X) in my 1st attempt from 33 SSB Bhopal. Before telling my experience, I would like to talk about me. I am currently in my final year of engineering at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. I come from a civil background; my father is an officer in the Indian Railways whereas my mother is a homemaker. I got the inspiration for joining the armed forces from a web series named ‘The Last Ship’ and thereafter I researched the various ways to join the armed forces after graduation.

Now coming to my experience at 33 SSB Bhopal. Being a fresher, this was my first interaction with the military world and I was really excited about it and nervous also. The reporting date was 6th March 2021 and 79 candidates had reported. The OIR test was easy, there were two sets, each having 50 questions which were to be done in 30 minutes each. The PPDT picture was clear and was based on an accident scene. I made a normal story of people helping the injured person. For the discussion part, we were a group of 11 candidates. I gave a short and crisp narration and during the GD also gave points as and when required and always tried to avoid the fish market type of situation. Around 2 PM the results were announced and 26 of us had made it to the next stage. I was happy after getting screened in. We were told to fill the PIQ forms and were told to report in the evening for document verification.

On the 2nd day, we had psychological tests in the morning. I did all the TAT stories and tried to keep them as realistic as possible. I attempted 57 WATs and 60 SRTs. Here the aim that should be made is to try to go for quality (but quantity with quality is like icing on the cake). I had prepared my SD beforehand. The main point that should be kept in mind for the psych tests are that be logical in your answers for both TAT and SRT and this approach will surely help you. I prepared from books available on SSBCrack websites and these books really helped me with the psych tests. I had my interview on Day 2 itself. There were 2 officers in my interview. The officer who took my interview was the Deputy President of the board. Most of the questions were from my PIQ form and almost all of them were asked as rapid-fire questions in 3 different sets. The other officer asked me 3-4 technical questions.

On Day 3, we had GTO tests, starting with two GDs and GPE. Try to have active participation in these. Make a logical story in the GPE and try to use the resources efficiently. In PGT, I couldn’t give many ideas but always helped my group mates in implementing those ideas. Then we had GOR, our war cry was ‘Har Har Mahadev’. Then we had HGT and having understood that how should we proceed to see the PGT, I gave proper ideas in HGT. We also had lecturette as the last task of the day, my topic was ‘Ballot papers v/s EVMs’.

On Day 4, we had Individual Obstacles in the starting, I could do only 3 before injuring myself and then couldn’t do anymore, so the key here is to try to do the tasks carefully without getting yourself injured. I had my leg sprained badly so the GTO asked me before the next task that whether I will be able to continue, I said yes. So next was the command task and I was called first. I would say that just don’t tell your subordinates to do the work instead help them in making the structures. The GTO was creating pressure on me by deleting the obstacles and even changing the colours but in the end, I completed the task. Last was FGT and we completed it in less than 2 minutes.

Now comes the conference day. Everyone was nervous but we tried to limit the nervousness by making some jokes. My conference went about for 2-3 minutes. The President asked me how was my experience as a fresher, whether I got intimidated by the presence of repeaters who have appeared 10-12 times. Since I was chest number 13, I was asked that many people think this is an unlucky number, what do you think about it. And then my conference got over.

Around 2 PM, after giving the closing address, the results were announced. 2 of us got recommended and I was one of them. I was really happy about getting recommended on my 1st attempt.

Journey To Join The National Defence Academy AIR-197

Hello there, my name is ABHISHEK SINGH, from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, and I have been recommended, to join the prestigious NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY, and secured AIR-197 in merit. I would like to thank SSBCRACK for motivating all the aspirants during the journey. Look, if you are passionate about your goals, if you are ready to persevere till you achieve them, be focused and committed during the journey, you will achieve what you wished, for sure. I also got screened out twice, but with each failure, the one thing that grew inside me was my belief that I will make it one day, and yes the day had come.

You know what was the best thing about me, I was ready to give 20 more attempts, grinding myself daily, but couldn’t accept myself quitting the race that I had flagged off, since I was a child. Such was my determination and I expect from every ssb aspirant who dreamt of being an officer in the Indian armed forces.

My journey started early, as I told you above when I was a child, fascinated by weapons, tanks, warriors, and since then, I always aspired to join the Indian army.

My first SSB, was of NDA-144, in Allahabad when I was in my class 12th, went there prepared, gave my best, and SCREENED OUT. It was the first setback. I gave my second attempt for TES-44 in Kapurthala, a year later with much more efforts, and again SCREENED OUT.

I introspected, worked on every possible weak point, believed in myself, and went for NDA-145, again in Allahabad, showed what I got within myself, and yes this time, I got recommended, and here’s my experience of my third ssb.

DAY -1: SCREENING

I gave my OIR Test, it went well, and in PPDT we were shown a blur rooftop view of a car and some hand were seen around the car, so gentlemen over there made stories on ‘rescuing people after accident’, rather I made a simple story of welcoming chief guest in teacher day ceremony in school. I narrated well, bold, clear, crisp to the point. In a group discussion, everyone spoke in order to get screened-in, I maintained my cool and gave relevant 2-3 points. I got screened at this time and got myself ready for stage-2 testing.

Tip – make a simple action-based positive story, narrate it boldly, confidently, and to the point. In gd, maintain your cool, and give 2-3 points. Maintain your body posture there, as the assessors over there are watching you in front.

DAY -2: PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING AND PERSONAL INTERVIEW

So, my day 2 started with TAT, where we were shown 12 pictures consecutively. I wrote what I felt was suitable, according to the pictures and in the last blank story, I wrote about my experience of distributing food to migrant workers during the nationwide lockdown. In wat, I could complete around 50 words, and in SRT, I managed to complete 36 SRT only. At that time, people said to me, ‘brother, only 36 SRTs, look we did 45,50,60, you will be in trouble. Moreover, this was also the first question, IO asked me during my personal interview, and I accepted, that I should have done more and at the same time assured him that whatever I wrote was good responses. The interviewing officer went on asking question-related to my academics, friends, family, armed forces, hobbies etc, and I replied to them confidently. The fun part was, he seemed to be impressed by my academics results, and then he went on asking basic maths questions, which I couldn’t answer correctly.

DAY-3 AND DAY-4: GTO TASKS

All of us, reported to the GTO ground early morning. Since it was cold, we all were shivering, so the GTO advised us to warm up. Our first task was a group discussion, on two different topics, in which our group really messed up. In that situation, I tried the best possible way to calm down everyone and gave relevant points for the topic.  The group planning exercise went really well, as I gave logical solutions to the problem. PGT, HGT also went good. We were able to figure out solutions within the given time. Our group also won the group obstacle race.

In lecturette, I got only 1 minute to prepare as the one before I stopped early, but I gave the lecture boldly, confidently. Tip – cheer yourself up, and feel like, you are on top of the world. The next day, in individual obstacles, I completed 9 obstacles in around 2 minutes, but couldn’t balance myself up in the zig-zag beam. But, I kept on trying till I ran out of time. During my command task, I was given a bomb disposal tasks, which seemed to be challenging at first sight, but with the help of subordinates, I was able to go through it, but the fun part was, the bomb diffuser, that needed to be picked up, was marked red, and out of excitement I picked it up, with the red-painted side. Then GTO put pressure by, asking me to rescue my subordinates as the bomb is not diffused, and they needed to escape within 5 minutes. I was not able to figure out the solution, but when only 15 sec was left, I came up with the idea and completed the task.

DAY-5: CONFERENCE

Now, after all the tasks, I had figured out all of my mistakes, and I started thinking, the way, I could have performed better. Some hoped some were confident, they will get recommended, but I was ready for any consequence. We went to the conference, and when my chance came, I went in, with a smile. it was the best moment, as I presented myself in front of 10-12 officers. The president of the board also smiled and asked me the same question, I was thinking about last night. He asked me, “Abhishek, what do you think, what all mistakes you did during your 5 days over here?”, and I went to count each of my mistakes in front of them. After the conference, when the result came, and when chest no. 6 was called to call his name, his eyes numb felt proud, stood and said “ 414070 ABHISHEK SINGH, SIR”.

NDA 1 2020 Cut Off Marks Published

UPSC has published the final cut off for NDA 1 2020. Total 533 candidates were recommended in NDA 1 2021, the minimum qualifying standard at the written stage was 355 marks out of 900 marks with a minimum of 25% in each subject. Total Marks secured by the last recommended candidate was 723 out of 1800 marks.

Wherever two or more candidates have secured equal aggregate marks in NDA & NA Examination (I), 2020, the tie (s) have been resolved in accordance with the following principles approved by the Commission, viz (i) In case of equal marks in aggregate, the candidate senior by age has been placed at higher rank. (ii) In case of candidates having the same age, the candidate getting more marks in the written examination has been placed at higher rank.

The Union Public Service Commission will be conducting the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I) 2021 at various Centers/Venues all over India on 18th April, 2021 (Sunday). The Commission has uploaded the e-Admit card for the convenience of the admitted candidates on the Commission’s web-site (https://upsconline.nic.in.). The admitted candidates are advised to download their e-Admit Cards for the Examination and take a printout thereof. Hello everyone, My name is Sahil Mallick and I got recommended for NDA-145 (Navy) from NSB Visakhapatnam and secured AIR 73. Since my father is active service personnel in the Navy, the dream to join this prestigious force was since childhood. My journey till recommendation wasn’t so smooth though.

I cleared my written exam on the third attempt. It was during the lockdown period, after my boards when I got an ample amount of time to practice. This time, I referred to certain youtube channels, various books having many MCQs and to SSBCrackExams. I purchased its NDA online course, where I got various explanatory videos of all relevant topics of maths as well as GAT along with 10 mock tests each. Now that is the key to success. If you want to have an assurance of being merit in, then the only way is to get very good marks in the written itself. And for that, you need to solve as many mock tests as you can, with proper time management and strategy. I had solved previous year papers starting from the year 2007 (but even 2014 onwards will do).

After giving my writing, I was pretty confident about clearing it. So I started with my SSB preparation. I got call letter for TES-44 SSB in Bhopal, where I got conference out. It helped me to analyze my weaknesses and faults and overcome them with practice. Some of the officers from my dad’s department had helped me a long way to sharpen up my way of expressing myself. Along with that, various videos from youtube and other sources, plus books on OIR & PPDT had provided great help in practising. I picked up random pictures from chrome and wrote stories on them within 4 minutes. After which I narrated it within a minute and even recorded my voice to give fine touches to my voice modulation. I got acquainted with various service related questions and prepared myself completely to face the SSB.

So the only difference I had this time was being more confident than the previous time, and that came only due to practice. So, aspirants, the only key to guarantee your success is to practice. My screening went smoothly, psych went well. I attempted all TATs, all WATs and 56 SRTs ( note that the number of responses doesn’t matter, it’s the quality that matters. There was a candidate who just attempted 34 SRTs still got recommended). The interview went for 45-50 minutes. The conference went for 5 minutes. Finally, 8 of us made it to the recommended list.

It is also very important that you remain true to your personality and not fake it in front of the assessors. This would ultimately lead to your own loss. So along with academics, continue talking to your friends, be lively, go out for running and playing and monitor your health in a good shape.

STANDARD AND SYLLABUS OF THE EXAMINATION:

TA Syllabus 2019

STANDARD: The standard of the papers in Elementary Mathematics will be a Matriculation level. The standard of papers in other subjects will approximately be such as may be expected of a graduate of an Indian university.

SYLLABUS:
Paper – I. Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics.
(a) Part – 1. Reasoning. The question paper will be designed to test the candidates ability to complete sequences making logical conclusion based on simple patter of numbers, statements, figures, letters etc as may be expected of a rational thinking person without any special study of the subject.
(b) Part – 2. Elementary Mathematics.
(i) Arithmetic. Number System – natural numbers, integers, rational and real numbers. Fundamental operations – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square roots, decimal fraction.
(ii) Unitary Method. Time and distance, time and work, percentages, application to simple and compound interest, profit and loss, ratio and proportion, variation.
(iii) Elementary Number Theory. Division algorithm, prime and composite numbers. Tests of divisibility by 2, 3, 4, 5, 9 & 11. Multiples and factors, factorization theorem, HCF and LCM. Euclidean algorithm, logarithms to base 10, laws of logarithms, use of logarithmic tables

(iv) Algebra. Basic operations, simple factors, remainder theorem, HCF, LCM, theory of polynomials, solutions of quadratic equations, relation between its roots and coefficients (only real roots to be considered). Simultaneous linear equations in two unknowns-analytical and graphical solutions. Simultaneous linear equations in two variables and their solutions. Practical problems leading to two simultaneous liner equations or in equations in two variables or quadratic equations in one variable and their solutions. Set language and set notation, rational expressions and conditional identities, laws of indices.
(v) Trigonometry. Sine x, cosine x, tangent x when O° < x < 90°. Values of sine x, cos x and ten x, for x = 0°, 30°, 45°, 60° & 90°. Simple trigonometric identities. Use of trigonometric tables. Simple cases of heights and distances.

  • Parallel lines.
  • Sides and angles of a triangle.
  • Congruency of triangles.
  • Similar triangles.
  • Concurrence of medians and altitudes.
  • Properties of angles, sides and diagonals of a parallelogram, rectangle and square.
  • Circle and its properties, including tangents and normal.
  • Loci.

(vii) Mensuration. Areas of squares, rectangles, parallelograms, triangle and circle. Areas of figures which can bisect into the figures (field book). Surface area and volume of cuboids, lateral surface and volume of right circular area of cylinders. Surface area and volume of spheres.
(viii) Statistics. Collection and tabulation of statistical data, graphical representation-frequency polygons, bar charts, pie charts, etc. Measures of central tendency.

Paper – II. General Knowledge and English.
(a) Part – 1. General Knowledge. General knowledge including knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observation and experience in scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject. The paper will also include questions on history of India and geography of nature which candidates should be able to answer without special study.
(b) Part – 2. English. The question paper will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding of English and workman – like use of words. Questions in English are from synonyms, antonyms, reading comprehension, Para jumbles, error spotting, jumbled sentences, sentence correction and fill in the blanks

CANDIDATES TO ENSURE THEIR ELIGIBILITY FOR THE EXAMINATION: The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfil all eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. Mere issue of Admission Certificate to the candidate will not imply that his candidature has been finally cleared by the competent authority.

  • TIME: Maximum time for each paper is 02 hrs and will be conducted in two sessions.
  • TYPE OF EXAM: Objective (OMR Answer Sheet will be used).
  • QUALIFYING MARKS: Minimum 40% marks in each part of the paper separately and overall average of 50%.
  • PENALTY FOR WRONG ANSWERS:Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.
  • FEE DETAILS: Candidates’ are required to pay a fee of Rs 200/- (Rupees two hundred only). Candidates should note that payment of examination fee can be made only through the modes prescribed at website. Payment of fee through any other mode is neither valid nor acceptable. EMBODIMENT FOR TRAINING:

(a) One month basic training in the first year of commission.

(b) Two months annual training camp every year including the first year.

(c) Three months Post Commissioning training within first two years at OTA, Chennai.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:

  • Territorial Army is part time concept with mandatory two months training in a year and does not provide full time career.
  • Serving in Territorial Army do not guarantee pension and the same is subject to embodied service as per organisational requirement.
  • Commission is granted in the rank of Lieutenant.
  • Pay and Allowances and privileges will be same as Regular Army Officers when embodied for training and military service.
  • Promotions upto Lt Col by time scale subject to fulfilling laid down criteria. Promotion to Colonel and Brigadier by selection.
  • Officers commissioned in Infantry TA may be called out for military service for longer duration depending on the requirement.

A candidate who qualifies in the written test of Preliminary Interview Board is required to bring the following documents in original along with self-attested copies at the time of Preliminary Interview Board:

  • Application Form IAF (TA)-9 (Revised) Part-2 to be downloaded from www.jointerritorialarmy.nic.in and fill it up in their own hand writing.
  • All educational qualification certificates (Matric onwards).
  • Latest physical fitness certificate from a registered MBBS Doctor.
  • Copy of Identity proof with photographs (Voter ID/PAN Card/Passport/Driving license etc).
  • Domicile/ Residential proof.
  • Certificate for proof of age (Matric/ Senior Secondary mark sheet and certificate for verification of date of birth).
  • Service certificate by candidates employed in Central Govt/ Union Territory/ State/Semi Govt/ Private Sector Authenticated by Head Office along with salary certificate and No Objection Certificate by the department as per format given below.
  • Self employed candidates are required to submit an Affidavit on Non-Judicial stamp paper of minimum value duly attested stating nature of employment and annual income along with photocopy of PAN card and self certified character certificate.
  • Candidates whose names vary in documents should submit copy of Gazette notification of India/ State showing the correct name or an affidavit duly supported by newspaper cuttings.
  • Latest income proof from the appropriate authority (i.e. Income Tax Revenue Department / Magistrate / Employer).
  • Copy of PAN Card.
  • Copy of Aadhar Card.
  • Copy of latest Income Tax Return (ITR) filed.
  • Employees of Railways are required to submit No Objection Certificate authenticated by Railway Board.

How TA will check you are gainfully employed or not? : During your PIB interview, you need to submit the latest Income latest income proof from the appropriate authority and Income Tax Return documents, that will explain your monthly salary/income.

SSB Kapurthala Scam: 6 Lt Col, 2 Major, 10 NCOs and OTA Cadets Booked by CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a corruption and criminal conspiracy case against 17 Indian Army personnel, including five Lieutenant Colonels and two Major-ranked officers apart from six others, in a recruitment scam at several Service Selection Board (SSB) Centres.

Among the officers named in the CBI First Information Report (FIR) are – Lt Col MVSNA Bhagwan (presently on study leave), who is also the alleged mastermind; Lt Col Surender Singh of 31 SSB centre North; Lt Col YS Chauhan of 6 Mountain Division Ordnance Unit; Lt Col Sukhdev Arora – Directorate General Recruiting; Lt Col Vinay (Group Testing Officer- Selection Centre South Bangalore); Major Bhavesh Kumar (GTO at 21 SSB, Kapurthala) and Major Amit Fagna (422, Field Hospital, Delhi Cantt). According to the CBI, all of them facilitated the selection of the candidates at SSBs.

The central anti-corruption agency registered its case on March 13 on a complaint filed by Brigadier (Vigilance) VK Purohit from the office of Additional Directorate General, Discipline and Vigilance, Adjutant General’s Branch, Army Headquarters. It is alleged that on February 28, 2021, input was received about the alleged involvement of serving personnel in accepting bribes for the clearance of review medical exam of temporarily rejected officer candidates at Base Hospital, New Delhi.
