What Indian Armed Forces Expect from Young Officers. As soon as you open your mailbox, you find a mail regarding upcoming SSB. You get energized and after reading the mail, you start planning your trip to SSB center. From preparing shorts, shoes to booking a ticket, you prepare yourself to rock the SSB center. You start preparing for each and every activity, start improving your GK, get up early in the morning and start running to increase your physical fitness. But, have you ever thought that what Indian Armed Forces want from Young Officers. You might have heard of OLQ’s (Officer Like Qualities) which is preferred to be the criteria for your qualities. But on these qualities they judge you during SSB. They need an Officer with following traits:

  1. Never Back Down Attitude: A man with Never Back Down trait is always welcomed by the Armed Forces. Whether it be a war or any rescue operation, Indian Armed Forces will never leave a stone untouched. There is not any barrier for the soldiers. And this is all because of Never Back down characteristic. If there is not any problem which can let you down, if you never lose your patience and try again and again till success, then you are made to be an Armed Forces Officer.
  2. BraveHearted with Leadership Quality: As the soldiers of Indian Armed Forces are always known for their bravery, a blend of bravery and leadership is what is required by the Indian Armed Forces. They look for Young Aspirants who are brave enough to accept any challenge and can lead their team to complete that challenge on or before time. A good leader is always followed, but a brave leader is always praised and followed.
  3. Love to Motherland: It is always said that “Safety, honor and welfare of a country come first always and every time.” A soldier is made to protect his country in any of the adverse conditions. Whether it may be a battle to protect the country or an undercover task to wipe out the infiltration from the country, a soldier is always ready to face the difficulties. If you are the one who can’t listen to a single negative point against your motherland, if you are ready to die for your country, then you are required by the Armed Forces.
  4. SmartWork instead of Hard Work: This text is highly popular amongst youngsters nowadays. A smart work is performing any work in a smarter and effective way so that less hard work is required and expected success is obtained. In Indian Armed Forces too, a person who works day and night is not required. Instead of that, a youngster who works in a strategic manner and succeeds in his task before time is the need of the hour. If you also acquire such working quality, then Indian Armed Forces needs you.

Key Findings of Socio Economic Survey

Key-Findings-of-Socio-Economic-Survey

Key Findings of Socio Economic Survey. Socio Economic and Caste Census released the data of survey of rural areas of India. The data was released by Finance Minister Mr Arun Jaitly and Rural development minister Mr. Rao Birender Singh. The survey was commissioned by the government four years ago. It was done with reference to the data collected from 640 districts and 17.91 crore rural families. The socio economic caste census was conducted in 2011-12 but was extended till 2013 in some states due to the lengthy procedure.  The survey took place in two phases. Rural and Urban. The rural survey has been disclosed recently and urban data is yet to be announced.

The survey has some distinct statistics that every SSB aspirant must know to boost his points in Group Discussion, lecture and will surely leave a good impact on interviewing officer.Key-Findings-of-Socio-Economic-Survey

– Survey in rural areas has shown some eyebrow raising outcomes that shows the current status of India’s rural section. It shows that most of the rural population is engaged in unorganized jobs. Here are its facts and figures:

  • 49% of the rural population reported having signs of poverty.
  • 51% of rural families earn from manual labour.
  • Nearly 26% households have livelihood from cultivation.
  • Some 2.37 crore houses are either kuccha wall / roof or one room or less.
  • About 1/4th of the rural families have any literate adult of age 25 or above.
  • 1/3 rural families are landless.
  • About 21.5% rural families belong to SC/ST.
  • 2 out of every 10 house has a motorized vehicle.
  • 68% of rural families have mobile phones. A positive approach toward modernization.
  • 92% of rural families survive on less than 10k per month.
  • Only 4.58 % of household pat tax

The survey commented that the rural households of Haryana, Punjab, Tamilnadu, Kerala and Gujarat have shown good outcomes as compared to that of Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Bengal.

-Some sources accessed the stats of urban areas which are not disclosed by the government. The urban survey data is to be released later. The stats revealed some interesting data. The survey was recorded over 6.5 crore urban families and recorded the following stats.

  • 35 lakh urban families don’t have any income source.
  • Most interestingly about 90 lakh houses have women as the head of family.
  • 90% of urban families have electricity facility
  • Less than 10 % families don’t have source of drinking water in their home.
  • 40k households have a member as rag picker.

Stats speaks better then comments and assumptions. This survey has shown that how the Indian rural and urban areas are going in this era when India’s development is the top priority. Some counts gave some positive results, but some are yet to be improved. Survey of an urban area also showed some sections of disappointment. But implementation of schemes and plans and government’s full support to a common man can overcome the problems. Low access to digital services and income, infrastructure problem and several others are making the problem more intense. Engagement of 90% of rural in unsalaried works seems to be a major cause of decelerating rural development.

What are your views or suggestions to improve the rate of development of rural part of India?

Expectations from Modi’s Six Nation Visit

Expectations-from-Modis-Six-Nation-Visit

Expectations from Modi’s Six Nation Visit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream to make a prosperous and healthy nation with self-reliant and digitalized governance is on the full acceleration. All his foreign trips wrote new chapters in history.

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Uzbekistan for his five-nation visit to be concluded in eight days. The visit is planned to start from Uzbekistan then to Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Between the visits, Prime Minister will attend the BRICS summit and SCO summit (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) on 9-10 July.

Expectations:

From the previous visits of PM Narendra Modi to various countries, India is expecting more strong relations from central Asian countries which are an integral part of Asia. These countries can also be a part of India’s economic development.

  • BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, china, South Africa), will have the discussion to strength up the economic field and prominently decision on trade in local currency. With an introduction of New Development Bank, BRICS marked a new era of development among the member countries and also justified the composition of the group members.
  • In a positive step, the SCO summit that will be held in Ufa, Russia, India will become a permanent member of SCO, bringing India in the list with China, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
  • Uzbekistan, being the most popular central Asian country, want ties with India to reduce its dependency on China and Russia.
  • Kazakhstan the largest (in area) and wealthiest nation of central Asia, India already has space and nuclear ties with it. About half of the central Asian trade is with this country.
  • Turkmenistan was in news some years ago for the gas pipeline project called TAPI which means the route of the pipeline i.e. Turkmenistan Afghanistan Pakistan India. It is assumed that if the project got successfully constructed, then it will be India’s first land connection with central Asia.
  • Kyrgyzstan is the only central Asian nation to have a military exercise with India. Being the smallest nation on central Asia, it lies between Russia and china. Medical tourism and enhanced air flight system are expected from the Prime Minister’s visit.
  • Tajikistan is the closest nation of India. Sources say that it is the nation where India had a military hospital which was the only overseas hospital of the army. But circumstances and Russian interference led India to step back. Most of the foreign aid that India send to central Asia goes to Tajikistan. More strong ties are being expected from the visit.Expectations-from-Modis-Six-Nation-Visit

-Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first PM to visit Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan after 20 years. This series of visit will surely enhance the ties in various fields.

The earlier visits were fruitful in supporting the development and economic ties and have touched new level in recent years. Almost all continents have tasted the ties with India. PM Narendra Modi has cleared many awaited deals and some crucial ties and pacts that pumped resources into India. Rafale deal, Uranium deal and engaging MNCs in development were the best step to mark the development. Good relations with neighbors always brings positive reforms in the nation.

Should INSAS Be Replaced?

0
INSAS Modified

INSAS (Indian Small Arms System), designed by Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), have the qualities of an assault rifle and light machine gun which is currently manufactured at ordnance factory board. The gun can fire 600 rounds per minute.

Problems in INSAS

During Kargil war, the rifle was used at high altitude and army reported many problems. Jamming of the rifle, cracking of magazine, and sometimes the rifle goes in automatic mode when fired 3 rounds. Some cases of oil spraying from the gun in the gunner’s eyes were also seen. Even Nepalese army also complained problems in the rifle that they encountered while fight with Maoist. CRPF announced to drop INSAS as the standard rifle due to the frequent jamming rate as compare to AK-47. These shortcomings reduced its impression on Armed Forces. Army of some other nations that use this rifle feel it a bit low in performance.INSAS Modified

In 2013, trails of some shortlisted rifle were stared in Leh. The shortlisted were Beretta ARX 160 from Italy, CZ-805 BREN from the Czech Republic, ACE 1 of Israel Weapon Industries, SIG Sauer SG 551 from Switzerland and Colt Combat Rifle from the USA. Trichy Assault Rifle, similar to the AK-47 assault rifle is also under testing stage by the ordinance factory.
The problems emerging in INSAS are almost solved with its replacement with an indigenous rifle. The DRDO’s sharp brains have designed Excalibur assault rifle that have impressed Indian Army in its trails in Pune. Some feature of this rifle makes it better than INSAS and more efficient. The features are:

  • The rifle has a magazine of 5.56×45
  • Most importantly, it is fully automatic whereas INSAS can fire 3 rounds in a go, making it semi-automatic.
  • 4 mm short barrel then INSAS.
  • Picatinny rail for fixing sensors or sight weapons on the rifle.

Some improvements were suggested in the rifle like smaller hand guard and improved polycarbonate magazine. Sources alleged that if the trials got acceptance and production got flagged, then the rifle will be in Indian Army’s soldier’s hands in next 2 years. Well, this will definitely change the phase of the battle.
The second version of Excalibur, which is under designing can fire 7.62 mm bullet, same as that of AK-47. This version is expected to replace Russian-made assault rifle.Earlier in 2011, Army signed a deal worth Rs. 4848 crore, for multi caliber assault rifle having a feature of firing INSAS and AK-47 ammunition by just changing the barrel. But the deal was canceled on 15 June, this year.

The motive of indigenous production along with modernization is indicating a bright future of armed forces. Well, it is required indeed because of two reasons. Firstly improvement the current performance will enhance the fighting ability of our soldiers and secondly, making a distinct image on an international platform in the field of advanced weapon development. The pace of modernization is very fast and is expected to gain fame to India. The old rifles and weapons are on the verge of replacement and will decide the fate of the war.

Good News On One Rank One Pension Soon: Manohar Parrikar

0
OROP

Defence minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said that Army can expect ‘good news soon’ on the issue of one rank, one pension (OROP). In the city for cantonment board meeting, the minister said: “Our commitment to implement the OROP remains intact. I cleared the file as soon as it came to my notice.”

When TOI asked him whether the issue could be put before Parliament in the monsoon session starting July 21, the minister said that it was difficult to give a time frame, as many ministries and departments are involved in its implementation. OROP

“Since issues like OROP involve more than one ministry, there cannot be any time-frame for its implementation. I do not put myself in restrictive time-frame. It will be implemented soon, but how soon, I cannot tell. My department followed the time-frame despite difficulties,” he told TOI

Ex-servicemen have been protesting since June 14 to press for the implementation of OROP. At present, pension of retired army personnel is based on the pay commission recommendations at the time of their retirement. This leads to difference in pension for officers of the same rank who retire on different dates.

With OROP, those who retired earlier will draw the same pension as officers and jawans of the same rank who are retiring now. They would also be entitled to a year’s back pension at the new rate, which would be a windfall for pensioners.

The system will benefit 25 lakh ex-servicemen, and is expected to cost the government around Rs 8,500 crore.

How To Join RAW – Research and Analysis Wing 2023-2024

9
Research and Analysis Wing

R&AW or Research and Analysis Wing, of India is her primary foreign intelligence agency. Intelligence Bureau used to take care of the foreign intelligence too, along with the intelligence inside the country, until 1968, when the foundation of RAW was laid.

The primary reason fueling the formation of R&AW in 1968 was the gap in intelligence exposed in the 1962 and 1965 wars, which India fought. It was founded mainly to focus on China and Pakistan, R&AW claims to have taken part in several incidents like the 1971 war, India’s growing influence in Afghanistan, the accession of Sikkim, security of India’s nuclear program etc. Over time, RAW’s objectives have been broadened to include:

  • Monitoring the political and military developments in adjoining countries, which have direct bearing on India’s national security and in the formulation of its foreign policy.
  • Seeking the control and limitation of the supply of military hardware to Pakistan, mostly from European countries, the United States, and China.

Here we are going to tell the candidates how to join this prestigious institution. Though there is no concrete information available regarding the structure of R&AW, considering the level of secrecy and classified operations R&AW undertakes.

It can be said that R&AW started off as a very small organization with a few hundreds of employees, and now its family has grown to be in thousands.

How to join RAW

Research and Analysis Wing

Initially, R&AW had primarily trained intelligence officers who were recruited directly. These belonged to the external wing of the Intelligence Bureau. Then came a time when they needed to expand their family, at that time many candidates were taken from the military, police and the Indian Revenue Service. Later, R&AW began directly recruiting graduates from universities. However owing to allegations of nepotism in appointments, in 1983 R&AW created its own service cadre, the Research and Analysis Service (RAS) to absorb talent from other Group A Civil Services, under the Central Staffing Scheme.

Direct recruitment is made at Class I executive level from Civil services officers undergoing Foundation course at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. At the end of the course, R&AW conducts a campus interview. Based on a selection of psychological tests and the interview, candidates are inducted into RAW for a lien period of one year.

During this period, they have an option of rejoining their parent service (if they wish to) after which they can be permanently absorbed into the Research and Analysis Service. Delhi-based security think tank Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses noted in one of its reports that R&AW suffered from the ‘tail-end syndrome’ where the ‘bottom of the entrance lists’ of those qualifying the UPSC examinations were offered jobs.

Additionally, recruitment is also by lateral deputation from the Officer corps of Armed Forces or Group A Civil Service Officers. The Civil and Defence Service Officers permanently resign their cadre and join the RAS. However, according to recent reports, officers can return to their parent cadre after serving a specific period in the agency if they wish to. Most of the secretaries have been officers from the IPS and other posts are held by IRS and IFS officers.

R&AW also employs a number of linguists and other experts in various fields. The service conditions of RAW officers are governed by the Research and Analysis Wing (Recruitment, Cadre and Service) Rules, 1975.
