A Synopsis of History and Current Greek Crisis

A-Synopsis-of-History-and-Current-Greek-Crisis

Greece, a European state is still making space in newspapers for the financial crisis that emerged as a long coming problem for Eurozone. The country was refused to join the Eurozone after euro came into force in 1999. High inflation rate and high debt were the reasons. But later, Greece was allowed to join the group. Then, what happened later that led to this crisis? Well here is the reason of the crisis with the current status of the crisis

What Led to the Crisis?

The debt crisis started from imploding of Wall Street in 2008. The situation got more sever in 2010,when Greece was shut out of borrowing from financial market leading to a situation of bankruptcy, which is seen as a financial crisis. This lead IMF, European commission and European central bank to issue bailout to Greece totaling 240 million euros. This in turn imposed high tax, budget cut and tough austerity terms. The organization also want Greece to change the economy a bit, ending tax evasion and making business easier in Greece. The condition went more grief with unemployment going above 25% and shrunk the economy by one fourth in five years. The bailout money was mainly used to pay international loans instead of gearing up the economy. Even the loan was not entirely paid from that money. Austerity was called the reason behind it. Mr. Tsipras stated that austerity terms have created humanitarian crisis in the country. Whereas other nations like Germany blamed Greece for not overhauling the economy mentioned in the agreement.

Greece’s Effect on Eurozone

After the sever conditions started prevailing, its effect was thought to be seen on rest of the world. It is assumed that if Greece exited the Eurozone following default on its debt, a global financial crisis will appear. This lead to the birth of the term “Grexit”. Europe prepared itself from the spreading of financial shock by safeguarding itself. If Greece has to left the Eurozone then it would have to face struggle and Europe will get rid of a member who need neighbor’s support.A-Synopsis-of-History-and-Current-Greek-Crisis

The crisis resulted in selling of shares and other holdings in Greece. Other European countries in Eurozone like Spain, Ireland and Portugal started taking crucial steps for overhauling their economies in order to avoid speeding of financial crisis.

Recent Steps to Neutralize the Effect

On 13th July, an agreement was signed between Greece and European creditors to resolve Greece’s debt crisis and keep its position in Eurozone. The banks in Greece have opened again after closure for 3 weeks. The reopening gave relief to the common people waiting to withdraw money from ATMs. The step is expected to boost the economy. Greece repaid 2 billion euros to IMF and 4.2 billion bond payment to European central bank. This money came from 7.16 billion euros bridge loan that European Union had approved. This repayment has made it eligible for further fund assistance from IMF.

The current situations have given some relief to the people and if it goes as per plan then, the debt crisis will surly end. The effect was expected to spread to other nations also but timely actions stabilized the condition.

Army Plans To Give The Boot To Canvas Shoes For Jawans

Army plans to give the boot to canvas shoes for jawans

Army plans to give the boot to canvas shoes for jawans. The thin, brown canvas PT shoes used by Indian Army soldiers could soon make way for sports shoes. After an earlier attempt to replace the World War II vintage canvas shoe failed to take off a couple of years ago, the Army now plans to go for an existing sports shoe manufactured by a multinational brand. The Army had previously asked shoe manufacturers to design a completely new sports shoe for soldiers. Different shoes are being evaluated by certain units and the Army is hopeful of signing a contract soon.

The canvas PT shoe has not seen any improvement in quality since it entered the service. “Today’s jawans don’t like to wear those shoes. They are paid good salaries and wear smart sneakers when they are in civil dress. In fact, we give our unit’s basketball and cross-country teams branded sports shoes from our own regimental funds,” a Colonel commanding an infantry battalion told The Indian Express. A senior military official said the Army’s top brass realises that “we need to manage the perception of our jawans better, in tune with changing times”. “Providing better quality uniform, proper shoes and functional equipment is our topmost priority. The present defence minister is equally committed to the cause,” the official said. The Army currently procures around 20 lakh canvas shoes every year from the Ordnance Factories Board (OFB). The OFB no longer manufactures canvas shoes itself, but buys them from civilian suppliers to provide to the Army. Each soldier is issued one pair of shoes every six months free of cost by the Army, along with other items of uniform, as part of the ‘life-cycle clothing’ arrangement. The new sports shoes, once introduced, would have a much longer life-cycle than the canvas shoes — perhaps around 12-15 months, sources said. A few years ago, the Army had carried out a study at the Indian Military Academy to design three different shoes for cadets during training — a drill boot, a sports shoe and a running shoe. The study had shown that running or PT shoes need to have a different structure and cannot double as shoes for playing games such as basketball or hockey. “Physical training-induced injuries are mainly overuse injuries, whereas injuries incurred during playing a field sport are acute in nature. The aim of a good running or PT shoe is to prevent and reduce stress-related injuries caused by overuse. Technical parameters — like vertical ground reaction force peak impact, ground reaction force loading rate and peak tibial acceleration — will need to be considered while selecting a good shoe,” a sports medicine qualified Army doctor, who was involved in the study, said.Army plans to give the boot to canvas shoes for jawans

was scuttled when animal rights activist and the then BJP MP Maneka Gandhi objected to the use of cow leather in sneakers being bought by the Army. The Army had started the process of selecting new-generation sports shoes to replace the basic brown canvas PT shoes in July 2008. Based on user trials of about a dozen shoes, it had recommended two options. Both shoes used cow leather.

The Army had said it chose cow leather instead of synthetic leather or other items because “cow leather was unanimously approved as the most appropriate material, being most versatile and tough to withstand anticipated usage by soldiers”.

Following Maneka’s objection, the then defence minister A K Anthony cancelled the procurement order in 2011. The next attempt to procure shoes in 2012 also failed to see the light of day.

Because of the personal interest taken by the defence minister this time, the Army is hopeful of overcoming the “usual price and specification issues” likely to be raised by the Defence Ministry during procurement.

What Are Assessors Looking At SSB? – Part 1

0
ssb interview

What Are Assessors Looking At SSB? There had been increasing interest in youth for our forces. This increasing enthusiasm makes me happy and sad also somewhere. Happy because I can see my youth directed towards serving of the nation but I feel sad when I see the rejection rate though our forces need a lot of officers as of now and there is a dearth. The assessors have hard time in rejecting people because they do not match the standards. If someone would say that to be an officers the standards are very high I would reject that statement because they just look for 15 OLQ’s in a person who can become officer. Having these 15 OLQ’s is also not a big deal because everyone has it. The difference is that certain people identify them while certain do not because of the lack of guidance.

Some people consider SSB as a free trip or a picnic where they would be paid for the trip while some have overheard the strict evaluation at SSB and they get rejected because of the fear. Only some serious aspirants reach there and get recommended. That’s why the rejection rates are that high. So the next question would be that if only 15 OLQ’s are needed and everyone has it why everyone can’t be selected. For that right preparation and proper workout is needed prior to SSB. Right preparation started way before the SSB call can bear fruits. Now I have already published the qualities they look for in my other article so please refer then for details. Here I would focus as to what assessors look for in SSB. The process of assessing at SSB is really holistic where everyone is looking for perfection. These qualities are developed as:

  • Way of thinking
  • Positive approach
  • Family background
  • Social circle and people that surround you
  • Educational background

Now certain points are in our control while certain other points and factors are out of our control. The factors which are not in our control cannot be changed and they decide the majority of the qualities that one builds up in time. The remaining are in our hand so they should be shaped properly. When we know that our dream is so important to us and it can be achieved easily its foolishness not to work towards it in the right way. Since we all have qualities and we just need to identify the degree in which they are present, the task becomes easier.ssb interview

Now we all know that the assessors are looking for OLQ’s along with body language, confidence, voice, tone modification etc. so let’s gear up and work on every aspect. In the second part of this series I would discuss how to develop 15 OLQ’s in us. Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for OLQ’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. Keep reading our blog to see how one can understand his or her personality in the better way. Your dream is really easy but you need the right direction to follow the right path.
