As part of the celebrations marking the 93rd Air Force Day, personnel of Air Force Station Bhuj organised a series of events honouring courage, heritage, and community engagement.
In a moving tribute, the station honoured the Veeranganas of the 1971 Indo-Pak War — the brave women from Madhapar village who played a pivotal role in reconstructing the Bhuj airfield after it was bombed during the war. These women worked tirelessly for three days under challenging conditions, restoring operational readiness and enabling crucial air operations. Their spirit and determination remain an enduring inspiration for future generations.
To pay homage to their contribution, station ladies organised a walkathon alongside the Veeranganas as a gesture of respect and solidarity, celebrating their legacy of resilience and patriotism.
A Static Display was also organised at the station, showcasing the Indian Air Force’s cutting-edge capabilities. The exhibition featured fighter aircraft, surface-to-air missile systems, radar technology, transport vehicles, and equipment from the Garud Special Forces, reflecting the professionalism and dedication of the men and women in blue.
The event drew participation from school and college students, NCC cadets, veterans, and local families, underscoring the strong bond between the Air Force and the local community.
Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat and Maharashtra, Acharya Devvrat, graced the occasion and was briefed on the nuances of the equipment on display. He commended AF Station Bhuj’s vital role during Operation Sindoor and lauded such initiatives for fostering greater awareness about the Air Force’s contribution to national defence. He also highlighted how events like these motivate the youth to pursue careers in the Indian Air Force.
The celebration at AF Station Bhuj served as a reminder of the IAF’s glorious history, its connection with the people, and its continuous commitment to serving the nation with honour and excellence.
