In a significant step towards enhancing combat fitness and training standards, Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, inaugurated a state-of-the-art Synthetic Military Obstacle Course at the Army Institute of Physical Training (AIPT), Pune.
The newly developed all-weather facility features meticulously designed obstacles along with night-training capability, enabling realistic and high-intensity training for troops. The course is aimed at enhancing physical endurance, mental agility, and overall operational preparedness in line with the evolving demands of modern warfare.

Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Seth emphasized that the changing character of warfare requires soldiers to be physically resilient, mentally robust, and capable of responding effectively under extreme conditions. He noted that such advanced infrastructure will play a crucial role in preparing troops for complex and dynamic battle environments.
The Army Commander further highlighted that purpose-built training facilities like the Synthetic Military Obstacle Course are vital in shaping a future-ready force, capable of meeting multifarious challenges of future conflicts.

Senior officers, instructors, and trainees witnessed the inauguration, marking another milestone in strengthening the Indian Army’s training ecosystem.

The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continued focus on modernizing training infrastructure and building a fitter, tougher, and battle-ready force equipped for the challenges of contemporary warfare.
