The Indian Army participated in the Technex’26 Defence Symposium 2.0 at IIT (BHU), Varanasi, organised under the aegis of Surya Command, engaging with students, researchers and innovators to discuss the future of defence technology and military-civil collaboration.
The event focused on strengthening military-civil fusion and encouraging innovation to address emerging security challenges.

Address by Maj Gen Amit Singh Sohal
During the symposium, Major General Amit Singh Sohal, General Officer Commanding Purva UP & MP Sub Area, addressed the gathering and highlighted the Indian Army’s vision for technology-driven transformation.
He spoke about the Army’s focus under the Decade of Transformation and Year of Networking and Data Centricity 2026, emphasising the growing role of emerging technologies such as drones, artificial intelligence, cyber capabilities and autonomous systems in shaping the future battlefield.
Promoting Indigenous Defence Innovation
The symposium also reinforced the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, encouraging collaboration between the Indian Army, academia, startups and innovators to develop indigenous defence technologies.
Participants were introduced to initiatives such as the Army Design Bureau and the Compendium of Problem Statements, which aim to invite innovative solutions from academia and industry for national security challenges.

Display of Advanced Military Equipment
An equipment display by the Indian Army showcased a range of modern battlefield systems, including nano, micro and large drones, weapons, communication radio sets, night vision devices, warfare vehicles, robotic mules and artillery systems.
The display provided students with a closer look at evolving military technologies and operational requirements, fostering interest in defence innovation and research.
The event highlighted the Indian Army’s commitment to building a strong ecosystem of defence innovation through collaboration with academic institutions and technology startups.
