Cracked SSB Interview In 7th and Last Attempt

0
ssb interview 2019

“If you haven’t failed, you haven’t won”. JAI HIND to future warriors. I am Bhanu Pratap Singh from Jodhpur, Rajasthan. I recently got recommended from 17 SSB, Bangalore for SSC/JAG 23rd Course, OTA in my 7th and last attempt. I was always hopeful and confident that one day I will be having this privilege to write my success story on this page. SSBCRACK has been my constant confidante. Reading the success stories of recommended candidates was always cherishing and motivating. I am specially writing this piece of experience for hardcore repeaters like myself who never laid down their weapons in pursuit of the goal.

ssbinterviewbook

BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The charm for uniform has been a historical phenomenon in my family. My father is serving officer in rajasthan police. He always had a dream to join the army but due to personal reasons he couldn’t. I am extremely happy to suffice his desire and make him proud. As a child I was fascinated towards the grumbling sound of army trucks and the aura of officers in their shining olive green. At a very early age I decided which path I would take in my life. But life does not work out the way we want. I wrote NDA examination and could not clear the same. I did not let my heart grow weak so after guidance I opted for law as a career. Immediately after I graduated in 2016 the series of SSB attempts started.

1st attempt – S/O

2nd attempt – C/O

3rd attempt – C/O

4th attempt – C/O

5th attempt – C/O

6th attempt – C/O

7th attempt – RECOMMENDED

DAY 1 REPORTING AND SCREENING

Total of 98 candidates reported on DAY 1. I was allotted chest no. 68. Screening has never been an issue with me because I perform well in the OIR test, write an innovative story in PPDT and effectively participate in the Group Discussion. I believe a different framing of a story including planned actions can be a game changer in screening. Be loud, assertive yet humble and screening will be a cake walk. 28 candidates were screened in and I was allotted chest no.21

OIR Test eBook SSBCrack

DAY 2 PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING

In my humble opinion, I believe TAT is the most important test of all in the psychological test series. Previously I committed mistakes in TAT by deliberately writing stories totally in contrast to my personality. I used to focus on bringing OLQ’s in all the stories. With time and good guidance I corrected this mistake and this time I wrote stories revolving around my experiences which I have undergone in 26 years of my life without giving due regard to bringing OLQ’s. I think the psychologist is well efficient to do that part. Therefore, TAT is a manifestation of your experiences and ideology which culminates into framing of a basic idea about an individual. So be honest and free while writing stories. Try to relate it with the PIQ form which you had already filled.

WAT was by far the most easiest of all. I wrote my genuine reactions on the displayed word without any regard to beauty of sentence. For eg: TEASE – Teasing friends is fun. It was a genuine reaction as I do enjoy troubling my friends.

SRT is a tricky affair. I managed to do 42 SRT’s but focused on quality and complete reaction. Just be genuine and keep responses practical. There is no right or wrong answers in SRT. It is just your personal reaction to a situation.

I completed my self description within time and wrote genuine opinions of my parents, employers, friends etc. Accept your shortcomings and write what measures you are taking to improve them.

DAY 3 & 4 GTO

I have always enjoyed GTO testing. My power of expression is my greatest strength and it proved handy in GTO. We were 10 as a group and all were repeaters so without a doubt there was a chaos in group discussion. I made sure that I spoke 4-5 times without interruption and with high assertiveness. Similarly in GPE I gave 2-3 valid points and sat back keeping my composure. I did not forget to smile within that chaotic situation. A smile can change the entire course of discussion. Do not let your ground get away and be confident.

PGT was a mess too. Our GTO was extremely frustrated after our group’s violent participation. I gave 2 ideas in PGT which worked and the other time I helped others to execute their ideas. I felt I was sidelined by everybody but I didn’t let my composure go away and maintained the smile.

In the HGT, I was able to give many ideas and I utilized the given opportunity. Until this time I was confident that the GTO has been watching me with expectation so I gave my best.

My lecturette topics to my surprise were below normal. Other candidates spoke on very interesting topics and I was busy gazing into that pad. During the 3 minute time for preparation for the topic, I was still deciding until almost 2 minutes had passed. My topics were-

  1. My favourite teacher
  2. My favourite subject
  3. My favourite player
  4. Smart phones

I chose smart phones to speak on and efficiently handled it by bringing day to day examples. I was satisfied with my lecturette.

I personally did the highest individual obstacles counting all my previous attempts. I did 14 individual obstacles with ease. It is important to enjoy the obstacles as the GTO is more concerned about your attitude towards obstacles.

spot_img

My command task was a bit tricky and by looking at the GTO’s reaction I was confident that I have a fair chance of clearing the GTO testing. The GTO took a short interview before explaining the task. He asked me about my current job, my hobbies, my reason to join the army, why I was not recommended previously etc. After much difficulty I could clear the command task and I was happy.

INTERVIEW

My interview was taken by the President of the Board. Previously I always feared the interview. I used to come under pressure and under perform. But this time I prepared myself with a notion that “I AM HERE TO GIVE MY BEST AND I WILL NOT CARE FOR THE RESULT”. This strategy worked and my interview went extremely smooth and comfortable. My prior preparation of current affairs proved to be a game changer.

IO:  So bhanu you mentioned that international relations is your favourite subject. Now tell me starting from east to west as to how many countries are facing acute civil war like situations. And also tell me the name of their president’s.

I was able to answer all the countries and he was satisfied.

IO:  Your father is in police service. Why don’t you continue the legacy?

IO: Tell me your father’s weakness.

IO: Why were you not recommended? Do you deserve to serve in the army?

I maintained my composure and smile during the interview despite persistent pressure imposed on me. I was honest and humble and displayed improvement.

CONFERENCE DAY (LIFE CHANGER)

Finally the day which brings hope, excitement and despair. We were dressed up in our formal attire and could see candidates praying to the almighty. I was relatively calm and composed. The conference soon started and when chest no. 20 left the conference room then suddenly my heart began to pump in a crazy way. That rush inside my heart was extremely loud and my ears were hot and could not hear anything. After a wait of 5-6 minutes, the buzzer went off and I walked in with heads held high and chest throttled up. The president was not present so I wished the deputy president who was a colonel and sat down. I was asked 3 questions:

  1. Bhanu, if you are made the Chief Justice of India for 2 days, what measures will you take to improve the judicial system of our country?

I replied giving 5 points and he seemed satisfied.

  • Bhanu, as a lawyer how will you help a college student who has been subjected to ragging?

I mentioned the steps and he further asked me to justify so I did successfully.

  • Bhanu, if you get recommended which regiment you would opt for in future?

I replied Sir, I would choose Gorkha Rifles.

He asked why gorkha?

I replied sir, my family members and friends say that I look like a gorkha since my childhood. So this constant reminder unconsciously fascinated me towards learning about the grit and valour of the mighty gorkha’s.

He stopped me right there, pat his hand on the table and the entire board members laughed.  He then wished me good luck and I was dismissed.

THE MOMENT OF RECKONING

The psychologist who conducted our tests came with the result. He was a Lieutenant Colonel. I have never seen such a true gentleman walking in his well creased, ironed uniform and his charming personality in the olive green impressed everybody in the room. He started calling the chest numbers. 3 candidates were already called and they stood near him. I thought that’s it. This is the end. Immediately the idea of alternate career engulfed my head and with hopeful eyes, I looked again. He took a deep breath and announced CHEST NO.21. HELL YEAH. I stood up with little drops of tears in my eyes, walked towards him, said my name and stood by. I stood shocked, surprised, happy and tons of other emotions ran throughout my body. As soon as the psychologist left the room, I cried like a baby. The failures of previous attempts flashed before my eyes. The struggle was real and it was worth it. My friends hugged me and congratulated. I could not hold my ground for at least half an hour. Finally, hard work paid off. BEING RECOMMENDED IN THE LAST ATTEMPT HAS ITS OWN ADVENTURE. Thanks to my parents and friends who always believed in my capabilities. I want to thank Rajpal Singh Rathore Sir who showed me the correct path in this journey. And the entire team of SSBCRACK.COM who constantly push candidates to perform. I am declared medical fit and waiting for the merit list. JAI HIND.

Cracked SSB Interview Two Times Back To Back

SSB Interview Navy

Hi, my name is SKANDA GAUTAM. I’m from Bangalore. I’m doing my Mechanical Engineering in U.V.C.E. I got recommended back to back for SSC TECH from NSB Vizag and SSC PILOT from 12SSB Bangalore in my first attempt. As a fresher, I had very little knowledge about SSB once I got my Call Up Letter I started interacting with my seniors and followed your page SSBCrack. Being a fresher it was very exciting and a different atmosphere altogether when compared to the College placements.

ssbinterviewbook

Around 240 people had reported on the first day put of which 28 got screened in and I was happy that I could make it through for the next 4 days and the most important was the Psychology test and the Personal interview. My interview went on for about 1 hour and I was now happy that I was able to answer all the questions ask by the interviewer my only advice for this is give straightforward answers and don’t think too much. If you have the 15OLQ’s you will be selected.

spot_img

The conference day was day is the most stressful day where you wait till afternoon for the results. Finally the officer comes and tells only two of you have been selected and calls my chest number.

And that’s it I don’t think there are any words to describe that feeling. After that I had my medicals for next few days INHS Kalyani.

10days later I had my second SSB for SSC PILOT in Bangalore. The only thing I had kept in mind was what Abdul Kalam had told ” Don’t take rest after your first victory because if you fail in second, more lips are waiting to say that your first victory was just luck”. I just went there with an open mind like a fresher and gave my best. Within a span of 15days I was recommended twice

And then I cleared my CPSS or PABT and my medicals and this is my story.

Cracked NDA SSB Interview In 1st Attempt

Cracked NDA SSB Interview

I am Akshat Srivastava and today I am here to share my success story on how I cleared my NDA-I 2019 SSB in my first attempt itself. After passing out from class 12, my goal was to reach NDA academy as soon as possible. I did my class 11th and 12th from a town called Neemrana in Rajasthan. There were no academies or any kind of guidance for me. So I decided to come back to my home town Lucknow and join coaching for my written and SSB preparations. I joined Centurion Defence Academy which provided me guidance for my written and SSB interview. I gave my written examination in the month of September 2018 and it went quite well. I was pretty sure that I’ll make it so I started to prepare for my SSB and in the month of November, results were out and I cleared my written examination. I was so excited to face first SSB of my life.

ssbinterviewbook

I was given guidance at the academy to react to situations and answer questions asked by the assessors. I was guided pretty well but I tried to keep my self raw and didn’t mug up things.I practiced TAT WAT and SRT from ssbcrack.com, YouTube videos and some at the academy. I didn’t by heart the stories but made a common pattern out of them. Days were passed and my SSB date was getting closer.

It was on 8th Feb 19 but we were told to report a day before i.e. on 7th Feb.I left lucknow on 6th Feb and reached Allahabad by midnight. I took an hotel and spent my night over there n the next morning I woke up with full enthusiasm. I groomed up like a gentleman in formals and was ready to report at the MCO on Allahabad station.

spot_img

From MCO, we were taken to the SSB centre and the first day, we were allotted with temporary chest numbers and out documents were verified then we went back to out dorms. Some of the seniors who were repeaters stared to tell their experience but I ignored them so that I don’t get nervous. I took my dinner in candidate’s mess and went to sleep.

Day1–  It was our screening day. I woke up early to skip the que for the washroom (really necessary ) then dressed up in formals and along with my group reported in the hall . OIR test was quite simple, I was able to attempt almost all of them . Then comes the main test i.e. PP&DT. It went very well, my story was completed on time and the narration was quite well. In group discussion we were able to draw common story and overall it went so good. I have performed naturally. I was clear about not to put extra efforts and to keep it simple. Finally,Most of us from our group were screened in.

Then we were given the PIQ forms. I filled it with real sincerity and honesty. Because it’s one of the most important forms in the SSB procedure.

Day 2 – The psychology day, I tried to relate all my stories and sentences of TAT and WAT with my hobbies and interests which were already mentioned in my PIQ to present a quality story and sentence explaining about me. SRT went very well as I attempted most of them in sequence and I was already prepared for my SD and blank story so it was completed right on time. Overall my psychology went very well.

Day 3&4 – The most amazing part of SSB are the group tasks. You get to go out on the ground and perform some physical activities . I along with my group members already planned all the tasks a day before (day 2) only so that there are no conflicts in the group. All the ground tasks went so well and our group leaded in all the tasks among all the other groups .  So GTO went excellent. All the individual tasks like individual obstacles, lecturate, command task went very well .

Personal Interview – my interview was short and simple . It went for around 25-30 mins. In which mostly rapid fire questions were asked n some technical questions related to my subjects n interests were asked. I answered them easily and my interview went buttery smooth. I was confident in all my answers and presents all my qualities and flaws positively with an optimistic approach. I had already done a lot of practise through regular mock interviews which helped me a lot.

Day 5 (conference and result) –

We all were so excited for our conference. All of us dressed in formals wearing blazers. Every one of us were looking stunning. My conference didn’t last too long. I was asked some basic questions only like how was the stay & food.

Finally our results were announced and when they called out my chest number I burst out of happiness and tears. I contacted my parents and teachers immediately and told them about my selection. They were so happy and felt proud about it.

OIR Test eBook SSBCrack

Again document verification was done and medical forms were filled. Medical examination went pretty well. I was given a TR but it was not a major issue so I got it cleared from Base Hospital Delhi Cantt. I was amazed to see my SSB marks. I was able to secure 394 marks from Allahabad board which is also known as rejection board. I was best scorer in SSB from my batch. It helped to secure my position in merit list. By the grace of God, next week, finally I will be joining NDA.

The main approach in SSB should be that you have to answer or perform any task with confidence. Be honest in all your answers n present yourself in a positive manner. My best wishes and regards for all SSB aspirants and special thanks to SSB crack team for helping us throughout. Thank you so much.

Recommended for Indian Airforce from 4 AFSB Varanasi (Flying Branch) and for Indian Navy from NSB Coimbatore (SSC Tech)

ssb interview experience

I still remember when I was in class IV, our class teacher asked us what we wanted to become. Out of 40-50 students in our class, around 35 answered Pilot and I was also one of them. I don’t know why we answered it. I think it sounded cool and whichever teacher asked our answer was always the same. Never had I realised back then that my dream would become a reality someday. If you would have asked me last year what I wanted to become. My answer would have been, “An officer in Indian Armed forces” but destiny had something else in store for me. My name is Upendra Singh. I got Recommended from 4 AFSB Varanasi in AFCAT 2 2018 entry for flying branch. The following week, I also got recommended for Indian Navy from NSB Coimbatore in SSC Tech. Entry.

ssbinterviewbook

I completed my B.Tech from PSIT, Kanpur. I belong to Army Background as my father was in Indian Army. I did my schooling from various Army Public Schools, another perk of being a Fauji kid. An NCC cadet at heart, the motivation to join the Defence forces was from the starting. But I must tell you the journey to this day was not at all smooth. I failed many times but that is what life is all about. You fail, you get up, analyse what went wrong, you try again and repeat this until you succeed. That’s the mantra to success. Now without wasting much time, I should proceed with my story. What I did to get here. I’ll describe my AFSB experience in detail to cut short my NSB one.

AFCAT Question Papers

Air Force Selection Board, Varanasi (12 Nov – 17 Nov 2018)

12/11/2018 (Day 1)

I reported at Varanasi Junction Railway Station at 6:30 AM and after a short document verification we were taken to AFSB. A total of 141 candidates reported. Firstly, OIR was conducted. OIR was easy and I was able to complete all the questions well within the time limit. After that Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT) was conducted. I made a story related to my Final year project and related it to the picture shown to us. After that we were taken to the discussion room where the assessors briefed us. I gave my narration confidently. Despite being a repeaters group, our discussion went smooth, fortunately. Now we were waiting for the results of I Stage.

Some tips to follow during I stage of testing:

  • Since there is no negative marking in OIR Test, try to attempt as many questions as possible.
  • Narration is very crucial. Deliver it confidently in loud voice and address it to every candidate sitting there.
  • Try not to interrupt anyone while they speak because group behaviour is something they notice while discussion.

After I stage of testing, DSO sir came with the results. Out of 141 candidates, 41 candidates were screened in and were retained for II Stage of Testing. I was given chest no. 31.

After thorough document verification we had our lunch and we took rest in the room allotted to us.

In the evening, Psychological Tests were scheduled. This is one test that I had never felt confident about but now I think that this is the test that has led to my recommendation.

Moving forward, I did all 12 TAT stories. All the stories that I had written were somewhat related to me and the things I do such as NCC, Football, academics etc.

I was able to complete 43 WATs and wrote 45 SRTs. I had prepared my Self-description beforehand so had no problem in writing that part.

Tips:

  • Psychology is related to your personality so write mostly about the things you do or any experience you have encountered. Be it TAT, WAT or SRTs.
  • As you all know Quality is important not quantity. Speed is important.
  • In Self-Description, if you are mentioning your weakness then its important that you also mention what are you doing to overcome it because no one is perfect. Moreover, they are not looking for the perfect fit. They are looking for a right fit.

Day 2: Group Tasks I

This is one part that I am always confident about. Being a sportsperson I always love this part of the testing.

The two GD did not went good. In the first discussion I was able to speak only 1 time since there was chaos. In the second GD, I was able to contribute only 2 times. But don’t lose hope if you are not able to perform in some specific test. Try to give your best in next one.

In Group Planning exercise (GPE), I was able to write my individual solution in specified time. Mention Time, distance and resources that you will utilize in your solution. Then we had to discuss among themselves to reach a common solution so again discussion started. The discussion was intense. I initiated the discussion and was able to speak 2 times only.

The Progressive group task (PGT) was not so great. We got stuck in the second obstacle and were able to complete only 3 obstacles. One thing here when GTO sir tell something to the group. Listen carefully he tries to give hints to clear the obstacles. I was able to give some ideas and contributed to the group like a team player.

Group race(or Snake race) was not conducted because some repairing work was going on.

Half Group Task (HGT) was good. We were able to complete the task very easily within the given time.

In lecturette, Among the 4 topics I had I chose to spoke on “Strategic Importance of Indian Ocean”. I was able to speak confidently.

Day 3: Group Tasks II

Day started with Individual Obstacles (IO). Individual Obstacles went good and I was able to do 9. I was the only one in my whole batch who did rope climbing. During Monkey Crawl my hand slipped when I was just at the finish line, so that was the only obstacle that I was not able to do.

Command task went great. GTO sir gave me a problem and I did it. Then he said suppose that structure is not there. Again I did it with another approach. Then he said that you don’t have rope now. Do it with Balli and plank only. Again I did it with another approach. That was it. I was called as a sub-ordinate 4 times.

OIR Test eBook SSBCrack

Final group task (FGT) is just like an formality and we were able to complete it.

Day 4: Interview

My Interview lasted for about 45-50 minutes. I was asked questions related to my education, family, friends, Hobbies, some GK questions etc. He asked that why I did NCC from Army Wing and not from Air Wing. At that time assembly elections were going to take place in 5-6 states so he asked me the names of the states and what all issues are present in those states in brief. Since I captained my college football team so he asked about what all challenges I faced. Which football team I support and if I have had any girlfriends or not. Names of my friends, their strengths & weakness. My strengths & weakness. About which aircraft I want to fly. Which all aircrafts does Indian Air force have?  Roles of Sukhoi and jaguar fighter planes. Since the name of the room we were staying in was Mi-17 so he also asked about that. Then he asked about the places we visited in Varanasi. He asked me about any secrets that I have. I declined answering that by saying if I will tell you then they won’t be any secrets anymore. I think overall he was satisfied with my answers.

My only advice to all of you would be that be truthful. If you don’t know the answer then kindly say I don’t know. Avoid beating around the bush. Keep your answers short and to the point.

Day 5: Conference

I was the first one to appear before the officers and I was made to wait for around 10-15 minutes. I entered the hall. Greeted them and they asked me to sit.

The first question he asked was about my previous attempts and what all steps had I taken before appearing this time. I answered everything I had done for self-improvement.

Next Question: What motivates you to join Indian Air force?

Answer: Sir, Being a sportsperson I always wanted a job which allows me to lead a sporty life along with my duties and responsibilities and I think Indian Air Force allows me to do so. Moreover, the uniform and the person donning it has so much respect in the society. I would be flying an aircraft which is dream for so many. I don’t think any other job offers you so much.

The following questions were about my stay and food. Then he said Thank you Upendra and Best of Luck for your future. You can leave now.

After this I had a positive vibe about my recommendation but was not sure.

We waited for about 1 hour after the conference was over and then DSO sir came with the results.

He told that out of 41 they have only recommended only 2. Well that increased our nervousness level.

He started announcing. First chest number that have been recommended is Chest no. 30… and then a little pause and then he said Chest no. 31..(I was chest no. 31). That was the best feeling in the world. The feeling of finally achieving what you have dreamt from your childhood days. The dream that haven’t let you sleep.

Well, that followed by a lot of form filling. Chest no. 30 was not eligible for flying branch so he was sent home after form filling. I was retained for CPSS that was to be conducted the following day.

Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS)

CPSS is also conducted in 2 stages:

1. 1st there will be a MCQ test. They will first give you instructions how to read 6 kind of dials present in an aircraft, based on that there will be a number of MCQ tests which include dial reading questions along with IQ, pattern matching, basic maths, 3-d shapes, mirror images (around 15 small quizzes in total). It is fairly simple.

2. After you clear 1st test you will be made to sit in a CPSS machine which is like a cockpit with a joystick, pedals and a lever (like in an aircraft) with a screen in front of you. You will be made to play a number of games similar to a video game with joystick and you have to get a certain score in all games combined to clear this test. Anyone who drives or has played video games can clear this one easily. You just need hand leg coordination. You get a total of 4 chances in which the 1st one is a practice set so as to make you familiar with what you actually have to do and the next 3 chances are live ones in which the best score out of the 3 is considered, so if you mess up in the 1st attempt you can make up for it in the other 2 attempts.

I was able to clear the CPSS and was recommended to become a pilot in Indian Air Force.

Now, I am going to be a pilot in Indian Air Force. Hoping to be a fighter pilot.

Naval Selection Board, Coimbatore (21 Nov – 25 Nov 2018)

Day 1: Screening

A total of 81 candidates reported.

The OIRs were almost similar and I was able to complete it very easily. Gave a decent narration and during discussion our group was divided into 2 parts. I was able to speak for 3 times during narration. I was happy with my performance and was waiting for the results.

Results came and out of 81 candidates, only 26 were screened in.

ssbinterviewbook

Day 2: Psychological Test

I followed the same strategy for psychological test as I mentioned above. Was able to complete 12 stories in TAT. I did 45 WATs and 45 SRTs again. Self-Description was prepared beforehand and was able to write it easily in the given time frame.

Day 3: Ground Task I

Our GTO sir was very strict and he scolded and mocked each one of us during task. Our group was so cooperate that the both GDs and GPE went very smooth. Everyone was able to speak sufficient points. Everything went good and I was able to give ideas whenever our group stuck at any place. I did 10 IOs here and the topic for my Lecturette was “Indian Navy”. I spoke comfortably for 3 minutes.

Day 4: Ground Task II

Command task was good and FGT was completed very easily by the group.

My Interview was scheduled on this day. When I reached the interviewing officer room, the first question he asked was about my previous attempts and my performance in it. I told him that I got recommended for Indian Air Force 4 days ago. He told me to show the recommendation letter. I showed him my letter in which medical dates are mentioned, then he asked me everything about the ships. If I would be an electronics engineer on a naval ship, what would be my job and what all electronics equipment are present on the ship. Then normal technical questions about radars. Some GK questions. Then my interview was over.

Day 5: Conference

Before my turn to enter the conference hall, I was made to wait for around 10-15 minutes and only I was made to wait for this long.

I entered the hall and the officer on my left asked some technical questions and he asked some SRTs and usual stuff like accommodation and food. After that I was told to leave.

We all were waiting for results. The Officer came and said we have only recommended only 1 candidate and asked us to guess the chest number. Some candidates said chest no. 17 (which was me) and officer announced chest no. 17. I was retained for further filling up of forms which took around 3-4 hours.

So, this was my journey at both the SSBs. To get recommendations I had done a lot of things to improve myself. Introspection is at the top in that. Since I was not that good in my communications skills so I started reading novels. I used to play football regularly so that has helped me to remain fit. I used to take part in the activities organised in class to build my confidence as public speaking was something that I feared a lot.

At last, I would like to thank my parents, siblings, friends, seniors, juniors, football mates, NCC mates, teachers and everyone who had been a part of my life because if it were not for them, I would not have been the same person that I am today. Thank you all.

Keep your josh high!
