Bharat Forge has secured defence contracts worth approximately ₹300 crore under the Emergency Procurement–VI (EP-VI) framework, marking a major boost to India’s indigenous unmanned systems capability and rapid defence modernisation efforts.

The EP-VI contracts, awarded for the Indian Army and for end use by the Indian Navy, cover a range of homegrown unmanned platforms developed to meet urgent operational requirements across diverse terrains and mission profiles.

Indigenous Unmanned Platforms Inducted

The systems inducted under the contracts include Omega One, Omega Nine, Bayonet, and Cleaver, spanning intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) roles as well as loitering munitions. Designed, developed, and manufactured in India, these platforms align closely with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and the Armed Forces’ emphasis on rapid capability deployment through domestic industry.

Army Day Showcase Signals Readiness

Bharat Forge’s unmanned capabilities were publicly showcased during the Army Day Parade in Jaipur on January 15, where Omega One was displayed mounted on an upgraded BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle. The demonstration before senior military leadership underscored the system’s operational readiness and highlighted the growing role of indigenous engineering in modern battlefield solutions.

Industry Confidence Under Emergency Procurement

According to the company, the EP-VI framework demands compressed delivery timelines without compromising on quality, reliability, or scalability. The award of these contracts reflects increasing confidence within the defence establishment in Indian industry’s ability to deliver complex and time-critical technologies.

Commenting on the development, Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director, said the twin milestones of securing EP-VI contracts and showcasing Omega One at Army Day reaffirm the company’s commitment to building India-specific, electronically resilient, and combat-ready unmanned systems for the Armed Forces.

Focus on Autonomy and AI

Bharat Forge is continuing to enhance its unmanned portfolio with advanced autonomy, artificial intelligence, and data-driven decision-making capabilities. These technologies aim to improve endurance, precision, survivability, and adaptability in contested operational environments.

With sustained investment in design, manufacturing, and next-generation autonomy stacks, Bharat Forge is positioning itself as a key pillar of India’s unmanned and autonomous defence ecosystem—supporting the Armed Forces while reducing dependence on imported critical technologies.
