Cracked SSB Interview In 2nd Attempt - AIR 7

Heartfelt gratitude to Millions of Defense Aspirants, grown up in different atmospheres, living in the different parts of the country but having only one dream, “Indian Army”.

Introduction: – Where to start from? I’ve a lot to share. I’m Shashwat Awasthi, born and grown up in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. I belong to a middle-class family. My family background is NOT of Army. Perhaps I’ll be the first army officer of my family. My first 5 years of schooling was done in Hindi Medium. Then I switched to English Medium but remained in State Board up to High School. I completed my 12th from CBSE.

I dropped a year for the preparation of Army and JEE after 12th. I got conference out in my first SSB of Indian Navy. But I was more enthusiastic and full of zeal after that experience. I always believed in myself. There is a basic funda in my life that Listen and admire everybody but follow only my inner voice.

I started taking part in debates and speeches from Class 6th onwards.

From Hindi speeches to English Speeches, from debates to MUNs, I participated in almost every extracurricular activity. And I love Football, not Cricket though. The most important thing that I’ve observed about myself is that I’m a versatile guy, one who keeps balance between studies and extracurricular activities.

I’m always interested in International and National Politics. So, I read a lot of articles from different newspapers of different countries. I admire different cultures of different countries. That has always fascinated me. It is truly said that, “There is divine beauty in learning. To learn means to accept the postulate that life did not begin at my birth. Others have been here before me, and I walk in their footsteps.”

I scored 1st position in Class 10th in my school. I was also School Captain in class 10th. So, I tried to develop every skill I could.

It wasn’t always that good, I’ve seen many failures. And I’m glad that my mother always supported in every failure. She motivated me to try harder. I’ve seen my parents struggling to fulfill our needs. And that fueled me. And I owe my success to my parents.

My story may be little bit long but I’m sure that you’ll benefited from my experience. You all are well aware of present SSB process so my story focuses more on my personal experience of SSB interview. I did not take any coaching. (Yes, No Delhi-No Chandigarh)

(I got recommended from 18 SSB Allahabad for TES entry. I am merit in with AIR 7. I’m medically fit.)

1). Screening: – I practiced verbal and non-verbal tests. So, I did not feel any difficulty in that portion of test. I prepared a story revolving around my central character. Mood was positive. My narration was fantastic. My voice was clear and loud. I grabbed everybody’s attention. Discussion was Machali-Bazar (Fish Market) as always. I put my logical points. I was anyhow able to pursue group members to have a common story. 22 (including me) were screened in out of 300.

My suggestions: – Buy any SSB book. (Be smart enough to judge). Practice verbal and non-verbal sets. And Read all the instruction carefully of PPDT. Your story should convey some message. Narrate your story with confidence. Do not create hustle and bustle in discussion. Put your points gently and do take part in discussion. Silence doesn’t help (Not always).

2). Psychological Tests: – These tests are used to measure intellectual, Cognitive, emotional and behavior functioning. So, you can understand how important these tests are. One must pay special attention to these psychological testing series. What you write on paper defines your personality. See, we all are unique. We behave differently under the same condition and same pressure. SO PLEASE DO NOT COPY AND DO NOT FOLLOW OTHERS (EVEN ME). Following are test conducted under psychological testing series: –

1). Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)

2). Word Association Test (WAT)

3). Situation Reaction Test (SRT)

4). Self-Description Test (SDT)

Experience: – We reported to the testing hall. I listened carefully to each and every instruction given to us by the officer. Psychosocial tests started with TAT. Stories were shown to us and we were asked to write stories around the scene. I was ready for that. I closed my eyes and tried to focus. Stories were shown. I started with calligraphy and ended with simple separated words. This happens. If you pay a lot of attention to your hand writing, you might not be able to pay the required attention to what you’re writing. But, Psychology says that even your hand writing speaks of your personality. Officers say that vocabulary and hand writing doesn’t matter. But Write in such a manner that officers can at least read your stuffs. So, I was cleared with my thoughts. My stories were simple. And I tried to avoid negativity. I could feel sweat in my hands, though it was January. I managed to write all the stories. Next test, WAT. I wrote the words and formed the sentences. And Believe me, sometimes it was totally blank in the head. But I tried to maintain the fluency and I was able to form sentences of most of the words.

Then Came SRT. I was pretty confident about my performance this time. I attended around 50 SRTs. And My Reactions to the situations were simple, logical and clear.

At last SDT, I had to write what My parents, teachers, friends think about myself. Actually, I love responsibilities. I was IT Club Secretary in class 8th. I was school vice caption in class 9th and school captain in class 10th. I had a lot to write about myself. I come from a middle-class family so I’m resourceful by nature. I wasn’t a good debater, but I developed this skill. I’ve a younger brother, I spend a portion of my leisure time guiding him. So, this all contributed to Self-Description Tests. And I was able to write genuine about me in the psychological tests.

My Suggestions: – Psychological Tests are used to bring out your true personality. So, these tests are important. I suggest you to practice. Practice and practice a lot. Make a time table and spend time practicing it daily. Write and Practice. Nothing is better than writing. We have to write a lot in psychological tests. Keeping this in mind, the more you practice, better will be the result.

I suggest you to meditate daily. This sharpens your imagination and thinking. Do meditation for 15 minutes daily. Try to recall what you’ve done from morning till noon. This will help you to imagine the situation quickly in SRTs. And believe me, it really does help a lot in psychosocial tests.

3). Interview: – Everyone got the chance to be interviewed in formals. But I was called for my interview just after my GTO-2 (on Day 4). I washed my face and sat down in the waiting room. I didn’t wait for a long time. I was called by my interviewing officer just after 10 minutes. I took a deep breath and walked inside the office with a mesmerizing smile. I greeted him and he asked me to sit. My interviewing officer was president of the Selection Board. We had a quick introduction. He asked me about my performance in other tests. Then, He asked me about my family, financial situation, my school, my performance in 10th and 12th, my teachers and my hobbies. Seeing my interest in Geo-Politics, we had a conversation about the present world scenario. From Russia’s Interest to Israel’s’ attitude, He asked about the present global situation. Then, He asked about the most recent launch of ISRO and purpose of Indian satellites in the launch. I knew that the launch was conducted at the time I reported to SSB Centre. I told him the same. But He again asked me the purpose of the India’s Satellite. I thought for a while and told him that the purpose was either land navigation or communication, seeing the past record of Indian satellites. “Land Navigation” was the right answer and he quickly briefed me about the launch in 30 seconds. He asked me about my JEE preparation. And then the new phase of interview started. He asked me about my favorite subject. My answer was Physics. He asked me set of questions related to physics and further conversation went as follow: –

Interviewer: – What happens to the mass of the object when speed of it reaches the speed of light?

Me: – Mass becomes infinite. (Told the formula of inertial and non-inertial mass)

Interviewer: – What is refraction? What is the cause of refraction?

Me: – (Told him about refraction) I would consider light as a wave to answer this question (as light possess dual behavior). Because of the change in wavelength and the speed of light wave, the refraction occurs.

Interviewer: – How can you say that Light possess particle like behavior too?

Me: – By Photoelectric Effect. The time lag between the incidence of radiation and the emission of a photoelectron is very small, less than 10−9 second. If it behaves like wave here, it would take several hours. Every electron absorbs one photon, then it is emitted out if the incident light has equal to or more frequency than Threshold frequency.

And it continued. Overall, I really enjoyed my interview. And I believe that the officer was satisfied. I was able to answer almost every question he asked.

My suggestions: – Your body language speaks a lot of you. Sit straight. Listen carefully to what officer asks. You’ll surely face Rapid fire questions. So, prepare well. You must have some hubbies. Music to Novels, anything. If you don’t have any hobby, develop at least two hobbies. Spend some productive time learning new things. Read in your leisure time.  And Improve your communication skills.  You should know how to express your thoughts and inner feelings.

4). GTO (Group Testing Officer’s Tasks): – GTO is really important. So, you need to pay attention towards it. Usually, it is conducted on 3rd and 4th day of SSB interviews. And the different tasks in GTO are: –

  • Group Discussion
  • Group Planning
  • Progressive Group Task
  • Group obstacle Race (Snake Race)
  • Half Group Task
  • Lecturette
  • Individual Obstacles
  • Command Task
  • Final Group Task

I was suffering from High Fever and cold during my SSB interview. I usually used to take paracetamol in the night and perform tasks in the day. By the God’s grace, my throat was all right. I actively participated in the group discussion and group planning. I usually prefer defending the motion. But Remember, it’s not a debate. So, I put my points confidently in the discussion. And We really had a fruitful discussion on both topics. Though in Group Planning Exercise, my solution didn’t match and I had totally different views from others. Everybody agreed to a solution. I announced in front of everybody that I do not agree to the solution. I briefed them about the mistakes they made. But Nobody listened. But I extended my support to the solution to save time and further confusion.

Then We had PGT, Snake Race and HGT. I participated in it with full energy. And We were able to finish most of the tasks given to us. Snake Race was fun as always. We shouted our war cries and it felt as if we were going to call Gods from the seventh heaven. We won the race but someone broke the rules. We shouted from 1 to 10 and one of us (Me) was asked to repeat a task as a punishment.

I got the topic, “Article 370” in Lecturette. I took my all time. I love history. And I love politics. And It was both, political and historical topic. I spoke my heart out. From Jinnah to Churchill, from instruments of accession to GST and Demonetization, I cleared the picture of Article 370 in everybody’s mind in the given time. I felt that I was able to grab the attention of everyone. So, I felt pretty good after delivering the speech. I paid attention to all the speeches. Everybody spokes well.

But the real game was not started yet. Officer announced that We were going to have Individuals Obstacles on the same day. I was suffering from Fever. I was totally exhausted. AND I was the least chest Number in our group, I had to perform first. I listened to every instruction. I closed my eyes and said to myself, “Abhi nhi to kabhi nhi”. I put my whole energy into it. And I was satisfied with performance at last. Most of the people were exceptionally excellent.

Next day, we had our command task and Final Group Task. It was pretty well performed by me. The command task was very difficult. Officer was trying to create more obstacles by saying Gentleman, think that the blue pole doesn’t exist and now continue. As the result, I was able to complete only half of my command task. (Only one of my group members called me as subordinate)

My Suggestion: – Have command over the language. Practice speaking English in front the mirror. Start reading books. Have knowledge about everything. Keep yourself up to date. Do not mix your thoughts. Keep your body in shape. Read about every instruction of every task before only. Pay Attention to what Officer says. Do not break rules. Remember It’s not a competition.

5). Conference: –Fifth and the final day, we all were excited. The one of best things about SSB is that you get to know many people and you develop a strange bond. We reported to the testing Hall. We waited for the further instructions. Then, everyone faced the conference. One by one, everybody was called for the conference. I got a chance to see my all officers together first and the last time. I was asked about my experience and my suggestions. They asked me about the things I learned here. It didn’t take long. Just 2-3 minutes. After the process was done, we all were made to sit in conference hall and we waited for further instructions. Then, Vice-President of SSB Allahabad came. He told us to take our results positively. He discussed about the OLQs. The most awaited moment came. Result was going to be announced. He started calling out chest Numbers whose who were recommended. He called out my chest no. Everybody looked at me. Believe me guys, it felt like time had surrendered in front of me. I felt the blood through my veins flowing top to bottom and vice-versa. My whole world stopped for a while. I lived that moment. The smiling face of my mother flashed in front of me. My voice crumbled. I shouted my name, DOB and Roll No. Each step I took towards the officer, I felt that I was leaving behind the bias and fake world which I never was a part of. My unconsciousness broke when officer announced, “That’s all”. He turned to me and shook hands.

Tears in my eyes-I couldn’t stop

I was medically fit and I got All India Rank 7. I’m going to join academy next month.

“You have to fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and work hard for it.”

My Suggestion: – Do not panic. Take deep breaths. You may face some SRTs in the conference. So, Get yourself ready for that situation. If you’re a doubt case then your conference may be extended to even 30 minutes.

Indian army official website will publish the JAG 22 notification on 19th July 2018.  JAG 22 or Judge Advocate General 22 is a special entry for both male and female law graduates.  All law graduates (both Male and Female), who want to join the Indian army judge advocate general branch can apply through this entry.
There won’t be any written exam, if shortlisted, you will directly face the SSB Interview.

JAG 22 Eligibility

  • Nationality – The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • Age Limit – The candidate must be of the age between 21-27 years.  21 to 27 years as on 01 Jan 2019  (Born not earlier than 02 Jan 92 and not later than 01 Jan 98 both dates inclusive). The date mentioned in matriculation certificate will be considered as final. No other document will be accepted for age declaration and no further change request will be entertained.
  • Educational Qualification – The candidate must have scored 55% marks in LLB graduation degree (3 years professional after graduation or 5 years after 10+2) and the candidate must be eligible for registration with Bar council of India/ State. Candidates having studied in the college/ university which are not recognized by the Bar council of India will not be accepted.

  • On the officers row, click on Apply/Login.
  • There you will find registration. Click on it.
  • Follow the instructions and fill up your basic details.
  • After entering your details, the website will show you the list of entries available for you.
  • Now submit the application after checking the entire application form again, save the application and take 2 printouts of the application for future use.

JAG 22 Medical Standards

  • The candidate must be fit as per the physical standards mentioned in the guidelines available at joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  • The candidates, who will be recommended by the SSB, will be further sent for medical examination. Those who pass the exam will be accepted.

JAG 22 Selection Procedure

The selection procedure of the JAG entry is as follows-

  • The shortlisting of candidates on the basis of the academic performance will be done by Recruiting Directorate, Integrated Headquarter of MoD (Army). The list of shortlisted candidates will be put on joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  • The shortlisted candidates will be allotted SSB centers and date of reporting will be sent to them by e-mail or SMS.
  • The candidates, who will report at the mentioned SSB center on mentioned date, will face stage 1 (Screening) and Stage 2 (psychology, GTO and personal interview).
  • Those who pass the sage 1 will stay for stage 2 and those who fail in stage one will be set free on the same day.
  • Candidates who will get the recommendation after stage 2 will undergo documentation and will be sent for medical examination.

Training

  • The candidates who will get their names in the final merit list, will be called for training in Officers Training Academy, Chennai.
  • The training will last for 49 weeks and the cadets will be granted commission in the rank of lieutenant after the completion of the training.
  • As per the guidelines and rules, the candidates are neither allowed to marry during training, nor will they not be allowed to live with parents or guardians.
  • Any candidate found married before or during the training will be discharged from the training.
  • The government of India will manage all expenses of the training of the cadets. The cadets will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Defense Management and Strategic Studies by the University of Madras after the end of the training.

CRACKED SSB INTERVIEW IN 13TH ATTEMPT

If you are reading this then I am pretty sure you are already in for a hell of a ride of a tale of a normal person like you who did not give up and made it in his 13th attempt. I have read almost all the success stories that have been shared by SSBCrack from the last 4 years and I knew one day I will pen down my story on this same platform but I did not know that it would take me such a long time. 

My journey began on 5th may 2014 when I first gave my ssb for Indian army tgc119 entry and got conference out and it finally came to an end on 30th March 2018 when I got recommended from 4 AFSB Varanasi through AFCAT entry. I have seen everything, felt every emotion that a defence aspirant goes through. I have slept on platforms, traveled in general compartments, slept in the alley of the sleeper trains, woken up with dreams of getting recommended, left exams for SSBs, tolerated the taunts of neighbors and relatives, and finally cried for half an hour on getting recommended. I have so much to tell you guys and I’ll try to give you a gist of everything important that has happened in my life so bear with me, please. 

I gave my first ssb in may 2nd and 3rd on June 4th on Aug 5th in November in the same calendar year which was a mistake and I was heading nowhere. Then after my 6th failure I decided to opt for an alternate career and started preparing for government exams but I never stopped giving ssb although the frequency slowed down. Every time in the interviews it became so much difficult to convince the interviewing officer that how I was able to manage my finance and how after being provided the best of education by my parents I am still dependant on them for money. So I decided to start teaching mathematics and my first salary was Rs 7333. I taught maths for 1.5 years in Kurukshetra and it changed my personality in so many different ways. After this, I got a job in Delhi Metro but my dream was nowhere coming to reality. Repeated failed attempts had exhausted me and I was nearing the last eligible age limits. I always strived to improve my personality traits according to the demands of ssb and every decision or action I took revolved around this only. I had two government jobs in hand and I knew the only thing that would pull me behind was my physical fitness. I started running and I remember the first time I ran on 13th December 2017 I could only run 1.6kms that too in 12mins. I felt so ashamed of myself ki banda andar se khatam ho chuka hai. I then started running with a friend of mine who helped me run half marathon on 18th March 2018 that too in 1:51:00.

I am not going to share what all procedure I went through in ssb but I am going to share what helped me achieve what everyone here is looking for. 

For screening- the narration is the key, perform your best in oir and last but not the least active participation in group discussion. Make sure that the problem you all have perceived in the group story is sorted out and the measures taken so that it wont happen again. Do not fight over how many people u perceived or the age or gender. Help the group reach the solution.

Now comes the main part, do not try to master every test but look at the procedure as a whole. Your psych interview and gto should all reflect the same thing and it will only come when you are honest with your answers and not trying to copy anybody. I wrote very simple TAT stories and the 12th story was about my life experience when one of my student in kurukshetra came running to me and started touching my feet as he had got selected in haryana police exam and he gave all the credit to me and i was feeling so embarrassed standing there telling him it was all his mehnat. 

In WAT write sentences which shows emotions, do not write any factual sentences as they wont contribute to your scores.

SRT should be short and do as much as possible. I did the maximum this time in all my attempts.

The most important of all psych is your self description. I suggest you to pour your heart out about how you feel about you parents friends and teachers and yourself. This part is read by the psychologist interview officer and in one of my attempts i saw the gto reading it as well. So make sure you have introspected enough and be honest to it. It doesnt matter how odd your weakness sound or how many adjectives you have used. I wrote everything i have felt how i would make my parents proud one day and about my friends who have been my spine all through my life, about my teachers without whom i have never been the kind of person iam today.Cracked SSB Interview In 13th Attempt

Now pay heed to me if you want a little protip. Never ever say bad about your friends parents and teachers and in every achievements of yours try to glorify them. Fauj runs on brotherhood and friendship and if you are sitting there in the interview room telling more disqualities about your friends than qualities then may lord have mercy on you. All through my psych interview, i put forward my friends first in my answers because if you can see a quality in your friend then its pretty obvious you have it too otherwise you would not have observed it so in a way you are only giving away your traits.

My interview went for about an hour this time and as usual, i was asked about everything starting from my school life to my present job. There are so many things i wish to share but i might bore you so i would speak of only a few. At one point of time he asked if i smoke i replied in affirmative, then he asked if i drink again my answer was yes then he asked about my favorite brand to which i replied after that he asked me to tell me one instance where i got too much drunk and i told him about one time where i had a few pegs and then i smoked weed and i blacked out?. Then i had to convince him that iam not an addict. He also asked me if i have a girlfriend and i said yes(but actually we broke up and she is going to canada and after my continuous efforts of appeasing her for 5 months i failed) and i told him about when she is leaving canada for her mba and he was like fit to relationship khatam and i remember my answer was sir pyaar bohot hai this distance cant soil this relationship and i said sir till the time she would complete her mba i would have completed my training at the academy and we would marry when she would come back. This was the only lie i told and iam fortunate Abhishek sir helped me answer this question among many other questions. This time the interview went good and i was able to relate many life instances with my answers. Friends introspect and gather all the instances that hold meaning to your life this helps alot in interviews.

My GTO was satisfactory this time and I am saying this because in my group everybody had their last or second last attempt and they want to give it all this time so it ended in a fish market which lasted till both group discussions. I spoke when I felt the need and did not contribute to the hustle. My GPE went well and it was exactly as the group concluded. In the ground task helping each other is equally important as giving ideas so help each other out, give your hand to your mate while crossing an obstacle, do not hesitate trying a plan out. Then came the lecturette and i messed up real bad there I was not able to speak for even 2 mins and it brought me down but friends it is so important to not lose hope and keep moving forward. No one test decide your decision of recommendation and I remember my GTO saying that day ki do not introspect what happened today go out with your friends and enjoy and do not carry the weight of your mistakes on your shoulders and I followed his words. Next day I was called last in the command task and before my task, he took a mini interview of mine and talked about my job in Delhi metro. Then my task began and he started increasing the difficulty level I was able to give the solution to all (all thanks to my experience of so many SSBs). Later in individual obstacles, I was able to do 7 and I was happy with my performance at the end of the day. 

Then came the conference day and when my turn came I was asked to wait for about healthy 20 mins or so and i was losing my sh*t. I was never asked to wait so long and even the doorman was saying ki kya karke aaye ho aesa. Finally I was asked to enter the conference hall and the first question that was asked was what different have you performed this time so we should select you and my answer was sir I have not prepared any differently iam just trying to be a better person in life immediately he asked tell me one recent instance where you behaved like a better person to which I said that recently 2 maintainers died in delhi metro who were 49 and 51 years of age and every AM and GM were giving away their salaries so I also volunteered and gave them my 2 days salary. He asked a few questions about it and then he asked how do you enjoy your friend’s company and my reply was just to be with them is quality time, trips and tours are different ways to spend time but just their entourage cheers me up. Then he asked a few general ques about the stay and asked for any suggestion to which I said no and said everything was perfect. 

Finally, it was results time, all my group mates were saying i might make it this time and this added fuel to my anxiety. It was my interview officer who was announcing the result and he immediately said chest no 48, believe me people i had no idea then what was happening i was not smiling i was not happy i was numb i went to the stage and stood before everybody and there was clapping going on for 5 mins and i was standing there my head held low and then struck the reality and then came the first tear. The wing commander there was shaking hands with me and telling me to become a nice officer and i was there sobbing like a small child. I cried for almost half an hour till the time my group came to me hugged me and this bloody aniket telling me kitna royega saale. I can give anything to relive that moment in life and after so many attempts it was worth it. Even now sometimes the flashbacks come and it puts a smile on my face no matter what iam going through at that time. Iam really thankful to my friends, my parents and my teachers who believed in me and always supported me. My call letter has come and i would be joining the july course on 2nd of july in Air Force Academy Dundigal, Hyderabad.

Ps- I developed this hobby of writing poems during this journey and i wrote one about fauj.. i hope this will connect to every hardcore repeater and aspirant and will motivate you to achieve your dreams..

NCC 45 Special Entry Scheme Army Notification: Indian army has published the notification of NCC Special Entry 45 for the NCC candidates with C certificate, it is a direct SSB entry and candidates who get shortlisted will get a direct call for SSB interview.

Notification: Applications are invited from UNMARRIED male and female (including Wards of Battle Causalities of Army Personnel), for grant of Short Service Commission (Non-Technical) in the Indian Army. The course will begin in April 2019 at OTA, Chennai.

How To Prepare for NCC 45 SSB Interview:

Age Limit

For NCC candidates (including wards of Battle Casualties) 19 to 25 years as on 01 Jan 2019 (born not earlier than 02 Jan 1994 and not later than 01 Jan 2000, both dates inclusive). Date of birth acceptable is that entered in the Matriculation or an equivalent examination certificate.

Eligibility:

Graduate with an aggregate of minimum 50% marks taking into account marks of all the years. Those studying in final year are also allowed to apply provided they have secured minimum 50% aggregate marks in the first two/three years of three/four years degree course respectively. Such students will need to secure an overall aggregate of minimum 50% marks if selected in the interview, failing which their candidature will be CANCELLED.

The candidate should have served for minimum two academic years in the senior Division/Wing of NCC and should have obtained minimum of ‘B’ Grade in ‘C’ Certificate Exam of NCC.

The following points will be considered deeply

How To Prepare for Navy UES SSB Interview:

Notification: Applications are invited from unmarried candidates who fulfil eligibility condition of Nationality as laid down by the Government of India for entry as Permanent Commission (PC) officers in Executive (GS) Branch and Short Service Commission (SSC) officers in Executive and Technical Branches of the Indian Navy under University Entry Scheme (UES), for course commencing June 2019.

  • Only one application to be filled by candidate.
  • Candidates who are eligible for more than one branch/cadre/specialisation should mention their preference in order of priority in their application form.
  • Candidates will be issued call up for Service Selection Board (SSB) interview based on their performance during campus interviews.
  • Candidates with pending backlog will not be permitted to appear for SSB interview.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for SSB based on their first preference.

HOW TO APPLY

  • Online (e-application). Whilst filling up the e-application, it is advisable to keep the relevant documents readily available to enable the following:-
  • Correct filling up of personal particulars. Details are to be filled up as given in the Matriculation Certificate.
  • Fields such as e-mail address, mobile number are mandatory fields and need to be filled.
  • All relevant documents (preferably in original) date of birth proof (10th & 12th certificate), 10th marksheet, 12th marksheet and marksheets till 5th /7th semester of regular BE/ B Tech and Integrated Course respectively, BE/ B Tech CGPA to % conversion formula and a recent passport size colour photograph should be scanned for attaching the same while filling up the application.
  • If any application with scanned document is not legible/ readable for any reason, it will be rejected.
  • Print 2 copies of this filled application form which have system generated application number. Carry one copy of application during Campus Interview. Another copy of application is to be carried alongwith original documents/certificates as mentioned in Para 5(c) above while appearing for SSB.

Indian Navy UES Selection Procedure

  • The eligible candidates will have to undergo Naval Campus Selection process. The Candidates qualifying the campus interview will be shortlisted for SSB interview on the basis of his/her preference for the entry, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria for particular entry. In case of excess candidates IHQ-MoD (Navy) reserves the right to further shortlist and fix cut-off percentage.
  • Candidates shortlisted during campus interview will be called for SSB interview at Bangalore/Bhopal/Coimbatore/Visakhapatnam/Kolkata between Dec 18 to Apr 19. Selected candidates will be informed about their selection for SSB interview on their E-mail as provided by candidates in their application form.

Indian Navy UES SSB Interview:

  • The total duration of SSB interview is five days consisting of two stages. Stage I (day one) and Stage II (four days). Stage I test consisting of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test, Picture Perception and Discussion test (PPDT) will be conducted on the first day. Candidate who fails to qualify in Stage I will be routed back home on the same day. Stage II tests will comprise of Psychological testing, Group Task, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. No compensation will be paid in case of any injury
    sustained as a result of tests. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Special Medical Examination for approximate duration of 05 days at nearest military hospital.
  • Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit, will be appointed for training based on All India Merit depending on the number of vacancies.
  • Change of SSB centre is not permissible. Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates is to be addressed to the Call-up Officer of the concerned SSB. Award of fresh dates, would be subject to availability of date and batches at SSB centre.
  • Return First Class (AC III Tier/AC Chair Car) rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for this Commission on production of railway ticket.
  • Candidates will carry photocopy of the first page of pass book or cheque leaf where the name, A/C No & IFSC details are mentioned, while appearing for SSB.

Indian Navy UES Training:

  • The training is tentatively scheduled to commence in Jun 2019 at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.
  • Candidates finally selected for UES, will be inducted as Officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant and undergo 22 weeks Naval Orientation Course at the INA Ezhimala, followed by professional training in Naval Ships and Training Establishments. In case of Executive (General Service) entry, course duration of NOC at INA would be 44 weeks.

IAF Group X and Y Mandatory Medical Standards

General Medical Standards for both Group ‘X’ (Except Education Instructor Trade) and Group ‘Y’ {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades are as follows: –

  • Height: Minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cms.
  • Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm.
  • Weight : Proportionate to height and age. However, minimum weight of 55 Kg required for Operations Assistant (ATS) Trade only.
  • Corneal Surgery (PRK/LASIK) is not acceptable.
  • Hearing: Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately.
  • Dental: Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points.
  • Health: Candidate should be of normal anatomy without loss of any appendages. He should be free from any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical disability or infection and skin ailments. Candidate shall be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.
  • Details of medical standards for various Groups/Trades are available on CASB web portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in
  • Permanent body tattoos are not permitted, however, tattoos only on inner face of the fore arms (inside of elbow to the wrist), back (dorsal) part of the hand/reverse side of palm and Tribals with tattoos which are as per custom and traditions of their tribes may be considered. However, right to decide on acceptability/ unacceptability of the individual shall rest with the Selection Centre. Candidates with permanent body tattoos shall submit two photographs (close up and distant view) with details of size and type of the Tattoo, during the second phase of Selection Test.
  • Only Sikh candidates, whose religion prohibits cutting of the hair or shaving of face of its member, will be permitted to grow hair and/or retain beard and moustache. Accordingly, those Sikh candidates willing to retain the same as per laid down specification are to get their photographs with beard and moustache.

IAF Group X and Y Pay & Allowances

During training, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month will be paid. On completion of training the starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Military Service Pay (MSP), Group ‘X’ Pay {applicable for Group ‘X’ Trades only} and Dearness Allowance (DA) will be as follows:-

  • Group „X‟ Trades (Except Education Instructor Trade). Rs.33,100/- per month plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
  • Group „Y‟ {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades. Rs. 26,900/- per month plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
  • In addition to the above, various allowances such as Transport Allowance, Composite Personal Maintenance Allowance (CPMA), Leave Ration Allowance (LRA), High Altitude Allowance, Field Area/Modified Field Area Allowance, HRA, Children Education Allowance/ Hostel Subsidy etc., are also admissible from time to time as applicable.
  • Perks such as Ration, Clothing, Medical facilities, Accommodation, CSD (Canteen) facilities, Leave (60 days Annual and 30 days Casual in a Calendar year as a privilege, subject to service exigencies), Recreational facilities, Transport facility for school going children and Leave Travel Concession (LTC) are also provided as per the existing rules. IAF Group X and Y SEQUENCE OF EXAMINATION

  • Phase – I: Online Test {For both Group ‘X’ Trades (except Education Instructor Trade)} & Group ‘Y’ {except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF(P), IAF(S) and Musician Trades}.
  • Phase – II: Soon after the declaration of the result of Phase-I test, all candidates shortlisted for Phase II will be sent a new admit card on their registered e-mail ID for phase – II test at an Airmen Selection Centre.

Indian Army has published the notification of SSC 52 Tech Men and SSC 23 Tech Women on 12th July 2018, the date of notification and last date of application are given below. SSC 52 Tech SSCW 23 ELIGIBILITY:

  • Nationality: A candidate must either be : (i) A citizen of India, or (ii) A subject of Bhutan, or (iii) A subject of Nepal, or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st of January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by Government of India. Certificate of eligibility will however not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
  • Age Limit: – (i) SSC(T)-52 Men and SSC(T)-23 Women:- 20 to 27 years as on 01 April 2019 (Candidates born between 02 April 92 and 01 April 99) (both dates inclusive).(ii) SSCW(Non Tech)(Non UPSC)- For Widows of Defence Personnel who died in harness only. Max 35 years of age as on 01 April 2019.
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates who have passed Engineering Degree course or are in the final year of Engineering course are eligible to apply. The candidates studying in the final year examination of Degree Course should be able to produce the Engineering Degree within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at OTA. Such candidates will be inducted on Additional Bond Basis for recovery of the cost of training at OTA as notified from time to time as well as stipend and pay & allowances paid, in case they fail to produce the requisite Degree Certificate within the specified time.

SSC 52 Tech SSCW 23 Important Note: – Candidates must note that the minimum educational qualification for induction into SSC(T)-52 Men and SSC(T)-23 Women is BE/B.Tech degree in the Engineering stream notified below. Therefore, to become eligible for induction into SSC(T)-52 Men and SSC(T)-23 Women course, candidates studying in final year of engineering must complete all the formalities including written, practicals, projects, backlogs, viva voce, etc, for the award of qualifying BE/B.Tech degree before 01 April 2019 failing which their candidature is liable to be canceled.

  • Applications will only be accepted online on website “www.joinindianarmy.nic.in”. Click on ‘Officers Entry Apply/Login’ and then click ‘Registration’. Fill the online registration form after reading the instructions carefully. After getting registered, click on ‘Apply Online’. A page ‘Officers Selection – Eligibility’ will open. Then click ‘Apply’ shown against Technical Graduate Course. A page ‘Application Form’ will open. Read the instructions carefully and click ‘Continue’ to fill details as required under various segments. Personal information, Communication details, Education details and details of previous SSB. ‘Save & Continue’ each time before you go to the next segment. After filling details on the last segment, you will move to a page ‘Summary of your information’ wherein you can check and edit the entries already made. Then click on ‘Submit now’ only after carefully ascertaining that the correct details have been filled in. After submitting, click on “PDF” and take two copies of the application form having Roll No and other details generated by the system.

Current Affairs questions will be from last 5-7 months (for AFCAT, NDA, CDS, TA)

SSC 52 Tech SSCW 23 SELECTION PROCEDURE: 

  • Short listing of Applications. Integrated HQ of MoD(Army) reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cutoff percentage of marks for each engineering discipline without assigning any reason.
  • Only shortlisted eligible candidates depending on the cutoff percentage will be interviewed at Selection Centres, Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bangalore (Karnataka) and Kapurthala (Punjab) by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer and Interviewing Officer. Call Up letter for SSB interview will be issued only through candidate’s registered e-mail id and through SMS. Candidates will not be interviewed locally. Allotment of Selection Centre is at the discretion of Dte Gen of Rtg, IHQ MoD (Army) and NO request for changes are entertained in this regard.
  • Shortlisted candidates will have to log in on the website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in using their username and password and select the SSB dates as available on the website.
  • Interviews will be held from Oct/Nov 2018 onwards.
  • Candidates will put through two stage selection procedure. Those who clear Stage I will go to Stage II. Those who fail in Stage I will be returned on the same day. Flying Officer Meghana Shanbough on Saturday inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF) as fighter pilot. The 24-year-old Meghana, who is hailing from Chikmaglur in Mysore of Karnataka, was among the 13 women officers out of 113 Flight Cadets , who earned their coveted wings on successful completion of their flying training from the Air Force Academy located at Dundigal here.

Meghana , the first fighter pilot from South India, will be the sixth women fighter pilot , to be inducted into the IAF. All other five women fighter pilots who were commissioned earlier in the IAF hailed from various states of MP, Rajasthan, Bihar and UP. Meghana’s father M K Ramesh, who is a practicing lawyer, said he was proud of his daughter Meghana, who inducted was into IAF as fighter pilot.

While a total of 13 women graduated as Flying Officers of the Indian Air Force, 80 young pilots, 6 navigators and 27 ground duty officers also earned their coveted ‘Wings and Brevets’, along with 6 officers of Indian Navy and 5 officers of Indian Coast Guard on successful completion of their flying training from the academy.

Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa graced the solemn ceremony as the chief guest and reviewed the Combined Graduation Parade.

He gave away various awards to the Flying Officers who had excelled in their training.

Flying Officer Tarun Nair from the Flying branch was awarded President’s Plaque and the Chief of the Air Staff ‘Sword of Honour’ for standing first in Overall Merit in Pilot Course. Flying Officer Abhishek Bajpai and Flying Officer Banti were awarded President’s Plaque for being first in overall merit in Navigation and Ground Duty branches respectively.

The grand event was witnessed by parents of the graduating trainees, various military and civilian dignitaries and few foreign Defence attaches.

Source: UNI: It was a great pride moment as 113 cadets, including 13 women, who have graduated out from Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal here was inducted into Indian Air Force (IAF) on Saturday.

After a hectic training schedule, the cadets joined the IAF as Commissioned Officers during the Combined Graduation Parade held at AFA.

Addressing after reviewing the combined Graduation Parade, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh, said ”it is a matter of pride and honour to review the Combined Graduation Parade and added the cadets can become the fine men and women in the IAF as Military Aviation leaders”.

Keeping in view the changing geo-political and strategic environment and varied security challenges faced by India, he urged the young officers to remain in heightened state of preparedness by dynamically adapting to the continuously changing environment.

The IAF has continued to evolve over the years, playing more significant roles not only strengthening the defense of our country, but also carving a niche for itself amongst the best Air Force of the world, he said.

A total of 113 Flight Cadets including 13 women trainees were commissioned as Flying officers on the occasion. It was a proud moment for 80 young pilots and six navigators as well who earned their coveted ‘Wings and Brevets’, along with six officers of Indian Navy and five officers of Indian Coast Guard on successful completion of their flying training.

The ceremony also marked the commissioning of another woman fighter pilot in the IAF, namely Flying Officer Meghana Shanbough. She will be joining the existing five woman fighter pilots of the IAF.

Close to 50% of India’s population are women, therefore half of its potential. But today gender inequality persists everywhere in our country and stagnates socio-economic growth. As a result, India ranks 131 in Human Development Index, 125 in Gender Inequality Index.

The share of seats in parliament is only 12%. But for India to become a globally recognisable power, the development has to be inclusive. So the role of Indian women is very important to break the socio-economic barrier which otherwise draws them backwards and thereby slows down the overall growth of the country.

Women have proven their worth in virtually every field today. Present day they are fighting shoulder to shoulder with men in the frontline, flying fighter aircraft and making their presence in the administration of the country.

On similar lines as above, you will not be shocked to see Prarthana Sarkar, an NCC cadet winning Femina Miss India 2018, a beauty pageant – we already know about Asha Bhat who won the Miss Supranational pageant of the year 2014 and became the first Indian to win the said pageant; she was also an NCC cadet.

The beauty queen represented her state in fbb Colors Femina Miss India 2018 earlier this year. She has been crowned as the winner of fbb Femina Miss India West Bengal 2018 during the Femina Miss India 2018 East Zone competition held in Kolkata on 22 March 2018. Now she represents West Bengal in the Grand Finale in Mumbai.

The All-Rounder

Prarthana is born into a family of armed forces. Her father is a Colonel in the Indian Army. She had her schooling in Dehradun, Hisar, Jodhpur and Kolkata. She did her board (Class XII) from Army Public School, Kolkata and subsequently took admission to St Xavier’s college, Kolkata for undergraduate programme. She is currently pursuing her honours degree in political science.

Prarthna is also an NCC cadet and was selected to attend YEP, Russia. She was adjudged as the All India Best Cadet (Navy) 2016 and was also awarded a Governor’s medal. She was also felicitated by the Chief Minister of West Bengal for her all-round performance.

Prarthana has always believed that the limit to achieve anything is infinity and her quest to experience different things will always continue. She succeeds Shivankita Dixit as the new Fbb Femina Miss India West Bengal. She will now represent West Bengal in Femina Miss India 2018 to be held in June. The show was judged by Bonny Sengupta, Supermodel Subhasree Ganguly, and Film Director Srijit Mukherji.

Former Miss World India and Bollywood actress Pooja Chopra will be mentoring Prarthana Sarkar for the national finale. By winning this title, she now becomes one of the 30 state finalists who will compete for the title of Femina Miss India 2018 in the month of June 2018.

About Femina Miss India 2018

Femina Miss India 2018 will be the 55th edition of the Femina Miss India beauty pageant to be held on 19th June 2018. The winners from all 29 states and winner of Delhi will compete for the crowns. Reigning title holder and Miss World 2017 Miss Manushi Chhillar from Haryana will crown her successor at the end of the event.

The pageant will crown India’s representative who will compete at Miss World 2018. Apart from the winner, two runner-ups will also be crowned, who will represent India at Miss Grand International 2018 and Miss United Continents 2018 respectively.
