In a solemn ceremony on Friday, Lieutenant General P. K. Mishra, General Officer Commanding of the White Knight Corps, paid glowing tributes to Agniveer Jimmy Ngamminlun Mate, who laid down his life during a daring rescue mission near Jammu amid devastating floods and landslides.
Mate, deployed in an anti-flood evacuation operation on the city’s outskirts, made the supreme sacrifice while saving lives as relentless rains battered the region. The Jammu division has witnessed its heaviest rainfall since 1910, leading to widespread flooding and a deadly landslide at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, which claimed 34 lives, including pilgrims.
The White Knight Corps, in a heartfelt message on X, expressed deep solidarity with Mate’s family, hailing his bravery and dedication. “His sacrifice in the line of duty will forever inspire future generations of soldiers,” the Corps stated.The tragic incident underscores the Indian Army’s unwavering role in humanitarian and disaster relief operations, even in the face of extreme natural calamities.
