In a major boost to sports and fitness infrastructure, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, inaugurated a state-of-the-art six-lane athletic running track, a 2.5-meter jogging track, and a modern water sprinkler system at the Raina Sports Complex, Chandimandir Military Station.
The newly developed facilities are aimed at enhancing physical training standards and promoting a healthy lifestyle among troops. The addition of advanced infrastructure is expected to significantly improve training conditions for athletes and personnel stationed at Chandimandir.
Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Katiyar emphasized the importance of physical fitness and sports in maintaining operational readiness and overall well-being of soldiers. He noted that such initiatives reflect the Army’s commitment to providing world-class facilities for its personnel.
The upgraded Raina Sports Complex will also serve as a hub for recreational activities, offering improved avenues for families residing at the military station. The inclusion of a water sprinkler system ensures better maintenance of the grounds, supporting year-round usage.
Senior officers, personnel, and families attended the inauguration ceremony, marking another step forward in strengthening welfare and infrastructure within the Indian Army.
