The Indian Armyโs Central Command spotlighted soldier-driven innovations as Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, reviewed cutting-edge solutions developed by troops of the Golden Key Division. The initiative reflects the Armyโs push toward operational self-reliance and technological transformation.
During the visit, Lt Gen Sengupta โ a decorated officer with extensive experience in UN peacekeeping missions and counter-insurgency operations, including leading an infantry brigade in the Democratic Republic of Congo under the MONUSCO mandate โ praised the ingenuity and adaptability of soldiers. Covering a vast 3.1 million square kilometers, Central Command is playing a pivotal role in merging combat readiness with indigenous technology.
The review showcased advancements such as next-generation communication systems and drone platforms, developed in line with the Futuristic Infantry Soldier As a System (F-INSAS) program. The initiative seeks to modernize the Armyโs 1.2 million active personnel by enhancing lethality, situational awareness, and mobility through homegrown solutions.
The inspection came days after VEM Technologies delivered a critical Tejas Mk1A fuselage component on September 4, a milestone in Indiaโs โMake in Indiaโ defense push. Recent delays in General Electricโs F-404 engine supplies for the LCA program have underscored the urgency of domestic innovation in defense manufacturing.
The Golden Key Division, historically renowned for its role in blunting Pakistanโs advances during the 1965 Indo-Pak war, is now positioning itself at the forefront of operational transformation. Soldier-led innovations not only boost battlefield preparedness but also strengthen Indiaโs strategic autonomy.
