Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Army Training Command (ARTRAC), visited the Institute of Military Law (IML) on 21 February 2026 to review its training ecosystem and future roadmap.

During the visit, the Army Commander was briefed on ongoing training activities, infrastructure development and the transformational objectives of the Institute aimed at strengthening professional military legal education. The briefing highlighted efforts to modernise curriculum delivery in line with the evolving operational and disciplinary requirements of the Armed Forces.

Lt Gen Devendra Sharma also interacted with student officers attending the Military Law Service Course (MLSC). In his address, he underscored the critical role of Military Law in upholding discipline, justice and command effectiveness within the Armed Forces, emphasising that sound legal knowledge is essential for ethical and effective military leadership.

Reviewing the Institute’s future training roadmap, the Army Commander stressed the importance of closely aligning military legal training with emerging service requirements, contemporary operational challenges and organisational reforms. The visit reaffirmed ARTRAC’s commitment to developing a robust, future-ready military legal framework to support the Indian Army’s professional excellence.
