A Bomb-Threat Mock Exercise (BTME) was conducted at Surat Airport to evaluate the preparedness, inter-agency coordination, and emergency response mechanisms in the event of a bomb threat.
The exercise saw active participation from 174 personnel representing key agencies, including Airports Authority of India (AAI), CISF, Surat City Police, District Administration, IndiGo Airlines, Customs, Bureau of Immigration, as well as local fire, medical, and BDDS teams.
Conducted under the supervision of airport and CISF authorities, the exercise tested emergency response protocols, communication systems, and coordination among multiple agencies. Various scenarios were simulated to assess the readiness of personnel to manage potential threats efficiently while ensuring passenger safety and smooth airport operations.
Officials noted that such mock drills are vital to strengthen preparedness, improve response times, and ensure seamless collaboration between security, administrative, and operational teams during real-time emergencies.
The successful execution of the BTME at Surat Airport reinforces the commitment of all stakeholders to maintain high standards of safety and security for air travelers.
