The Explosive Ordnance Operation and Training Conference 2025 was successfully conducted at the College of Military Engineering (CME), Pune on 27 and 28 October 2025. The two-day event brought together key stakeholders from across the Indian Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies, industry, and academia to deliberate on the evolving challenges and opportunities in the field of explosive ordnance operations.
Focus on Jointness and Technological Innovation
The conference witnessed active participation from Commanding Officers of Counter Explosive Disposal Units, officers from the Combat Engineers Directorate, members of the Explosive Detection & Disposal Wing, representatives from the National Security Guard (NSG), and subject experts from defence industries and research institutions.
Deliberations centered on the evolving Improvised Explosive Device (IED) threat landscape, emphasizing the growing need for jointness, technological innovation, and indigenous capability development to enhance operational effectiveness in counter-explosive operations.

Harnessing Emerging Technologies
Speakers and experts discussed the integration of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, autonomous platforms, and sensor fusion to revolutionize the detection, neutralization, and disposal of explosive ordnance. The participants also underscored the importance of synergy between field units and research organizations to fast-track innovation and operational deployment.

Towards a Unified EOD Policy
The discussions culminated in a call for greater inter-agency cooperation and the formulation of a common Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) policy, aligning procedures and technologies across services and security agencies. The conference served as a vital platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration aimed at ensuring national security through advanced and safe ordnance management practices.
