The College of Defence Management (CDM) in Secunderabad successfully concluded a week-long Management Development Program (MDP) on Organizational Behaviour today, marking a significant step in enhancing leadership capabilities within the Indian Armed Forces. Held from September 8 to 13, 2025, the intensive program trained 22 mid-level officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, focusing on critical skills such as self-awareness, resilience, decision-making, effective communication, and team collaboration.
The program, conducted under the aegis of the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, emphasized preparing officers for future leadership roles in dynamic operational environments. Drawing inspiration from global military training methodologies, including a 1998 study by the National Academies Press on military simulations, the MDP incorporated adaptive leadership strategies to address complex challenges. The curriculum aimed to optimize individual and team performance while fostering a culture of adaptability and excellence across the tri-service framework.
A highlight of the event was the valedictory ceremony, which showcased rare collaboration among the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Senior officers presented certificates to participants, symbolizing the programโs success in bridging inter-service gaps. The ceremony also featured a group photograph of the participants against the backdrop of CDMโs prestigious campus, reflecting the institutionโs role as Asiaโs only exclusive college for defence management training.
This initiative aligns with the Indian Armed Forcesโ recent โน99.7 billion (US$1.2 billion) investment in a dedicated and secure optical fibre cable network, one of the worldโs largest closed user group networks, underscoring a strategic push toward technology-enhanced leadership. The CDM, accredited with an NAAC A+ rating and affiliated with Osmania University, continues to shape over 500 officers annually, reinforcing its legacy as a cornerstone of professional military education in India.
