Lieutenant General Girish Kalia, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Spear Corps, visited an Assam Rifles unit deployed in Tupul, Manipur, and forward posts along the Indo-Myanmar Border in Chandel district to review operational preparedness and the prevailing security situation.
During the visit, Lt Gen Kalia was briefed on the operational environment, border management measures and ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region. He reviewed the readiness of troops deployed in strategically important border areas and assessed measures being undertaken to address emerging security challenges.
The Corps Commander also visited forward locations along the Indo-Myanmar Border, where he evaluated surveillance mechanisms, border management initiatives and operational preparedness measures implemented by the Assam Rifles.

Interacting with officers and troops, Lt Gen Kalia appreciated their dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to duty. He commended all ranks for their sustained efforts in maintaining security and stability in the region despite challenging operational conditions.
The GOC acknowledged the crucial role played by the Assam Rifles in safeguarding the border, countering security threats and ensuring peace in the Northeast. He encouraged the troops to continue maintaining the highest standards of vigilance, operational readiness and professionalism.

The visit reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment to strengthening border security, enhancing operational effectiveness and ensuring robust preparedness along the Indo-Myanmar Border. It also highlighted the significant contribution of troops deployed in forward areas towards maintaining peace and stability in Manipur and the wider northeastern region.
