The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken strict action against the toll collection agency responsible for the incident involving misbehavior with an Army personnel at Bhuni Toll Plaza on the Meerut–Karnal section of NH-709A on 17 August.
Following a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical fight, NHAI has imposed a penalty of ₹20 lakh on the toll operating agency, M/s Dharam Singh, citing a serious breach of contract and failure to maintain staff discipline.
In addition, NHAI has initiated termination and debarment proceedings against the agency, which could bar it from participating in future toll plaza contracts.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Police has lodged an FIR and arrested six individuals linked to the incident.
NHAI strongly condemned the behavior of toll staff and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safe and seamless travel across National Highways.
