Lucknow, May 30, 2026: The Ceremonial Parade of Medical Officers Basic Course-257 (MOBC-257) was held at the Officers Training College, AMC Centre & College, on 30 May 2026, marking a proud milestone in the journey of 125 young Medical and Dental Officers who were commissioned into the Armed Forces Medical Services.
The newly commissioned officers included 28 Lady Officers, reflecting the growing participation of women in military medicine and their vital role in strengthening the healthcare capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces.
The parade was reviewed by Lt Gen Shivinder Singh, Commandant, AMC Centre & College, who addressed the young officers and urged them to uphold the highest standards of compassion, humility, professionalism and dedication while serving the nation.

A Proud Moment for Young Medical and Dental Officers
The commissioning parade marked the formal entry of the newly trained doctors and dental officers into the Armed Forces Medical Services, one of the most respected medical organisations in the country. The ceremony was conducted with military precision and ceremonial dignity, symbolising the transition of civilian medical professionals into uniformed officers of the Indian Armed Forces.
As they step into their new roles, these officers will be entrusted with the responsibility of providing medical care not only in well-equipped military hospitals but also in demanding field conditions, forward locations, high-altitude areas and operational zones.
Their role will extend beyond routine healthcare. They will be expected to support troops during training, operations, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and combat situations, where quick decision-making and clinical excellence can save lives.

Lt Gen Shivinder Singh Calls for Compassion and Professionalism
In his address, Lt Gen Shivinder Singh congratulated the officers on successfully completing their training and reminded them of the noble responsibility they now carry as part of the Armed Forces Medical Services.
He exhorted the officers to remain committed to the core values of the medical profession while adapting to the discipline and demands of military service. He emphasised that compassion, humility and dedication must remain central to their conduct as military doctors.
The Reviewing Officer also highlighted the importance of professional excellence in the evolving security environment, where medical officers are required to operate in complex and high-pressure conditions.

Training Designed for Modern Battlefields
The Medical Officers Basic Course-257 was designed to prepare the officers for the changing nature of warfare and the expanding responsibilities of military medicine. The course included intensive training in military ethos, leadership, service traditions and field medical responsibilities.
A major focus of the training was on Combat Casualty Care and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). These modules are critical in modern battlefields, where timely trauma management, rapid evacuation and effective lifesaving interventions can significantly improve survival rates.
The officers were trained to respond to injuries caused by modern weapons, blast trauma, gunshot wounds, battlefield emergencies and mass casualty situations. Such training ensures that medical officers can provide immediate and effective care in operational environments, even under pressure.
Strengthening the Armed Forces Medical Services
The commissioning of 125 Medical and Dental Officers will further strengthen the Armed Forces Medical Services, which plays a crucial role in maintaining the health, morale and operational readiness of soldiers, sailors and air warriors.
The AFMS has consistently contributed to national service during wars, counter-insurgency operations, natural disasters, pandemics and humanitarian missions. Its officers serve across Army, Navy and Air Force establishments, including field hospitals, military hospitals, border areas, ships, air bases and high-altitude posts.
With the induction of this new batch, the Armed Forces will gain a fresh group of trained medical professionals ready to serve in diverse and challenging conditions.
New Ceremonial Gate and Saluting Dais Inaugurated
The occasion also witnessed the inauguration of a new Ceremonial Gate and Saluting Dais at the Officers Training College, AMC Centre & College. The new infrastructure adds to the ceremonial grandeur of the institution and will serve as an important landmark for future parades and military events.
The inauguration marked another significant moment for the institution, which continues to train medical officers to meet the operational and healthcare needs of the Armed Forces.
A New Chapter of Service Begins
For the 125 newly commissioned Medical and Dental Officers, the parade marked the beginning of a new chapter in uniform. Their journey ahead will demand commitment, courage, discipline and a deep sense of service.
As military doctors, they will be required to combine medical expertise with the spirit of soldiering. Whether in hospitals, field areas, combat zones or disaster relief missions, their role will remain vital to the wellbeing and effectiveness of the Armed Forces.
The Ceremonial Parade of MOBC-257 stood as a proud reminder of the Armed Forces Medical Services’ enduring motto of service, sacrifice and care for those who defend the nation.
