India Celebrating its  82nd Air Force Day
You have never lived until you almost die, for those who fight for it Life has a different flavor that the protected will never know”. The Indian Airforce was founded in the year 1932 as the Royal Air Force of the British Empire. It was first an auxiliary force and then the prefix royal was added to it in recognition of its services in the Second World War. After independence the Royal Air Force served India, and the term royal was dropped after India became a republic. Air Force say is celebrated every year on 8th of October, in order to celebrate the foundation day of Indian Air Force. This year, i.e. in 2014, India will celebrate its 82nd Air Force day.

Indian Airforce is the air arm of India. IAF is responsible for guarding the skies of India. They have proven time and again their worth. IAF is not only responsible for participating in wars to safeguard our motherland but also to provide help in any relief operation. IAF is a huge family of approximately 175,000 personnel’s and 1500 aircrafts. Our Air Force constitutes of different types of aircrafts like fighters, multirole fighters, transport, trainers, tankers, helicopters and drones. It is decorated with many personnel’s who have received gallantry awards for their valor in and away from the battlefield. IAF has successfully participated in number of operations conducted by India and UNO.

Many ceremonial acts are conducted across the air force stations all over the country. The Airforce Family takes part with great enthusiasm in the celebrations. Though Indian Air Force is not a national festival like Independence Day or Republic day but yet it has importance of its own. As a citizen of India its our responsibility to recognize this day atleast. Who doesn’t loves the sprawling jets, the feeling of flying free in the air, the pride of serving the motherland. On this Air Force Day lets pledge to spend atleast five minutes in reading about our air arm. Jai Hind and Happy Air Force Day.
