Pakistan says it shot down Indian drone, Army and IAF say not ours

The Pakistan army said Wednesday it had shot down an Indian “spy” drone which it alleged was being used for aerial photography near the Line of Control (LoC), a claim dismissed by India. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), in a brief statement, said the Indian drone was brought down near the LoC in Bhimber area of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). The army claimed that the drone was being used for aerial photography and was “brought down for violation of Pakistan’s territorial integrity”.

But the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force denied that any of their drones had crashed or had been shot down. A spokesperson of the Indian Army said: “Some reports of a drone crash in PoK are being referred to. No drone or UAV crash of the Indian Army has taken place.” An IAF spokesperson also denied that any of their drone had been brought down. (ENS adds: It is learnt that Pakistan plans to summon the Indian high commissioner in Islamabad on Thursday to lodge a protest.) The alleged shooting down of the drone came nearly a week after the ice-breaking meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in Ufa, Russia. The incident comes in the backdrop of a ceasefire violation Wednesday by Pakistan. PTI

Indian Army Orders for over 2,000 Units of Maruti Gypsy

Maruti-Suzuki-Gypsy- Indian-Army

Showing its love for the homegrown Indian machine, the Indian Army has recently placed an order for 2017 Maruti Gypsy for its fleet. While it’s been long time since the Maruti Suzuki has stopped manufacturing the iconic jeep for commercial market, the vehicle is still in huge demand for defence fleets.

The Maruti Gypsy was first launched in India in 1985. The popular utility vehicle came with a petrol powered engine later started to lose its charm with the entry of the more feature rich diesel powered SUVs. But is not the case for the Indian Army, which still has a deep love and trust for the popular SUV. Getting its first order in 1991, Maruti has delivered in excess of 35,000 Gypsy SUVs to the Army since then. Last year, the Indian car major got its single largest order from the Indian Army for over 4000 units of the same vehicle. In the last decade or so, the GS 500 category is dominated by the Gypsy and the vehicle is not likely to get phased out as of yet.Maruti-Suzuki-Gypsy- Indian-Army

The Indian Army is known to have ordered 3200 vehicles of the Mahindra Scorpio and Tata Safari to replace its old fleet of SUVs. But they just don’t seem like parting with the age old favourite Maruti Gypsy. Apparently the order for these Maruti Gypsy was placed by the Indian Army few weeks ago and reports claim that the company will start the deliveries by next month. Currently Maruti sells the Gypsy at INR 6 lakh, which brings the total order value for Maruti Suzuki at INR 125 crore.

Coming to the iconic machine itself, the Maruti Gypsy is powered by a 1.3-litre MPFI Gasoline Engine the churns out 81 PS of max power and 103 Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to all the four wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.

4 Personality Development Tips For Success At SSB

4 Personality Development Tips For Success At SSB

4 Personality Development Tips For Success At SSB. Serving the motherland is the dream of many but only few are lucky enough to achieve that and fulfil it. This does not mean that only few individuals have the OLQ’s and the capability to succeed or the selection process is quite tough but it means that few work in right direction and under right guidance while other few are obstructed  by wrong guidance and path that they follow. There are also many myths that prevail in the place and it can mislead many. SSB is a different category of assessment where things are psychologically assessed and personality and potential of an officer is looked at. Many aspirants have their upcoming SSB and have asked me to share tips on these lines so this article is dedicated to all their requests.

Developing personality is not easy as it is shaped by many factors like:

  • Way one is brought up
  • Educational qualifications and studies done
  • Family background and social status
  • Way of thinking and living and the people one is surrounded with

Definitely this list is not exhaustive and can increase and also be assured that controlling such factors is not in our hands earlier but now you have full control and should work as below to achieve your goal for the development of personality and thus achieving success :

  • Live life with positivity: Life is very small and hence every second of it should be spent wisely. It should not be the case that one is wasting life. Positive thinking even at difficult situations can help in coming out and this approach changes the way one looks and live the life. Thus it helps in improving your psychological responses.4 Personality Development Tips For Success At SSB
  • Controlled body language: body language is the reflection of ones personality before anyone can speak up things. It always help individual to perform better at places. It also tells many traits and thus assessors make it important tool to assess at SSB to know about one’s personality.
  • Self-introspection of self: This is a technique where one assess himself or herself w.r.t OLQ’s by studying life events. In times to come it will be the only key to success at SSB. Many a times aspirants have complaint to me by dropping personal mail that everyone says do introspection while guiding us but no one has done it for us and made our profiles while teaching or guiding in large groups. Suggestion for such people is that always look for individual guidance so that personality could be properly assessed and there is full time dedication for self.
  • Learning from failures: There is so much to do in today’s era that even if one failure comes one should pick up the learning and perform in the next go. There might be many dreams that will be fulfilled while others may not but one should move ahead with constant pace.

Hope this helps in preparation and achieving success. Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for OLQ’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. You will receive the repose personally. If there are things bothering you and you think I can be of help please share. SSB is the easiest exam if the right path is followed as it’s the path of just knowing yourself.

How To Perform Well In CDS SSB?

How To Perform Well In CDS SSB

CDS is a special entry for all the three forces where the entry to the aspirants is provided based on a written exam that is conducted by the UPSC. All those who clear this exam are called for the SSB and allocated service based on their choices. This exam can be given by the non-technical cadre also and those of the aspirants who are in technical cadre but are not getting calls due to low percentage can opt for this entry. Another advantage of this entry is that the aspirants that get shortlisted for SSB are less in number as compared to the direct entries where the aspirants attending SSB are two to three times the aspirants called here. This can be a big relief for many.

The written is conducted twice a year and those aspirants who have cleared the written this time would be looking for the tips. So here they are:

  • Please remember that at SSB you are only assessed for the OLQ’s so keep them in mind and prepare accordingly. There can be a lot that can be done but we should not lose the focus and prepare sincerely towards the goal with dedication.
  • Take things positively at SSB and do not go with pre conceived notions. Every start should be a fresh start.
  • Introspect deeply before appearing for SSB as that can only save one from getting a know how about yourself and performing to the fullest there.
  • Remember not to fool anyone and prepare sincerely for your dream.
  • Never believe in myths that you hear from various resources as that can bother you thus degrading your performance.
  • If you are looking for the preparation, always see a place where you would be individually guided as SSB is all about individual personality and if taught in large chunks one can miss on important aspects. Also at such places individualistic personality is lost.
  • Get ready with your profiles so that you know what you have and what needs to be improved on. Once this is done then the practice set can be taken and things will definitely move in right direction.
  • Practice for various rounds should only be done once you know your real self.
  • Follow proper schedules and time tables and start preparing early rather than waiting for the last moments. How To Perform Well In CDS SSB

Please remember that at SSB things are psychologically judged so even if a high grade of English is used it might not lead to selection if things are not matching your personality or does not reflect your true self, so preparation in proper order should be done. Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for OLQ’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. Proper introspection is the only key for success as that can help revealing your true self and thus enabling you to perform better. SSB is nothing but revealing you fully and that is an easiest job for the individual. Keep reading more for other important tips and solutions.

Repeater Special – Preparation Tips For SSB

0
Repeater in ssb

All the aspirants must be aware who are called the repeater in SSB. People who do not get recommended are termed with this nomenclature and they are formed a part of separate group in next visit so that they can compete with the people with similar experience. Fresher’s or the person attending the SSB first time participates in a different group where they compete with the similar people. This classification is just done to provide a fair chance to every individual. The competition at SSB is really tough as one need to figure out the real self through introspection and then replicate the same at SSB. Many repeaters have been asking me personally that what special preparation they need to do for getting selected at SSB.

The answer is simple: no special preparation and no special treatment is given to anyone at SSB. All are evaluated equally against the 15 OLQ’s and that’s it. So one should never feel low if he or she could not make for his dream in this go. There is always a next time but one should rather repent for the mistakes that one made in the course of SSB should bang the jackpot perfectly the next time. The repeaters must follow the following way of preparation for success:

  1. Realise the mistakes and never repeat them: One should always learn from the mistakes and should try not to replicate and learn what went wrong rather than thinking in other terms.
  2. After the learning has been done from the mistakes one should do self-introspection which involves studying of life events with respect to OLQ’s and thus gaining what needs to be prepare more. This can be done through self and if anyone needs guidance they can take mentorship from me where personally the problem areas are studied and few psychology tests are conducted to form the profile and guide in this regard.Repeater in ssb
  3. After the introspection one should deeply work with the flaws found and then the improvement starts. That’s why I always say that SSB preparation needs time and should be started well before time and not at the last moment. I also don’t understand how aspirants can be taught in large groups for this personality related aspects in few weeks and get them prepared. If one is looking for guidance always pay heeds towards individual assessment.
  4. Then comes the practice of the various rounds and seeing whether things are matching with your real self. Whether they are the things you write in psychology or perform at ground or speak to the interviewer, all should perfectly match.
  5. If this routine is followed diligently with perfect guidance success will never be a problem for the individual.

This is just the basic outline for the individual to be followed diligently. Also I have written article earlier where the sample stories, WAT and SRT have been published. Just go through them once and see how things are easy which look complex because one believes in the myths. Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for olq’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. Believe me there is no distinction between fresher and repeater and all are neutrally evaluated. If you have the right degree of OLQ’s no one can stop you from getting recommended. Work for your goal and serve the motherland.

‘Pakistan can never defeat India’ – as long as the Sikhs fight for India

0
sikh-regiment

The Sikhs, the ferocious Sikhs that behaved like hungry lions on the field were like benevolent guardians in the camps. They slept hungry themselves but gave their food to the prisoners.

“Pakistan can never defeat India”, the Italian remarked.

That morning in May 1999, on an official trip to Italy, as I had switched on the BBC World News, I had heard the announcement that Indian Air Force had started an offensive on the Kargil peaks and there were fears of a full-fledged war with Pakistan. What had till now been known as a minor incursion by infiltrators was now threatening to engulf the two nations into a suicidal war. My friend and I had begun our usual tour of the fair; visiting booths of major companies.

I vividly remember that stall, and the company owner sitting stylishly having a chat with his clients. These Italians sure are one stylish lot. Brown shoes and a red golf cap. I still have’nt got over my bias for brown shoes acquired during those trips to Italy.

As we got on with our promotional lecture the conversation veered off to the Kargil news.

“Pakistan can never defeat India”, he suddenly remarked.

“Oh yes”, we said, “Of Course, we have a bigger army”, we said proudly.

“Oh No!, you got it wrong”, said the Italian

“Is that so? How?”

“You know about Sikhs?”, he asked.

“Of course”, I said, “I am a Sikh”

“Oh, are you?”, he remarked with a surprise, as he suddenly got up from his seat, took off his red cap, “Salute’”, he said in his strong Italian accent; even as he asked me as to why I was not wearing the Sikh turban. I grinned sheepishly in response.

“Hats off, my Sikh friend; you don’t know why Pakistan can never defeat India? It cannot defeat India as long as the Sikhs fight for India.”

We were surprised by his reaction. And we asked him as to how he knew about Sikhs and tried to find out the story behind his view.

And then he started speaking animatedly. “My Grandpapa was in Mussolini’s army in World War-II. And he used to tell me a story. He told me that they were winning the war as they moved into Eastern Africa. They won many battles against the British. And then the British brought a regiment of fierce looking warriors. Men that looked like ferocious animals when in battle, the Sikhs. Their war-cry was so frightening that the Italian army used to shiver when it sounded. They attacked with their artillery; when they finished their artillery fire they attacked with their guns; when they finished their bullets they fought with bayonets; and when their bayonets were snatched they fought with knives; and then even as they were bleeding they fought with bare hands.”sikh-regiment

I could see the Italian getting more and more excited as he recited the story. He was moving his hands around in the air and acting the part. “My Grandpa used to say that it was the Sikhs that turned the war around. They routed their enemy wherever they went.

“Finally, my Grandpa was captured by the Sikh regiment”, he said. “He was a Prisoner of War, with limited canteen. Even water was scarce. The Sikhs, the ferocious Sikhs that behaved like hungry lions on the field were like benevolent guardians in the camps. They slept hungry themselves but gave their food to the prisoners. They gave them so much respect and love that my Grandpapa used to say that he had never seen men like the Sikhs. So gallant in war and so gracious in victory.”

“As I grew up, my grandpapa inspired me with stories of Sikhs and asked me to meet some Sikhs if I wanted to be a man. So I went to meet Sikhs in India. I roamed in the Punjab, went to the temples and met many.”

“But, I wanted to see the Sikh Army in Action. So I went to your parade, that big parade in New Delhi, where all regiments of the Indian army march in glory. The parade was magnificient, the Indian army marching proudly, regiment after regiment.” he remarked as he took a book in his hand and moved it smoothly across the table in one straight line he said “this is how smoothly each regiment moved, like one unit”

“And then in the distance, I saw the Sikhs”, he said, as he started moving the book across the table. “Boom” he shouted as I saw the book go up an inch, “Boom”, as it went down, even as it moved across in one straight line and he did the entire stretch of the table. “This is how the Sikhs marched, boom, boom, moving like a storm across the road, so disciplined moving like one unit, yet looking so gallant and brave. I have seen the Germans marching, I have seen the march-past of the Russians, but I have never seen an army marching the way the Sikhs do.” He continued for a few more minutes with anecdotes of his grandpa’s and his interaction with Sikhs, as he hammered in the fact that Sikhs were the best fighting force in the world.

“So, my friend, you see. Pakistan can never defeat India, as long as the Sikhs fight for India.”

Postscript:

This incident has stayed with me for over fifteen years now, and I recount it today not in bravado as a fellow Sikh, but as something that needed to be told as an indicator of the impact Sikhs have on people, both in their bravery and in their graciousness; and as a reminder to us Indians.

Sikhs make up 10% of all ranks in the Indian Army, though Sikhs form only 2% of the Indian population.

After 1984, there was an experiment by Gen Vaidya to do away exclusivity, with a company each of Dogras, Garhwalis and South Indians in the Sikh Regiment. The exclusivity was however later restored.

I read an article today from the ‘Telegraph’ of UK that the Britishers were planning to create a ‘Sikh Regiment’ in the British Army.

Perhaps the Britishers know something we Indians seem to be forgetting.

Clearing Seven Myths Of SSB Interview

0
AFSB centre

Aspirants worry a lot about what they hear from different sources, their friends and other online resources where everyone says different things about the process of SSB. One need to understand that whatever you hear about SSB Interview is not always the truth. Different resources have different opinions and hence it would be intelligent to clear few myths. Spending five days in that environment which shows you a bit of the lifestyle of an officer gives you energy that this is the life that a real aspirant wants. Let’s see what are the myths and the realities:

1. You are under observation 24*7 for five days

This is true that you each and every move is studied there by expert officers. But you can relax when you are there in your dorms or while in the mess, but remember an officer must not forget to follow the rules when he is not under observation. So just follow the rules of the place completely.

2. You cannot be in touch with your family

This might be right that your mobiles are submitted in some centres because some centres are official workplaces of the defence people too. But the telephone facility is provided through STD booth and you can call whenever you are free within calling times.

3. Facilities are not good at the centre

All the attendees of SSB Interview are provided with the living accommodation, food facilities which might not be world class but yes you only tell me which selection test provides all the aspirants with these facilities. The food quality is good and you are provided with dorms where you share room with other aspirants. Each one is provided with bedding, almirah also.

4. If you spend more time in conference your selection is sure

This is not true. Time might be taken to discuss various parameters on the candidate and it is nowhere related to the final result. I would only suggest giving your best in every round which will automatically fetch good results. AFSB centre

5. If GTO gives a tough individual task you are high in his eyes

This is partially right but the GTO assesses individual for overall performance as all the rounds are designed to assess full personality of the person. Any single round if accompanied with a good performance might not lead to your recommendation.

6. You should attend all questions in Psychology

Psychology rounds have many subparts and it is a perfect time bound test, so according to me you should try to do all but if not possible to attempt all then give your best shot in whatever you attempt. You will be judged by how you attempt. You will be judged by the quality and not by the quantity. So try accordingly.

7. You can speak whatever you want in Interview if you are smart

Believe me whosoever is judging you are far smarter than you and they will catch you like anything. So be yourself as the same set of question or qualities would be judged by different assessors though different questions and if caught at one place you will be thrown out.

Other myths which make aspirants confuse a bit can be clarified with me. Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for olq’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. It would be a pleasure to help and resolve queries and clear doubts which are more often myths that are present in the mind and that can severely degrade the performance. So just follow the set of norms, be yourself and get selected. It is this simple only.

Use Of Language At SSB

0
ssb interview language to be used

There is always confusion among the aspirants that what should be the appropriate use of language at the SSB centre. Though it is usually told in instructions that one should use restrict the use to only Hindi and English and other languages should not be used. Also if one is using Hindi as an optional language then one should try to restore and come back to English. This is a general set of instructions given to the aspirant’s before any round and one should strictly follow that. At SSB we all know that there are certain rounds in which a discussion needs to be initiated and hence it would need involvement of all the members of the group.

SSB is a place where people from different places participate and they usually cover the entire country, whichever centre you visit for SSB. English being the common language which is understood by all is promoted and hence should be used. Now few aspirants write to me saying that they are weak in English and they become nervous while speaking in English so can Hindi be used. As told earlier, yes definitely it can be used, but in restricted mode only. This rule is made considering the benefit of all so it should be followed as everyone might not understand Hindi and hence it would disturb the environment of the discussion which would thus not facilitate the discussion and might not serve the purpose.ssb interview language to be used

For those aspirants who feel they are not good at it should not feel low. Let me tell you that speaking skills are not a barrier in the selection and if you have OLQ’s and reveal them appropriately no one can stop you from getting selected, so give it a shot. Few people complain that their background is such that they come from Hindi medium and hence never got chance to get an environment of English, so friends don’t worry for that. This information is captured through PIQ form and it would be kept in mind without getting the results affected , so that’s why I say that aspirants should practice hard and work on psychology and personality rather than worrying about the issues which were never in their hand. Although this is considerate but one should always work on the communication as it might help in general also if SSB is left apart.

Body language in SSB is very important and I would deal it in a separate article as it creates a long lasting impression and needs a proper workout. Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for olq’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. Clear the communication barriers and get towards the success journey. Success can only be achieved with hard work and it will definitely be yours.
