The Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrated its 93rd anniversary with great pride and splendour at Hindon Air Force Station, honouring the valour and dedication of its air warriors who safeguard the nationโs skies.
This yearโs celebration carried a special tribute to Operation Sindoor, a landmark military operation that showcased the IAFโs precision, technological prowess, and strategic dominance.
The celebrations commenced with the ceremonial marching-in of the Presidentโs Colours, followed by an impressive aerial salute by Mi-17 IV helicopters in the โDhwajโ formation. Air Chief Marshal Singh lauded the IAFโs evolution into the fourth largest air force in the world and highlighted its decisive role in Operation Sindoor, reinforcing confidence in Indiaโs indigenous aerospace capabilities and technological innovation.
The event witnessed the presence of Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi. Air Chief Marshal AP Singh inspected the ceremonial parade and commended the air warriors for their professionalism and courage during Operation Sindoor.
In his Special Order of the Day, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh stated, โAs we commemorate this day, we pay tribute to the valour, dedication and unwavering spirit of the Indian Air Force in safeguarding our nationโs skies. Through Operation Sindoor, we reaffirmed the primacy of air power in shaping military outcomes.โ
The Air Force Day celebrations featured an impressive march past, a display of advanced aircraft, and a flypast showcasing Indiaโs cutting-edge aerial capabilities. Spectators witnessed the IAFโs operational readiness and its ability to deliver decisive results across multiple domains.
During the event, 97 medals across various categories and six Unit Citations were awarded to Air Warriors for their exemplary service. An Innovation Arena showcased the ingenuity of IAF personnel, while the thematic display โThe Year Gone Byโ highlighted key operational achievements and challenges faced over the past year. The Heritage Flight, featuring Tiger Moth, HT-2, and Harvard aircraft, provided a fitting tribute to the IAFโs rich legacy.
The IAFโs use of the Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS) for real-time coordination underscored Indiaโs growing dominance in network-centric warfare and reaffirmed its position as one of the most formidable air forces in the world.
As the IAF marks 93 glorious years since its inception on October 8, 1932, the celebration at Hindon stood as a tribute to its rich legacy and continued evolution as the guardian of Indiaโs skies.
