Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, visited the general area of Gambhir Mughlan to carry out an operational review and situational assessment of Operation Sheruwali. The visit underlined the Indian Army’s continued focus on maintaining operational pressure, strengthening coordination among security agencies, and ensuring mission-oriented execution in a challenging security environment.
During the visit, the Army Commander was briefed on the evolving operational dynamics in the area and reviewed the progress of ongoing actions under Operation Sheruwali. The assessment focused on ground-level developments, operational preparedness, coordination mechanisms, and the overall security situation in the region.
Lt Gen Pratik Sharma interacted with representatives of local Indian Army formations, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Intelligence Bureau, Central Reserve Police Force and other stakeholders involved in the operation. The discussions centred on enhancing inter-agency synergy, improving real-time coordination, and ensuring a unified approach towards the successful conduct of the mission.
The Army Commander’s engagement with multiple agencies reflected the importance of jointness in counter-terror and internal security operations, especially in sensitive areas where close coordination between the Army, police, intelligence agencies and paramilitary forces remains critical. Such operational reviews help refine the response mechanism and ensure that all stakeholders remain aligned with the mission’s objectives.

Lt Gen Pratik Sharma also interacted with troops deployed in the area and appreciated their professionalism, resilience and unwavering commitment. He commended the soldiers for maintaining high morale while operating in a demanding environment and praised their relentless resolve in pursuing the assigned operational objectives.
Addressing the personnel, the Army Commander emphasised the need for mission focus, operational excellence and professional acumen. He exhorted all teams to continue working with precision, discipline and a shared sense of purpose while adapting to the evolving security situation on the ground.
