Recommended in 3rd attempt from 19 SSB Allahabad with AIR 13

0

Hello Folks!! I am Vishal Kumar Chauhan recently got recommended in my third attempt from 19 SSB Allahabad with AIR 13.

The journey started on 6th March 2018 when I reached SSB center and we total of 60 guys were allotted 19 SSB.

7th March: The Screening Day

I answered almost all the questions in OIR test. In Picture Perception test, the picture showed a malnourished old aged person standing in front of a slum area. I made a practical story and wrote well in time, narrated the story fluently and confidently without any pause.

After 2-3 hours of waiting, the results were declared and total 30 candidates were screened in.

For screening part, I would like to tell that narration matters a lot. Be fluent while narrating. It has a good impact on assessors.

8th March: Psychology Test

I wrote all TAT stories, attempted all 60 WAT, 60 SRT and completed SDT well before time.

For psychology part, i would like to mention that try to connect most of what you write with your PIQ.

9th March: GTO Day 1

Well. GTO gets a lot more easy when the group is good, when you have a descent knowledge and moreover you are good at communication skills. With all these, I managed to perform satisfactorily in both GD’s and GPE. Now comes that fatta balli task. I gave some ideas, motivated group members and kept myself engaged within the group.

Evening:The Interview

Waited for 45 minutes before my interview. I went inside the room, greeted the IO, had a firm hand shake with him and sat down. Got a nice compliment from IO within few minutes of the interview. He said, ” Vishal. In my entire career, I have not seen any candidate whose educational graph from Class 10th to Graduation has gone up and that too by this good level.”  I was literally blushing and thanked him for the compliment. He asked me how I managed to do so. I answered with a witty smile -” Hardwork, sir “. Then the interview went for around 45-50 minutes and revolved around PIQ and my life only except for some general knowledge questions which most of them i wasn’t able to answer. Interview was over and I had very mix type of feelings.

For ithe nterview, remain calm as much as possible and smile as it reflects confidence.

PS.- I had 79.8% in my 10th, 87% in 12th and 87.19% in B. Tech (CSE).

10th March: GTO Day 2

We all were made to run atleast 2 km in the name of warm up and all were cursing the staff. GTO started the day with Command Task. I was called by 2 group members and was given a very simple task which i completed in less than 3 minutes. After that we had Individual Obstacles and I managed to complete 12 obstacles. The day ended with FGT.

11th March: D Day “Conference”

All dressed well and ready for conference. I was expecting some SRT’s during my conference but it went for 3 minutes and i was asked those repetitive questions about stay, food, rate the performance.

We all were sitting and eagerly waiting for the results when the officer came and started announcing results. Chest no. 3, Chest No. 7 and then he said Chest No. 14, that’s me, I said . We stood in the front and the officer told –  that’s it guys and he left the hall. Two freshers and I was the only repeater who were recommended. Tears started rolling down my cheeks and within few seconds i burst into tears. I ran out and called my Mom and my best friend Himanshu Joshi.

Medicals :

We underwent medicals for 8 days. I got three TR’s. One got cleared in Appeal Medical Board but two still are pending. Hoping for best in RMB but already prepared for worst i.e. Medical Out.

We really can’t do much in medicals. Somewhere there is luck which plays a damn good role. We need both the recommendations – SSB as well as Medical to get into the dream academy.

For me, medical is still a great challenge ahead. But will continue my journey to become an officer someday or the another if not this time and if not being given PR.

All the best Future Warriors. Make yourself proud!!

Bharat Mata ki Jai 🙂

Did You Know, Before INSV Tarini, IAF Also Did a Circumnavigation of Globe?

INSV Tarini and its crew are the talk of the season because they have achieved something that the whole country is proud of. Read more about it here.

But, did you know that the Indian Air Force has achieved such feat with one of its planes way back in 2007?

Not only did they circumnavigated the globe but set a new world record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe on a microlight.

Circumnavigation in a Microlight

IAF attempted an expedition of great magnitude in order to set a new world record for the fastest time in circumnavigating the world in the 300-500 kg weight category.

The Expedition covering a distance of 37,000 km in approx 45 days was undertaken in a German manufactured Microlight, the CTSW Advance.

Previous Record

Earlier, the record stood at 99 days whereas the expedition did it in 64 days. The route entailed transit through twenty countries.

Till that date, only two microlights had accomplished this feat. The first was in 1998 by a British pilot, Brian Milton (along with K. Reynolds and P Petrov part of the way), taking 121 days. The second was by another British pilot, who took 99 days in 2000. This is the current record.

The Crew

Wg Cdr Rahul Monga and Wg Cdr Anil Kumar were the crew who set out to attempt this record. Wg Cdr Rahul Monga, 37, normally flies attack helicopters while his co-pilot Wg Cdr Anil Kumar, 38, handles supersonic jet fighters.

Wg Cdr Rahul Monga and Wg Cdr Anil Kumar with their microlight

Wg Cdr Monga, while preparing himself for this D-Day for two years, had done a trip around the whole of India. Incidentally, Monga also holds the record for the highest altitude gain by an Indian in a microlight plane, when he reached an altitude of 21,000 feet in May 2004 at the Hindon air base.

The Route

The expedition first headed off eastwards on June 1 and made the first stop at Allahabad. After a few hours of rest, it took off again towards Bagdogra. From there the duo headed out to Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Russia United States, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Denmark, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Oman and finally returned to India from the Western region into Jamnagar and to Delhi via Udaipur. Following are the figures which helped set this record:

Total Flight Plan Distance: 41303 km/ 22302 nm

Total Great circle Distance: 39549 km/21355 nm

Total flying time: 236 hours

Total fuel: 3900 liters

NDA Passing Out Parade 30 May 2018 National Defence Academy

0
NDA POP Cover

The Passing Out Parade is the most spectacular among the end-of-term events at the NDA. It is also the culminating event of another successful term.

The unique parade held at the Khetarpal Parade Ground on 30 May comprised about 1000 participating cadets bidding farewell to their senior colleagues. A masterly display of drill movements, synchronised with the accompanying band ingrained long lasting memories in participants as well as viewers. The haunting strains of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ and the Adjutant on his charger accompanied the passing out cadets to The Final Steps.

President Reviews the Parade

President Ram Nath Kovind was here to review the passing out parade of the 134th course and described the armed forces as a “rare breed of human beings” and said they are a symbol of excellence and dedication for the entire country.

The President said a soldier or an officer in uniform, irrespective of whether he or she is from the Army, the Navy or the Air Force, evokes admiration and trust everywhere in the country.

“If a fellow citizen sees a member of the armed forces at a railway station or a market or at any other place, there is an immediate emotion of pride and reassurance,” he noted.

Commending their unparalleled and unquestioning service to the nation in times of war and peace — on the border or within the country — during a natural calamity, Kovind said “the armed forces represent the best of the Indian ethos”.

The President expressed confidence that the graduating cadets would prove worthy successors to the unflinching and fearless officers who have preceded them.

Conclusion

In the closing moments, the mast at the Quarter Deck was seen manned by the cadets of the junior most course to cheer on the passing out course as they went past the Quarter Deck in slow march. At the final step, engulfed by a flood of nostalgia spanning three eventful years, each cadet felt justifiably proud of his achievement. Three years ago, he had entered the portals of this hallowed institution with a little trepidation perhaps; he leaves now a young man strong in body and mind, confident and assured and proud of values imbibed here. He is well on his way to achieving the ideals of an officer and a gentleman.
